We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes

Lola places her hands against the wall of the shower as she lets the hot water run down her back. She was dead two hours ago, now she's back in her home trying to come to terms that not only did she come back to life, she's now human.

She forces herself out of the shower, knowing she would have happily stayed in there even once her fingers went wrinkly. She wraps a towel around her before attempting to keep her balance by holding onto the sink.

Lola's gaze slowly moves up until she is staring at herself in the mirror. On the outside, she looks like she always does. But on the inside, she's completely different compared to what she was like the last time she was in this bathroom. The subtle craving for blood that always lingered in the back of her throat has completely vanished.

Instead there's a dryness in her throat, an almost irritating feeling that feels worse every time she swallows. Ignoring that feeling, Lola swiftly changing into an oversized t-shirt before walking out of the bathroom to be greeted by Adrianna holding a glass of water,

"I figured you'd need this."

Lola smiles over to her best friend, "You read my mind, as usual. Are you sure you're not a witch too?" Adrianna chuckles at Lola's comment, Lola walks over to her side of the bed and collapses onto it, "Where's Nik?"

Adrianna sits on the edge of the bed beside her, "He's saying goodbye to his brothers downstairs." Lola nods, then finishes the glass of water and places it on the side. Adrianna frowns at her friend, knowing she is holding something back, "Are you sure you're okay?"

"I told you I'm fine."

"You've said that word so many times it doesn't even sound like a word anymore."

Lola sighs as she looks up at the ceiling, "I'm just in shock I'm actually here, I guess. That I'm human again." She sits up in the bed and faces Adrianna, "I'm feeling kinda guilty as well."

Adrianna frowns, "What do you have to feel guilty about?"

"There was a moment on the other side, just one quick moment where I was questioning whether to come back or not." Lola admits with guilt in her tone, "A moment where I thought what would even be the point of coming back, thinking me being gone wouldn't have impacted on anyone."

Adrianna leans closer, taking Lola's hands, "How can you for even a second think that way?"

"I regretted just thinking it straight away. I was stupid to think that, I know that. You could call it survivors guilt, the fact I was able to come back so easily but then had Aunt Cora, Lexi and even Dominic on the other side that this wasn't possible for and yet they all helped me to get back here."

"You shouldn't feel guilty for people helping you when it was their choice. It wasn't your time."

"I seen Klaus when I was over there. Before anything happened I had to see him. I wasn't ready to leave him, I'll never be ready to leave him." Lola's voice breaks as she sobs, "I love him so much."

Adrianna pulls Lola in a hug, "I know you do, he knows you do." They pull away from each other, Adrianna pulls back Lola's hair from her face, "A lot has happened, get your rest and we'll speak tomorrow."

----------------------------------------------

Lola was only asleep for an hour before she begins to wake up, sensing something was missing. She turns around in the bed to see what was missing was Klaus laying beside her. Instead he is sat in his usual spot beside the bed.

Lola laughs slightly as she lifts her head up a little, "Is this a new habit of yours? Watching me sleep?"

"I fear if I don't then this will all be a dream and you won't actually be here." Klaus admits in a raspy voice.

"It's not a dream." Lola reaches her arm out, inviting Klaus to lay back in the bed with her which is complies with. He lays beside her as she places her hand against his cheek, lightly pecking his lips, "I'm right here."

She rests her head against Klaus' chest, within minutes she falls asleep again feeling content being in the arms of the man she loves. Klaus' gaze doesn't leave Lola for a second, continuously watching her shoulders move with her breathing. Klaus waits until he knows that Lola has fallen into a deep sleep before carefully moving out of the bed, not wanting to wake her. He quietly opens the door before giving Lola one last look and then descends down the stairs, grabbing a bottle of bourbon and leaving the house without a sound.

The sun seeps through the windows the next morning. Lola stretches as she begins to wake up, turning in the bed to face Klaus who again isn't there, nor is he sat in his usual spot. Everything that has happened is a shock for him too, Lola understands that. Yet her heart sinks a little that her first morning as a human, he isn't by her side.

Was it selfish of her to think like that?

Already fed up with the day, Lola pulls she sheets over her head, refusing to leave the bed. But she gets pulled away from her little pity party at the sound of a soft knock at the door. She peers her head over the sheets to see Adrianna cautiously walking in.

