Interestingly enough while Max is affectionate around Apollo, he seems to react violently to Morgan Hurley when Dion is under his love spell [much like how he responded to Vanessa/Ursula when Eric was under her love spell].

King Eric Bergensen - Though Dion is not as close to his father [than compared to his relationship with his mother], the two still share a healthy father-son relationship as he is fond of the nights he gets to go sailing with his father or play with their flutes at night as a way of building practice.

Queen Ariel Bergensen - Relating to his mother the most, Dion has a close, tight-knit bond with her, often going to her on advice. However, Dion isn't too thrilled whenever he gets scolded by his mother [as it's liked getting lectured by King Triton and that's no fun at all]. Aside from that and his occasional rebellious behavior, the two have a strong mother-son relationship.

Princess Corisande Bergensen - Though Dion is not as close to his oldest sister [than compared to his relationship with his youngest sister], the two still share a typical and healthy sister-brother relationship as Dion often finds goes to his sister for advice on how to survive Auradon Prep [as she graduated].

Princess Melody Bergensen - Having been in his sister's position, Dion and Melody have a tight-knit sibling relationship as the two understand what it's like to be viewed differently from others. More so, Melody is the one who he is closest with as he cares about her deeply.

A dreamer at heart and optimistic by nature, Dion is someone who enjoys seeing the good in everyone. Kindhearted and charismatic, Dion can easily light up a room with his energetic spirit. Adventurous and courageous, Dion eagerly awaits the day he can  explore the world outside of his father's kingdom.

At the same time, Dion is a huge romantic and tends to fall in love at first sight, much like his parents did. Yet, Dion is also naive and tend to be easily manipulated by those who may not have his best intentions at heart. Furthermore, Dion is too stubborn for his own good and tends to persist until he comes out on top.

Horseback riding - As he was taught by his father, Dion is particularly skilled at riding horses.

Open mindedness - Inherited by his mother and further developed as he got older, Dion's ability to have a open mind allows him to connect with others on a deeper level. The sea prince also isn't one to judge and though it was a risk, Dion was one of the AKs to later befriend the new VKs.

Water - As Dion has been surrounded by water his entire life, the prince is excessively close to the currents. As such, the prince feels more comfortable when he is surrounded by water [though this will somewhat change later on after the events of Descendants 2] which is why Dion joined the swim team at Auradon Prep [becoming Co-Captain after being out-beaten by his long-time opponent and rival, Prince Metos] and is currently assisting his rival in starting a canoeing team.

Weakness(es):
Losing Apollonius [his love interest] - This fear has always been apparent from the start of Descendants but truly made an appearance in the middle of the climax for Descendants 3 when Apollo ends up taking a hit meant for the prince by Morgan, losing access to the moonstone opal in the process.

When Apollo falls into the water, Morgan ends up creating a seal, preventing him from escaping. This fear quickly becomes apparent again when Apollo pushes him out of the way and gets turn to stone by Audrey, just moments after Prince Dion [with the help of his family] were able to free Apollo from the seal.

Naïve - Unlike his eldest sister, Cori, Dion can be pretty naive as he [like Prince Ben] did want to see the good in the villains [as the prince has his mother's open-minded nature].

So when the prince came across Morgan Hurley, Dion attempted to befriend the son of Morgana, his decision would come back to haunt him later on when in an effort to find Apollo, he ends up bumping into Morgan... only to get caught in a love spell as history would once again repeat itself.

Archery - Dion is absolutely terrible at the sport but because of his stubbornness, the prince is persistent that he will get better, especially since the boy had a bet on the line with Apollo, who kept lightly teasing the prince to quit. However when the prince gets humiliated by Merida's son and Dion decides to quit, Apollo rejects his request, opting to forgo his victory in favor of teaching the prince lessons [which ends up working in his favor as he gets to spend more time with his crush].

Stubbornness - Much like his eldest sister and his mother, Dion is stubborn and must be right as he isn't one to apologize [mostly]. When persisted with a subject or a topic, he will focus on whatever he is fixated until he is able to finally become satisfied with his end result. While improving the prince's work ethic, this characteristic does tend to annoy people whenever Dion is in this state.

2. Additionally, Dion's relationship with Apollo will also resemble Dion's parents [King Eric and Queen Ariel]'s relationship in the sense of the two repeating history as King Eric once found himself under Ursula's spell [as her human form, Vanessa], which led Queen Ariel to save him.

As such, Prince Dion will unwittingly take the place of his father [King Eric] as he will find himself under Morgan's spell [the son of Morgana, who ends up taking Ursula's place], causing Apollo [taking the place of Queen Ariel] to gather his courage to break the curse on his crush.
