CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN—
breaking and entering saves the day.

"Finally found it." Bryce exhaled as he showed up to the waterpark nearly an hour late, holding a book up. "One very boring story that I searched high and low for."

Sam smiled as she sat up. "You're the best."

"Mhm." he leaned down to be replayed with a kiss on the cheek. "I almost had to fight an old lady over that. I was having flashbacks of throwing people into the A Million Wishes table."

"God, not that again." Sam put a hand on her heart in fear as she cracked the book open. "I got you a strawberry drink."

"Oh, you're the best." he mocked her tone from just a few seconds ago as Sam rolled her eyes and hid a smile, handing it to him as he leaned back on the chair. "Sunscreen."

"Sunscreen." he recalled his memory, fishing it from his bag. "Sam...I never in my life thought i'd be a tote bag guy. I feel very stripped of my masculinity on this one. What have you done?"

"You're the one who said you liked mine." she shrugged. "How can you feel striped of your masculinity? It's got painted fire on it."

"Oh, you're so right." Bryce hummed as he leaned back. "Fire absolutely is the mascots for a real tough guy."

"See." Sam grinned, reaching her hand over to take his as Bryce grasped it and leaned his head back with a deep sigh. "What the hell is that?"

"What?" he looked over, staring at her through his sunglasses.

"Is that mars?" she gapped at the tattoo on the inside of his arm. "Is that real?"

"Oh, almost forgot." he turned to hold his arm out. "You love it?"

"Yeah!" Sam smiled. "Did you get that for me?"

"Nah, my other girlfriend and I really like mars." Bryce shrugged as Sam smacked him with a grin across her lips. "Yes, for you."

Sam leaned in to press her lips onto his with a smile to go with it.

"Egh, get a room." Eli gagged as he walked over, hair dripping onto his shoulders. "You make me sick."

"He's just bitter that Demetri is working." Miguel sat on his other side.

"I was wondering where he was. Knew he wouldn't get on any of these rides." Bryce leaned back and shut his eyes. "Why do kids have to scream about everything?"

"I was just wondering that." Miguel agreed. "Really happy I guess?"

"Guess so." Bryce hummed, pushing his sunglasses onto his nose more and exhaling with his head back. "Summer is the perfect time to have a nose ring. I can't believe we let them close up."

"Yeah, but my Dad was planning your murder." Sam admitted honestly.

"This shit again?" Eli's words caught their attention as he looked toward arguing Cobra Kais and Miyagi-Fangs. "And there's Keene. I thought you said he wasn't in Conra Kai anymore?"

"That's what Sensei said." Miguel shrugged his shoulders.

"Come on." Eli encouraged as he stood up.

Bryce looked to Sam as she clearly tried to focus on her book but was severely distracted by the opposite of what she wanted to be involved in. "Excuse me? Pretty girl with the curls?"

Sam looked up as he stood up, extending his hand. "Care for join me for some real fun?"

"You do know we can't be here, right?" Sam asked after Bryce threw the Keep Out sign out of the way. One of the slides had closed down due to it being cracked on the inside, ropped off to keep everyone out. "And we could get arrested."

"Mhm." Bryce looked back at her. "Join me in a life of crime and to spend the rest of our days behind bars?"

Sam rolled her eyes, taking his hand as he went up the stairs as she followed close behind. "I missed doing illegal stuff. You've turned me into such a wuss."

"I have not." she argued as they made it to the top. "I hope you're not planning on us going down this thing?"

"Are you kidding? That's way past my line." Bryce exhaled, shutting the gate so they were locked in the tiny compartment. "It just seemed like you wanted to get away from there."

"I miss our house." she sat honestly, sitting down on the metal flooring as Bryce followed. "No karate, no nothing. I wish my Dad would just let us stay there all summer long."

"Next summer he won't get a say." Bryce nudged her with his foot due to them sitting across from each other. "We can just run from karate every single day and get locked in this cage thing."

It brought a smile to her face. "How'd you even know this was here?"

"They were talking about it on the news." he shrugged in return. "Apparently someone got stuck on the inside and they had to crack it in order to get him out. Not sure. Thank you to whoever did it though, right?"

"Right." Sam laughed, grinning as she watched him. "I really do like that tattoo. And the old one, you never told me about that one."

The one that covered his side is what she was talking about. "Don't know. I just kinda liked it. It took forever though, never again."

"I should get one." she said confidently. "A little one though."

"Ou, i'd love to see your Dads reaction to that one." Bryce inhaled deeply and shook his head at the thought of Daniels face. "Don't drag me into that one. I don't need another reason for him to disapprove."

"Oh, he'll blame you even if you're in a different country when I get it." Sam nodded as Bryce had to agree. She pushed up onto her knees and moved across the small space to get into his lap, turning so she could lean her back onto him. That was her favorite way to lay, coming from someone who slept on her back, it was her first choice when it came to laying together.