Adrianna looks over to see only half of Lola's face peering through the sheets, "Please tell me it's just you under there."

Lola pulls the sheet further down, now Adrianna seeing the fed up look on Lola's face, "Yes."

Adrianna sighs with relief as she fully opens the door, "Oh thank god." She walks into the room, kicking the door shut with her feet carrying a large tray with an array of food.

Lola lifts her head up slightly, taking in everything on the tray, "What's all this?"

"It's your first morning as a human again so you need to eat." Adrianna laughs as she looks down at the tray, "But I couldn't decide what to make you so I made everything."

Adrianna can tell by Lola's face she's feeling overwhelmed so she puts the breakfast to the side and climbs into bed with her, "Do you want to dance it out?"

Lola pulls the sheet over her face yet again and mumbles, "Maybe later."

Adrianna sighs as she pulls the sheet off Lola's face, "Okay I know something is wrong if you don't even want to dance it out. What's up?"

Lola takes a deep breath as she pulls away her messy hair caused by Adrianna ripping the sheets off her, "It's nothing, it's just a lot to take in. Have you seen Klaus?"

Adrianna shakes her head, "Not since last night. Is everything okay between you both?"

"I think so, he just seems a bit off."

"It's a lot for him to take in as well."

Lola turns over to face Adrianna and takes her hand, "Nice ring by the way." She sits up in bed and rests her back against the head of the bed, "Come on then, how did he do it?"

Adrianna smiles so broad, practically ear to ear as she now lays down on the bed, sighing, "Oh, Lo, it was perfect. On the beach at sunset. Just like how we used to always picture it, I assume you already knew though."

Lola shrugs with a mischievous smirk, "I may have said something along the lines of making sure it was at sunset on a beach." She lays back down beside Adrianna, taking hold of her hand again, "That way I was sorta there in spirit. You should go back to Nate, it's not fair for me to keep you here."

Adrianna looks at Lola confused, "I'm not leaving you after everything that's happened."

"I know you hate me saying this word, but I'll be fine, Ade. I swear. We'll see more of each other though, promise?"

"I sorta made you promise to an epic tequila party at least once a month when you were semi-dead."

"That sounds good to me." Lola gets out of the bed, walking towards her dresser, "Well, we haven't had one yet so let's start now."

Lola gets some of her clothes out of the dresser as Adrianna walks over to her holding her Aunt's grimoire, "I like that plan and why don't we have a look through this while doing so?"

Lola glances down at the book before looking back at Adrianna with excitement filling her eyes, "There's something else we need to do first."

-----------------------------------------------

At the Lockwood mansion, Hayley is sitting in the living area with a hybrid, Chris. Chris is pouring Hayley a shot when Tyler walks into the room, Hayley looks over to him with a smirk.

Tyler looks at the pair shocked, "You're still going? I drank enough last night and then I slept, which is what you guys should have done."

Chris shrugs, "We're just paying our respects to Dean."

Tyler looks around the room unimpressed by all the empty alcohol bottles, "That's great, Chris, but could you pay them at a bar instead?"

"Don't be mad. We're celebrating our fallen hybrid friend." Hayley walks over to Tyler, forcing a shot down his throat. Tyler steps back slightly as Hayley slowly swipes her thumb across his bottom lip and places her thumb into her mouth without removing eye contact from Tyler.

Tyler looks at her dumbfounded as Klaus enters the room, he rests against the door frame looking over to Hayley, "Well, don't let me interrupt."

Tyler turns to face Klaus, "I didn't know you were here."

Klaus steps closer to Tyler and glares at him, "Clearly." He steps further into the room, taking a drink from the bottle of bourbon he brought with him then turns to face Tyler and Hayley, "No, I just popped round to celebrate Dean's successful retrieval of the vampire hunter. Yet when I arrived, I learnt that not only was Dean unsuccessful, but that Elena killed the hunter."

"Well, maybe if you had let Dean use force on Connor instead of sending him in on a suicide mission." Hayley snaps.

Klaus glares over to Hayley, "Maybe you should mind your business, wolf girl."

Tyler frowns, "What do you care if Connor's dead anyway?"

