The next few minutes consisted of Scott explaining to Mrs. Finch that we knew who-rather what- she was. He explained the Anuk-ite, and our theory that whoever the phone belonged to was it's second face.

Mrs. Finch hid any sign that she knew what we were talking about. Instead she wore a wildly confused face as she shook her head. "I told you, I don't know what the Primal is. I don't know what an A-Anuk-whatever ever is. I was just trying to call my daughter." she stammered, looking between the three of is. "Where did you get this?" she demanded, now looking only at Scott.

Scott just stared back at her, an expectant look on his face...when was she going to tell us the truth?

"You said you were in a pack." Liam spoke, pulling Mrs. Finch's attention toward the two of us who stood behind her. "That was you on the phone." he accused. "That's what you said on the phone."

Mrs. Finch shook her head at him, immediately becoming defensive. " I don't know what business it is of yours, my personal life." she snapped. "I am the teacher, you are the students. I don't go digging into your personal lives outside of these walls. You shouldn't be digging into mine!" her voice was mixed with tones of anger and panic as she spun around to look at my brother once again.

Scott's face remained calm as he spoke. "Did you reach any of them before they died?" he questioned.

Even without seeing her face, I could see Mrs. Finch physically deflated. "What?" she stuttered. "W-what are you talking about."

Scott met my eye briefly before he looked back to Mrs. Finch, sympathy dripping from his features. "Oh. Mrs. Finch, Im sorry." he whispered, his voice breaking slightly. "Your family...they were attacked. They're dead."

Her voice alluded to the fact that she was crying as she shook her head. "No." she cried softly. "Dead? They can't be dead because they were just- they were-they were in the woods. They were just hiding out." Her words came out in soft cries jumbled together. I felt my heart break for her as she turned to look at Liam and I, tears pooling in her eyes. "They were scared." she whispered.

"We found that phone on a body." Scott explained. To many, his tone and words would have sounded harsh, but I knew that he was only doing what needed to be done. We needed to find the other half of the Anuk-ite, or everyone would be dead. "Three men, two boys."

Mrs. Finch turned back to my brother. "What about my daughter?" she questioned, hope and desperation in her words.

"There was another body." Scott answered, quickly shaking his head as he looked down. "But-"

Mrs. Finch visibly leaned forward, awaiting what he was going to say next. "But what?"

Liam glanced over at me, sorrow in his eyes over what Scott was about to tell our teacher. I looked back at him, my eyes beginning to sting with tears.

"We couldn't identify it." he admitted. "It was stripped down to the muscle. There was no DNA. But the pack tattoo was still there."

Mrs. Finch let out a breath. "Okay, I'm sorry but this- this doesn't make sense." she whispered, turning to look at Liam and I. "Biology doesn't work like this."

"It's what the Anuk-ite does." I explained, finally finding my voice. I decided it was unfair to Scott to take on the burden of explaining all of this to Mrs. Finch. "It finds a body, and it takes it face. It takes the whole identity of that person."

Mrs. Finch's face fell as she let out a small cry. "Not my daughter." she whispered, moving past us to brace herself against her desk. "Not my daughter."

I gave her a sad look as Liam took a small step toward her. "There's a way we can find out."

---

"I won't do that." Mrs Finch argued, seemingly unwilling to go along with our idea

"Just call her, and tell her you need her to meet you at the school. Tell her there's someone or something hunting for someone like her. " Liam ordered, trying to walk her through the plan.

Mrs. Finch's face was coated in tears as she look up at us, the phone still gripped in her hands. "You have to stop talking about this." she pleaded.

"If she shows up," Scott stared, "At least you'll know what happened to your family. What happened to your daughter."

When she didn't object right away, I took a small step toward her. "I'll do it for you." I offered, giving her a comforting smile.

Mrs. Finch looked down at the phone, shakily punching in the number before placing the device into my outstretched hands. As she released the phone, she gave my hand a quick squeeze before moving toward Scott and Liam.

I looked down at the phone briefly. "What's her name?" I asked, looking up once again.

Mrs. Finch let out a shaky breath as she looked up from where she was leaning against one of the tables. "Quinn. My daughter's name is Quinn."

My face fell as I looked to Scott and Liam. Quinn. As in the same Quinn who had just been in my house days before. The same Quinn who we had brought to the sheriff's station under the assumption that she had been shot by a werewolf. That Quinn?

I remained silent, not wanting to upset Mrs. Finch anymore. Instead, I tore my eyes away from my brother and boyfriend, hitting the call button on the phone.

---

Night had begun to fall, and the four of us were still seated in the biology classroom. Mrs. Finch had remained still at her desk, meanwhile Liam paced back and forth. I sat beside my brother, both of us anxiously watching the door.

Finally, something seemed to happen, as both Scott and Liam perked up, their eyes moving toward the hallway.

"What is it?" I whispered, too afraid to speak any louder.

Mrs. Finch jumped up from where she had been seated, "It's her isn't it?" she questioned.

