Reunions

EVANGELINE'S HANDS WENT TO HER MOUTH, disbelief spreading on her body. She was in a state of denial. He was supposed to be dead a century ago, and he shouldn't be here.

"Come on, Theo, let's give them some privacy," Alice says. As Theo was about to question her, she shushed him.

Jasper slowly walks up to her taking in her appearance, her presence. She was here when he thought she died the night he came home.

Jasper cups her face, memorizing every detail of her face. He wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her towards his chest, putting his head on the crook of her neck, and inhaling her scent.

"I thought you were gone," Jasper says while combing his fingers through her blonde hair.

"You aren't supposed to be here, and you're supposed to be human, having a family, with grandchildren, growing old, and peacefully dying," Evangeline says through his shirt. She was dry sobbing.

"I don't want that if you're not in it," Jasper says, pulling away and cupping her face, rubbing his thumb on her cheek.

"You deserve so much better than this life," Evangeline says, looking up at him.

"And I'm okay with this life now that you're here," Jasper tells her with a smile, then his face falls. "What happened?"

"Can we talk later? In private?" Evangeline says, now dreading the fact she needs to tell Jasper everything that had happened since that night.

Jasper just nodded and offered his hand to take, which Evangeline gladly took. She smiled at him and pecks his cheek.

Now they were standing outside, waiting for the newlyweds to go on their honeymoon.

After that, the Denalis and the Cullens are now in the living room, catching up with each other.

Evangeline was now formally introduced to the Cullens. She was truly happy.

Jasper took her hand and led her to his bedroom, sitting her down on the sofa.

"Can you tell me now?" Jasper asks while holding her hand.

"I was only going to buy ingredients for the soup that you like so much, Vegetable beef soup?" Evangeline tells him while tilting her head.

"I do miss your cooking," Jasper says with a chuckle.

"I was about to go home from the store when I was dragged to an alleyway," Evangeline says quietly, "The man was threatening me that he'll kill me if I didn't give him money, so I did, and I thought it was over until he stabbed me in the stomach twice."

Jasper pulls her towards him, putting her between his legs and hugging her from behind.

"I was losing too much blood, and I thought that was it. I thought I was going to die, and all I could think about was you, and the first news you'll receive was me being murdered in an alleyway," Evangeline says, "Kate found me, and she changed me."

Evangeline looks at him and bites her lip. "Please don't be mad about what I'm about to say."

"I can never be mad at you," Jasper says while kissing her temple.

Evangeline takes a deep breath, calming herself first. "I was with child."

Jasper went silent and rubbed his thumb on her waist, and turned her around so she could face him. "I know."

"You know? How?" Evangeline asks frantically.

Jasper sighs. "When I received the news from your parents that you were murdered, I went to our house, and I saw in our bed that you knitted these little socks and a blanket, and I just knew from that."

"I'm sorry; if I just stayed put in the house, we could've had a normal life, a family. We would still be human," Evangeline says as she leans to him, and he just hugs her figure.

"Darlin', it's not your fault. It's been a long time. You're here now with me. That's what's more important," Jasper says while smoothing her hair.

"We could've had a child," Evangeline says.

"When I saw what you knitted, and if you're still alive and I would've decided that I'll retire from the army, help you throughout your pregnancy, and take care of our child," Jasper says with a smile.

"I tried seeing you, but your blood was too tempting. It smelled so sweet," Evangeline says.

"You were a newborn darling. It's hard having control. It was better that you stayed away," Jasper tells her.

Then Evangeline holds his. She saw marks on his arm, she looked at him questionably, and she just shrugged it off.

"A story for another time. I just want to enjoy this moment with my wife that I haven't seen for a century," Jasper says while hugging her from behind, holding her tightly.