"I have my reasons. They've ceased to matter. Cheers." Klaus raises the bottle of bourbon and takes a drink of it.

Hayley steps closer to Klaus, arms folding against her chest, "Shouldn't you be with Lola right now? You know, being there for her after she's came back from the dead."

Klaus clenches his jaw, quickly growing irritated at Hayley's attitude, "Why would that involve you?"

Hayley tilts her head to the side, looking amused, "She's not told you, has she? Lola hasn't told you how we know each other." She laughs as she shrugs her shoulder, "She must not trust you as much as you think she does."

Klaus look over Hayley's shoulder, glaring over to Chris, "You're coming with me."

-----------------------------------------------

Lola is sat on the ground outside of the old Salvatore house, leaning against the largest Oak tree picking bits of grass out of the ground in boredom.

Adrianna huffs as she looks over to Lola who doesn't have any dirt marks on her yet Adrianna has several as she digs, "You know you could actually help?"

Lola shrugs as she continues pulling grass out of the ground, "I'm fragile these days, I think it's best I just observe."

Adrianna rolls her eyes as she continues to dig, not long later hitting something hard in the ground, "I got something."

Adrianna wipes away the dirt revealing an emerald green box, she takes it out of the ground and passes it over to Lola. Lola opens it up to reveal all of Cora's magical objects, filling Lola's heart with nostalgia. She only was able to see these for a moment when she was younger before it was all took away from her. Her eyes begin to fill and feels a strong sensation of happiness that she is now able to be who she was always meant to be.

"Is this what you need?"

Lola stands up as she still holds onto the box, "Yeah it is."

They both arrive back at the mansion and head into the study. Adrianna grabs the tequila bottle, both pouring them a glass as Lola sits on the couch and opens up the box, taking out the first object she sees.

Adrianna walks over to where Lola is sitting and sits beside her, "So how does this work?"

"I just have to focus while holding them."

"And you've never met anyone else that is like you?"

"Never." Lola takes a sip of her tequila and places it down on the table, "Klaus and I tried to find some in the early 1900s but we never had any luck. Then there was talk there was someone like this mid-nineties but then there was no sign of them all of a sudden."

"What is it with siphoners and going missing?"

"Who knows." Lola closes her eyes as she holds one of the objects, "Okay now I just concentrate."

It falls silent between the pair as Lola concentrates on siphoning the magic out of this object. Adrianna watching intently, her mouth gapes open when she sees a red aura surrounding Lola's hands. She sits back slightly, "Uh, your hands are glowing red. Is that normal?"

"I'm trying to concentrate here, Ade."

"Right." Adrianna raises her hands up slightly as she whispers, "Sorry."

When Lola can sense there's no more magic left within the object, she opens her eyes to see the red aura has gone, "Okay I think it worked."

"So now what?"

Lola picks up her grimoire and begins to look through all of Cora's spells, "What spell shall we try first? Okay, got it. Lets start off simple, can you pass me that candle?"

Adrianna stands and grabs the candle that was on the table behind them. She slowly walks back over, her brows furrowed together, "Please don't burn the house down."

"Don't you have any faith in me?" Lola retorts, she places the candle on the table in front of them, "Phesmatos incendia."

They both look at the candle in shock to see a flame. Adrianna squeals with excitement at what she's just witness, "It worked."

She looks over to Lola who is still staring at the candle in shock, she inhales a shaky breath, her shoulders rising and falling raggedy. Adrianna takes hold of her hand, trying to shake Lola out of the daze she is in, "It worked, Lo!"

"I did that?" Lola mumbles, not quite believing it. She looks at Adrianna in shock, "I actually did that, you didn't use a lighter?"

Adrianna playfully hits Lola's arm, "Now who doesn't have faith! Holy shit, you're actually a witch!"

A surprised, breathy wave of laughter escapes Lola as she comes to terms that she's just used magic for the first time which is when Klaus walks through the door. Lola looks over at him with a beaming smile, "Hey, there you are! Look!" She picks up the candle, "I just lit this with magic!"

Klaus looks over to the pair with no emotion on his face, instead he just clears his throat and walks further into the house. Adrianna looks over to Lola concerned, Lola sighs passing the candle over to Adrianna, "I'll be right back."

