People said the world was beautiful, a work of art, to be admired day after day.

You wouldn't know, because you hadn't met your soulmate. So to you the world was black and white, you couldn't see the 'wondrous colour' in anything.

It was bleak, and ugly.

You had waited for what had seemed forever for your soulmate, and it would break your heart if he didn't exist.

"Stark, I've got the files you asked for," you said, dropping the folder on his desk.

As an intern under Tony Stark resulting from a school competition, it was somehow the luckiest and most testing jobs you'd ever held. It did not help that Stark himself was one of the most annoying people you'd ever met.

"Thank you, Y/N," Tony took an obnoxiously loud sip of his coffee. "By the way, have you met Underoos?"

"Fucking who?"

"Y/N!" Tony sighed.

"It's not like you use better language, Stark."

"Bitch."

"Ha!"

"Anyway. Parker, c'mere!" Tony yelled.

Someone finally your age came over, and the second you made eye contact your eyes began to burn. As you looked around you, you saw that the same greys, blacks and whites that you had lived in your whole life, had transformed to other wondrous shades you didn't know the names of, the world suddenly ... in colour.

"Holy shit!" you and 'Parker' said at the same time.

"Oh, great, they're soulmates," Tony rolled his eyes.

You ignored him and reached a hand out to the guy in front of you.

"Y/N Y/L/N."

"Peter Parker."

You tentatively shook hands.

Peter was wearing the most adorable, goofy smile you'd ever seen, and you couldn't stop yourself from mirroring the curve of his lips as neither of you dropped the other's hand.

"Y/N," he said, bringing you from your thoughts as you looked into his eyes. "Would you- after work's over, would you go on a date with me?"

You didn't think you could smile any wider, but somehow you managed, squeezing his hand as he squeezed back. "Of course."
