A few days earlier...

A large bang was heard as a mysterious masked man shouted in rage. Drops of blood dripped onto the floor next to a bent metal rod.

The man cursed as he slowly slid his shirt off to observe the harsh wound. The iniquitous man took in a sharp breath and clutched his pounding head. How was he hurt to such an extent?

That boy was too scrawny to throw a punch like that...

'Who is that little sh*t?'

He let out a grunt of pain as he slowly lowered himself onto his couch. He gritted his teeth and held a menacing look in his eyes.

The man snarled as he vowed to get revenge. An unusual smirk was etched across his face.

He was going to destroy that boy for besting him. And he knew exactly what do.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Stark?" Peter replied as he sniffed.

"Kid... What's wrong?"

"I-I-" Peter let out another sob, unable to get the words out of his mouth.

"Where are you right now? I'm coming to get you." Tony worriedly said as he walked towards his suit.

"I-I'm at the hospital."

Tony paused and turned around, holding his breath. "You okay? What happened, Pete?"

"I-I'm fine," Peter said, before pausing. "It's May."

Tony widened his eyes as he put the Stark phone on speaker to check Peter's location.

"I'll be there in 20." He said as he went back to his suit. If the kid is in Brooklyn, it'd take too long to get there by car.

Tony furrowed his eyebrows.

Why was he at a Brooklyn hospital in the first place?

~~~
Tony parked his suit outside and ran to the front desk.
"I'm here to see May Parker."
The receptionist looked up and widened her eyes.
"Mr. Stark! Yes, of course! Mrs. Parker is in room 13."
Tony drummed his fingers on the front desk and nodded his head, making his way to May's room.
~~~

Tony stood silent in front of the door, his hand slightly hovering over the door's handle. One thought flashed across his mind. How was he supposed to provide solace to the broken boy behind this door? I'm not that important to the kid, am I?

Tony shook his head and opened the door. I have to be there for my - I mean - the kid.

Peter raised his head and looked up to see Tony. He whimpered as he stood up and hugged his father-figure.

All Peter needed was that hug.

It made everything better.

Present

Peter sighed and walked to the subway from school. He left Mr. Stark a text that he would walk back to the tower. He knew Mr. Stark wouldn't let him walk all the way back, but honestly Peter needed to clear his head. So, he did anyways.

Peter had a long day at school.

I mean he knew he was on national news, but he didn't think his classmates would react like that.

Peter huffed as he began to traverse a crosswalk. All he could think about was the killer. He couldn't stop. Not at school or at home or while he slept.

He couldn't even focus properly. It showed as he bumped into random strangers.

"Excuse me," Someone said, very not New York-like. Peter suddenly grew attentive. He knew that voice. He widened his eyes as he realized who it was, and suddenly stopped in the middle of the crowded crosswalk. It was him. That voice. That smell. He whipped around and surveyed the area. He went back the other way and searched for that mop of evil black hair. Where did he go?

Peter shouted in anguish, earning himself some weird looks. He grabbed his hair and crouched to the ground.

As tears slid down his cheeks he thought of one and one thing only.

He attacked his Aunt May.

Ever since he made it personal, Peter knew that Spider-Man wouldn't be taking any part in this ordeal.

This was a job for Peter Parker.

Peter dropped his bag onto the ground and slid into the couch. He stared at the ceiling as he contemplated his existence. How is this my life?

"Peter?" Tony called out from the other room. Peter covered his eyes with his arm and replied.

"Yeah?" Peter replied.

"I have a surprise for you, kid. There's someone here I want you to meet." Tony said as he walked into the room, with someone following him through the door.

Peter perked up.

"Really? Who?" Peter said sitting up on the couch in interest.

Tony smiled as he gestured to the person next to him.

Peter followed Tony's eyes and locked eyes with the person he had never even dreamed of meeting.

"No way!"

"It's nice to finally meet you mini Stark." Thor greeted him enthusiastically.

Peter had long since got up in shock. He was left completely and utterly speechless that he almost forgot what had occurred a few moments ago. Almost.

"Me? It's so great to meet you! I mean you're the freaking God of Thunder! How is this my life? Oh my god, I have to text Ned! He's gonna freak!"

"Peter, buddy, you need to calm down."

"Right, okay, sorry."

Thor just laughed at Peter's amusing awkwardness and Tony left the two to talk.

Tony sipped his tenth cup of coffee and grinned. He hoped this would cheer Peter up after everything that happened.

"Peter Parker, huh?" A man smirked as he saw a picture of the teenage boy on TV. He pulled his laptop out and began his search.

"I'm going to ruin you."