Lola walks into the room where Klaus is standing with his back to her, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong." Klaus mumbles, continuing with his back to Lola as he pours himself a drink.

"Clearly something is, Nik, or you wouldn't be smelling like a brewery." Lola walks further towards him with her arms crossed against her chest, "Where have you been all morning?"

Klaus turns around to respond but then looks over to the doorway to see Chris standing there awkwardly holding an unconscious Elena, "Where do you want her?"

"Downstairs."

Lola's soft expression turns into a confused one, her eyebrows furrowing together, "What's going on? Why is Elena here?"

Klaus' grip on his glass of bourbon tightens, "Elena has the Hunter's Curse."

Not really knowing anything that happened once Connor killed Lola, she is surprised to learn Connor's fate, "She killed Connor?"

You'd have to be blind to not notice the statue like posture Klaus is currently portraying, annoyance covering his face, "You look surprised. Disappointed you weren't able to do so yourself?"

Lola can feel the sudden animosity that has been created been them both, "What are you talking about? My plan was never to kill Connor."

"So then why go after him?"

"Stefan let him go, Nik! I had to do something, he was going to try and kill us all!"

Klaus scoffs slightly, he glares towards Lola, "Well he succeeded in one death, didn't he?"

Lola sighs as she turns away slightly, "You're mad."

Klaus slams the glass down on the table beside him, making Lola flinch, "Of course I'm mad! How could you let that happen?"

"I never planned to get killed by Connor!"

"Are you sure about that?"

Lola scoffs, shrugging her shoulders, "What's that supposed to mean?"

Klaus stood in front of Lola, fists clenched, "I heard what you said last night. That you were considering not completing the spell."

Lola closes her eyes as her heart sinks, "Don't-"

"Don't what? Don't state the obvious? The obvious being this was all just one big joke for you?" Klaus points over to Lola, his nostrils flare in anger as he steps closer to her, "You would have just stayed on the other side while everyone over here would be waiting by your side until you woke up. Not realising that you weren't going to wake up!"

"But I did!" Lola raises her voice, shoulders broad as she glares up at Klaus, "I did wake up, I did complete the spell! Did you even bother to eavesdrop into the rest of that conversation?"

"I didn't particularly want hear your reasoning as to why you were going to stay over there." Klaus turns his back on Lola once more as he walks back over to the drinks table, silence between them both. He finishes his drink and turns to face Lola again, a mixture of anger and hurt in his eyes, "After all, it's not like your death impacted anyone, did it?"

The tears stung Lola's warm eyes as she stared at him blankly, scared to blink because then the flood of tears would escape. Of course, that's the last thing he overheard, it's absolutely typical. Her lips form into a thin line as she struggles to keep her trembling chin under control. Her throat becomes dry, not daring to swallow as she clenches her fists so tight her knuckles become white.

Chris clears his throat from behind Lola, "She's waking up."

The soft, gentle look that is usually on Klaus' face when he is in the presence of Lola now replaced with anger and frustration. He sighs heavily as he storms out of the room straight past Lola.

Lola now feeling like she can breathe that he's left the room begins to breathe erratically, continuing to stop herself from completely breaking down. Her hand is brought up to her face as she covers her mouth to mask the heavy breathing while the other hand holds onto the wall beside her to keep her balance.

Lola jumps slightly as she feels a warm hand softly against her shoulder. Adrianna walks around to face Lola, "Are you okay?"

Lola nods lightly as she clears her throat, she takes a deep breath avoiding Adrianna's sympathetic stare, "Yeah I don't want to be in this house right now, let's go."

-----------------------------------------------

There was an uncomfortable silence between Adrianna and Lola as Adrianna drove them both to the Salvatore boarding house. Mainly on Adrianna's side, not knowing what to say to Lola who is clearly upset by the unexpected confrontation with Klaus.

As soon as she pulls the car up, Lola gets out straight away and walks through the boarding house. Sighing with relief she's back here after not truly being here for so long.

Adrianna soon follows her and closes the door behind them, "Are you sure it's okay to be here?"

"Yeah, this is still my house so I can come round whenever I want." Lola walks straight over to the drinks table, looking through what to start on first. She picks out one of her favourite bourbons, "Plus, Damon has the best alcohol stash over here."