Scott nodded, not taking his eyes off of the door as Liam joined the rest of us as we gathered in the middle of the room. I felt the fear rise in my chest as I glanced toward the classroom door.

"W-what do you plan on doing?" Mrs. Finch asked, her voice wavering.

"Sh." Liam ordered as both he and Scott slowly approached the door.

"You're not going to hurt her are you?"

"We're going to do what we have to do." Liam answered, still focused on the door.

Nervously wringing her hands together, Mrs Finch wore a look of concern. "What exactly does that mean?"

"Just stay back." Scott ordered.

Mrs. Finch grabbed onto me, pulling me close as she took a small step away from the door. I gripped onto her hand as she pulled us to the blackboard.

"Liam." Scott whispered, his voice laced with urgency.

"Ready." Liam responded.

I watched with nervous eyes as the two boys readied themselves for who-or what- ever was about to come through that door.

However, an attack didn't come from outside of the classroom, but rather within. A gasp flew from my lips as a body came into contact with mine, sending me to the ground. I watched in complete shock as Mrs. Finch ran at Liam and Scott, hitting them with a chalkboard eraser that sent wolfsbane into the air. Looks like our earlier plan with the poision backfired.

The boys were still coughing on the ground as I managed to push myself to my feet. "Mrs. Finch!"  I yelled in a whisper, already making my way toward the door in pursuit.

"Syd!" Liam snapped, grabbing a hold of my ankle before I could make it out the door. "It's not safe out there."

I spun around to look at him as he slowly pushed himself onto all fours. "We're just supposed to leave her alone out there?" I demanded, already weighing the consequences that would come my way if I left the boys and followed after our teacher.

"Help us up," Scott ordered, letting out a quick cough. "You're not going out there alone."

I let out a small grunt as I moved to pull Liam off the ground, ensuring he was okay before I focused on my brother. "We should have known this was going to happen." I grumbled. "There's nothing stronger than a mother's love."

Scott let out a small breath as he nodded. "You're right." he agreed. "So that's why we have to find her."

He pulled away from me, cautiously sticking his head into the hallway. Seconds later he turned back to look at Liam and I. "All clear." he whispered, beckoning us to follow him out of the classroom.

I gripped onto Liam's arm as the two of us followed Scott into the empty, dark hallway. I could hear my heart pounding in my chest with every step we took. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who could hear my heart. "Who is that?" Scott whispered, spinning around to look at Liam and I.

Liam jerked his head toward me, surrendering me easily. "Syd." he mumbled.

Scott gave me a look. "You have to calm down." he instructed, "She'll hear us."

I nodded, my eyes still wide with fear. "I'm sorry." I whispered, "I'm trying but-"

A scream from down the hall caused all of our heads to snap in the direction it came from. My grip tightened on Liam's arm.

"If it's the Anuk-ite," Scott started, "It'll make you afraid." he explained.

I peered down the hall. "You mean more than I already am?"

"I've got you." Liam promised, giving me a reassuring look. Scott nodded at the two of us before quickly turning and taking off down the hall.

I had released my grip on Liam, but remained close as we rushed toward what I presumed was an injured Mrs. Finch.

My presumption was right, as seconds later we rounded the corner to see Mrs. Finch slumped against the wall, blood covering her torso. Just as we entered the hall, a figure ran off the other way. Quinn.

We all dropped to our knees, looking down at Mrs. Finch's wounds with wide eyes. "I'll stay." Scott announced, reaching out to place a comforting hand on Mrs. Finch's shoulders. "Liam," he instructed, "go find Quinn."

Liam's face fell as he looked over his shoulder briefly, "W-we need to face her together!" he stammered, fear in his tone.

I nodded, looking at my brother. "I can go with Liam." As much as the thought of finding Quinn terrified me, I knew it terrified Liam about just the same.

Scott shook his head. "No." he argued, "It's not safe for you."

I knew he was right, but I hated the idea of making Liam face the Anuk-ite on his own. "Well then I'll stay with Mrs. Finch. You two go." I offered, my voice becoming urgent.

"What if she already found Aaron, how am I supposed to fight both of them?" Liam argued, his voice wavering.

"Liam, it's okay to be afraid." Scott assured, "But just don't let it stop you, okay? You've got this."

Liam looked at Scott, pressing his lips into a firm line as he debated his options. His eyes then met my wild ones.

"Go." Scott prodded.

With one final look of hesitation, Liam pushed himself to his feet. He sent me a small nod, and I could tell her was trying to calm my worries.

"Be safe." I pleaded, my voice dropping off as he took of down the hall.

The minute Liam was gone, I turned back to my brother. "What do you want me to do?" I questioned, trying to push aside the fact that he just sent Liam out alone.

I could tell that Scott sense my discomfort with the situation, but he decided not to bring it up. "Go find something to stop the bleeding." he ordered. As I pushed myself to my feet, Scott's hand shot out to grab a hold of my wrist. "Be careful, Sydney." he pleaded, his eyes softening as they met mine.

I nodded as I reached out to cover his hand with my own. "I'll be right back."
