MATCHA TEAย ; kamisato ayaka

REQUESTED? nope.

WARNINGS ; this was made before the release of 2.0 and we're scarce of any ayaka content, so i couldn't grasp much on her personality but here's what i got.

ย also this is sort of a vent one-shot/self-indulgent so it's a bit of hurt and comfort or angst to sort of fluff??? i don't know, it's just got some fun angst. not too much but a small amount.

THE STEAM FROM THE CUP BEFORE YOU SWIRLS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE, the matcha liquid stirred by the silver utensil you wield. Those in the Kamisato house would've assumed you were waiting for the freshly poured tea to cool down, yet Ayaka knows otherwise. Her eyes of aquamarine observe you from afar as she tilts her head to the side to further study your expression.

Your eyes are distant and glazed over towards the window that anybody would've assumed you were admiring the visages of Inazuma. There's a subtle pensive expression upon the features she loved to see in whatever time of light, and she sees how your lips curl downward, how your brows furrow and how you anxiously fidget in your seat. She can sense something's wrong, so as she smoothens the ruffles in her skirt, she quietly approaches you.

Her fan opens with a heavy wooden click, informing you of her nearby presence, yet you remain as still as you are. The Kamisato girl narrows a brow at you that awareness of your surroundings for the most subtle movements was seemingly absent. By now, she's grown more worried than before as her stomach forms a knot, but she continues to compose herself if anything were to happen.

"[Y/N?]" Her calm voice reels you out of your haze, startling you too as the utensil clinks again the rim of the cup, and you nearly tumble out of your seat.

You promptly turn yourself to her, expecting to see her stifling her chuckles at your shocked reaction, but you see nothing but worry in her eyes.

"I-I didn't see you there, my apologies, Madam," You sputtered, immediately observing the table before grabbing the teapot residing on it, "Perhaps, you're interested in a cup of matcha...?"

Ayaka gently smiles, closing her fan as she situates herself on the seat ahead of you, "I'd be delighted."

You nod, pouring the warm beverage into her empty cup while silence bathes the atmosphere between you and her. You finally take a sip out of your tea after stirring it for so long, glancing over at Ayaka, who seems to be staring out the window as well. The moment drones on, which leaves you wishing she would've just left you alone or had never noticed you. That is until her voice rings through your ears again as her gaze lands on you.

"Tell me something, [Y/N]," She hums, taking a drink of her matcha.

You raise a brow, "What is it you'd like to hear, Madam?"

"Tell me something about how you are, I mean," She reiterates, eyes locking with yours, "I don't have much to go off, but you seem far away even if you're here with us still. Your eyes are vacant while you fidget more than usual, and you're just a little less vigilant, is there something the matter?"

You clear your throat, mustering your most convincing smile while you desperately try to maintain eye contact with, "I'm certainly alright, Madam! There's no need to worry about me! I'm just tired!"

"Tired of what?" Queried Ayaka, frowning at your response.

You bite your lip, withdrawing from her gaze as you glance away as you spin your lie, "Well- Just- Wor.,"

From your peripherals, you can see her chuckle, a tender smile gracing her lips, "We've been through many things together, so this persuasive charade you have will not phase me. I know my words are investigative but"

She reaches across the table to offer her hand, "Do not see me as your Madam, someone you must serve and satisfy. See me as Ayaka, the one who you hold close. You can tell me what is wrong, I assure you, you'll have my full attention."

You're left stunned by her craftsmanship of comfort, and you give a dry laugh, squeezing your hands around hers. You find your head resting on the table as you feel your emotions surge through you.

"Madam- I mean, Ayaka, I think I messed up," You confess.

Her head tilts to the side, "Would you like to elaborate?"

"Maybe it was a few nights ago, but there was a feud happening near Uyuu Restaurant, involving others and a friend of mine," You glance at Ayaka, wondering if you should continue.

The Kamisato girl nods at you, hanging onto every word that falls off the tip of your tongue.

"I said something that I thought would be helpful, but my friend lashed out at me and told me terrible things before storming out. I didn't even have time to act as I still had to help settle things down," You sigh, "I'm pretty sure they hate me, Madam- Ayaka."

Ayaka squeezes your hand reassuringly, "Well, this was under a moment of distress, correct?"

"Correct."

"I'm sure they never intended to hurt your feelings as we humans can act impulsively amidst blind rage or moments of pressure," Thought Ayaka.

You sigh again, "I know, but it left such a sour feeling to form in my stomach and-" Your eyes start to sting and blur, "I feel like such a horrible person."

The same tender smile appears upon her features again, letting go of her grasp on you to wipe away a tear rolling down your face. "This world isn't purely black and white as it lives in shades of grey, though there can be times where this rule applies. But, nobody can purely good nor evil."

Her head turns to look out, the rays of sunlight starting to descent under the horizon. "As I've said, we've spent so much time together and from what I see? You're striving to be a good person, no matter what, and I believe you are too. I'm sure some people can agree with that."

You chuckle at her words, bringing her hand up to your lips and placing a kiss on her knuckles, "Thank you, Ayaka."

You don't notice the way her cheeks seer at your action, along with how her eyes widen. She's quick to compose herself as you let go of her hand, sipping the tea that must've been colder by now.

"If you'd so desire, would you like to hear one of Tohma's shenanigans with Yoimiya from last night?" Ayaka suggests.

You smile at her, "I'd love that."ย

A/N; this was pretty messily written, yet then again this was pretty vent-y and self-indulgent. nonetheless, i hope you found some enjoyment in it. have a good day/night, and make sure to remember to drink water.