"Looking for something?"

Lola jumps at the voice suddenly behind her, she was so startled she drops the bottle of bourbon and is smashes all over the floor. She whips around to see a smug looking Damon standing behind her, "You're such an asshole! I can't believe you made me waste all that bourbon!"

Damon laughs as he reaches behind Lola grabbing her another bottle, "We're back to jumpy human Lola, this will be fun."

Lola glares at her brother as she watches him walk over to where Adrianna is sat, "Yes, ha-ha! Lets all laugh."

Damon collapses onto the couch beside Adrianna, "How long have you been here?"

"Not long."

Damon dramatically puts his hand against his chest as he looks over to Lola, "I'm hurt, Lo. You didn't even invite me to your daytime drinking party."

Lola shoots her arms up as she walks over to the pair with the bottle of bourbon. She twists the cap open and flicks it off taking a quick drink of it before handing it over to Damon, "By all means, join in."

Lola falls onto the couch opposite both Damon and Adrianna. Damon clears his throat as he leans forward, resting his elbows onto his lap, "How are you doing? After everything that happened?"

Adrianna laughs as she stands up and sits on the other couch beside Lola handing her the bottle, "We're not allowed to ask her that."

Damon looks at Adrianna confused, "What?" He then looks over to Lola who is glaring over at Adrianna then back over to Damon, "I know that look, why are you angry?"

Lola shrugs, "Maybe that's just my face now. Changing subject! Where is our baby brother?"

"That's what I'm wondering as well, you've not spoken to him today?"

"He text me this morning checking up on me but that was it. Why what's going on?"

Damon shakes his head as he sits further back into the couch, "I don't wanna bother you with it all."

"Why, because it's about Elena?" Lola gets straight to the point making Damon look over to her taken back making her scoff, "Come on, it's so obvious. Thinking about it now, Stef is probably at the mansion."

"Why would he be there?"

"Klaus took Elena there." Lola looks over to Damon who has a mixture of shock and annoyance on his face. Lola cringes at herself, "Uh, I don't think I was meant to tell you that." She leans in closer towards Adrianna, "Was I meant to tell him that?"

Adrianna covers her mouth trying not to laugh, "I don't think you were."

Lola shrugs and finishes the rest of her bourbon, "Oh well." She looks over to Damon who still remains sitting down, "What are you still doing here? Go on." She waves Damon off to leave, he hesitates about to say something until Lola interrupts him, "Don't even dare say what I know you're gonna say. It's bad enough I've got one babysitter, I don't need a second."

Damon rushes over to his sister, kissing the top of her head. Then looks over to Adrianna with his classic older brother look on his face as he points down to Lola, "She is not allowed to drink any more." He grabs his jacket and walks over to the front door, "Love you, Lo."

"Love you too!" Lola shouts back as she watches Damon leave, as soon as the door closes behind him she gets up and walks back over to the drinks table and grabs a bottle of tequila and two shot glasses. She slumps back onto the couch beside Adrianna, "Anyway, lets open this. A toast, to our monthly tequila parties!"

Adrianna laughs as she pours both of them a shot and raises their glasses, "Cheers!"

-------------------------------------------

Elena sits on a large leather chair in the cellar of the Mikaelson mansion, hugging her legs up to her chest when Chris walks in holding a duffel bag, "Clothes, toothbrush." He drops the bag onto the bed and turns to face Elena, "Klaus said you're gonna be here until he figures out where to put you."

Elena covers part of her face, not wanting to look at anyone in fear she will hallucinate Connor like she has been all day, "Just...please go away."

As Chris walks away, Connor appears from behind him, "I can't. I'm going to be with you forever, a constant reminder of what you've become. So, tell me, how did it feel to drain the life out of me?"

Elena shakes her head, looking at the ground before looking up at Connor, guilt all over her face, "It was horrible. It was the worst thing that I've ever done."

"You're lying."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are. Tell the truth."

Elena sits up on the chair, "I am telling the truth."

"You're lying."

Something in Elena snaps as she stands up from the seat, stepping closer to Connor, "Fine! I liked it. I loved the taste of your blood. Are you happy?"

Connor looks at Elena with no expression on his face, "I'm not happy, Elena. I'm dead. Did you know I had a family? A brother, parents."

Elena eyes begin to fill with tears as she shakes her head, "I'm sorry. I'm โ€“ I'm really sorry."

"Are you sorry about your parents? It's your fault they died."

"Don't."

Connor steps closer to Elena, making Elena step backwards, "They ran off Wickery Bridge with you in the car, but they weren't supposed to be there, were they?" Elena trips slightly at the chair behind her, she looks back over to Connor who continues to look at her with hatred in his eyes, "They died because of you. And I'm not going to stop until you've taken your last, miserable breath."

"I'm not going to let you do this to me." Elena snaps as she walks away from Connor.

Connor laughs, "Then get rid of me. Kill yourself. You never wanted to be a vampire in the first place, now look at what you've become. You're a monster, and you deserve to die." Elena shakes her head, she turns away from him covering her ears, "You don't want to listen to me? Fine."

When Elena turns back around, Connor is no longer there but now is greeted by no other than Katherine Pierce, "Then how about you and I have a little chat."

"Katherine?"

"Did you miss me?"

Elena pushes past Katherine, falling onto the same chair she was sat on before and begins to sob. Katherine groans as she starts to circle around Elena, "Don't you ever stop crying? Poor Elena, always the victim. Except now you're a killer. What does Stefan think of the new you?"

"Shut up!"

"The girl he fell in love with is gone, you know?" Katherine taunts, "You're like me now, maybe worse."

"I made a mistake." Elena sobs, "I can do better."

"No, you can't. You're a vampire." Katherine leans down in front of Elena, with a vicious smirk on her face, "You'll kill again, it'll change you and it'll keep changing you until you're just like me."

Elena stands up, glaring at Katherine, "I am nothing like you."

"I was you before you even existed. And when Stefan knew the real me, he hated me. And now he's gonna hate you too." Katherine turns around, walking towards the bed, "But, at least you still have Damon."

"Shut up!" Elena snaps, she runs to attack Katherine but Katherine disappears making Elena fall onto the bed. Elena stays in the same place as she begins to sob harder.

Until she can hear a laugh coming from behind her. Elena slowly stands up from the bed and turns around to see Lola sitting on the leather chair laughing at her, "Now that was funny."

Elena looks over to the Salvatore sister confused as she wipes away her tears, "Lola?"

Lola stands up from the chair, stepping closer to Elena, "Hello, Elena."

Elena runs her hands through her hair, tightly closing her eyes, "This isn't real." She opens her eyes again to still see Lola standing in front of her, "You're not here, it's not real."

Lola pulls her index finger along Elena's neck, making Elena shiver, "What if I was to pierce that pretty little neck of yours, would it feel real then?"

"You wouldn't."

Elena turns away from Lola but Lola appears in front of Elena again, tilting her head as she narrows her eyes towards Elena, "Wouldn't I?" Lola stabs Elena in the neck with a fork, Elena gasps in shock as she falls to the ground.

She goes to pull the fork out but it isn't actually there. Elena remains sitting on the floor, unable to move because of shock as Lola circles around her, "You ruin everything you touch, Elena. Lets have a recap, shall we?"

"I'm definitely up for a recap." Katherine speaks up who is now laying across the bed picking at her nails.

Lola hums to herself as she continues to circle around Elena who is sobbing on the floor, "Lets see, parents dead; adoptive and biological, Aunt Jenna dead, Alaric dead and who's to blame for all of that?" Lola crouches down in front of Elena with an evil look on her face, "You. Who will be next I wonder? Maybe Jeremy? It's not like it wouldn't be the first time he's died because of you."

Elena stands up with her fists clenched, shoulders rolling back, "You don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't I?" Lola steps closer to Elena, "There's a reason you're hallucinating me, Elena. You feel guilt. I died because you couldn't help but get involved. But before then I lost my brothers to you, they were willing to drop anything to do with me and go running to you. How do you think it feels? To have the people you love most in your life abandon you for a worthless nobody."

Elena looks at Lola with tears in her eyes, feeling guilty about what has happened between Lola and her brothers, "I didn't mean for that to happen to you, Lola."

Lola glares at Elena, "But it did happen and it was all because of you. Not only did you rip my brothers away from me, you're pushing them away from each other."

"No."

Elena turns away from Lola but Lola keeps on taunting, "You tore them apart. They will be so much better once you ended this pathetic excuse you call a life."

"Shut up!" Elena screams, she turns around and neither Lola nor Katherine are there anymore. She slumps onto the floor, bringing her knees up to her chest as she hysterically sobs.

--------------------------------------------

Hayley steps into the boarding house after receiving a text off Adrianna to come over. It's been a couple of hours since her and Lola have been here and now that Lola is human, she feels the hit of alcohol a lot quicker than Adrianna does.

Lola perks up as she sees Hayley walk through the door, she stands up and rushes over to Hayley pulling her in a hug, "You finally got here!"

Hayley pulls away from the hug, looking at Lola concerned, "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine." Lola bursts out laughing, waving Hayley off as she sits back down on the couch, "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine." She clears her throat, glancing between Adrianna and Hayley who both look unsure, "I'm fine."

Adrianna passes Hayley a glass of tequila, "She's not fine."

Lola starts laughing again, Hayley narrows her eyes over to her, "Are you drunk?"

"Uh, no. If I was drunk then I wouldn't be able to do this." Lola grabs an M&M out of the candy bag, she throws it up in the air attempting to catch it in her mouth but fails miserably and the M&M hits her in the eye, "Never mind."

Adrianna looks over to Lola unimpressed, "She wouldn't be if she would eat like she's supposed to!"

Lola looks up at Adrianna and scoffs, holding up the bag of M&Ms, "I am eating."

Adrianna gives Lola one of her classic formidable no-bullshit looks as she tilts her head, then grabbing the bag of M&Ms from her, "Not just chocolate. Did you even eat anything I made for you this morning?"

Lola smirks, "Nope."

"Why?"

Lola sits up and snatches the bag out of Adrianna's hands, "Because you're not my mom."

Adrianna rolls her eyes then looks over to Hayley, "She's upset, she's had a fight with Klaus."

"SHOT!" Lola shouts as she shots tequila, she looks over to Adrianna and Hayley who both look confused, she shrugs, "I made a game with myself every time you mention that word, I take a shot."

"What, Klaus?" Hayley questions.

"SHOT!" Lola chuckles as she stands up, "Come on, we're going to the Grill."

---------------------------------------------

"Do you understand why I think Hayley is being weird now?" Lola says as both her and Adrianna walk towards the grill after Hayley says she was going to go back to see Tyler, "She just appears, acts all shady and then disappears."

Adrianna grabs Lola's arm to make her stop walking, "Another reason why I should stay here longer."

"She will probably act worse if we both stay here."

"So what are you gonna do?"

"I don't know."

Lola sighs as she opens the door to the grill, straight away locking eyes with Klaus who is sitting by the bar. Lola freezes in her spot, not knowing what to do, Klaus freezing in his seat also not knowing what to do.

Adrianna pulls Lola out of her daze as she takes hold of her hand, "Do you want to leave?"

Lola shakes her head and clears her throat, "No, I'm not leaving."

Lola walks straight towards Klaus, he stands up from his seat with a guilt ridden look on his face, "Lola." Lola walks straight past him but he takes hold of her hand making her stop, "Lola, talk to me."

"Why should I?" Lola retorts as she yanks her hand out of his hold, "So you can make me feel even more guilty? You can't make me feel more guilty than I already do!"

Lola pushes past Klaus and walks to a booth away from him, Klaus goes to follow her but Adrianna puts her hand up to block him, "Just give her a minute." Klaus looks at Adrianna, he hesitates for a moment but pushes past her and follows Lola.

"You're Adrianna, right?" Caroline asks as she walks up to Adrianna, "Lola's friend?"

Adrianna looks at her confused, "And you are?"

"You don't know me, but I'm hoping you can help."

"Fine, I overreacted!" Klaus admits as he sits in the booth, sitting opposite Lola who refuses to look at him, "But how would you feel if you heard me saying the same thing?" Lola glares over to him with a raised eyebrow making Klaus laugh as he points at her, "Exactly, you'd have acted the same way I did but you're so bloody stubborn you won't admit that."

Lola scoffs looking away from him again, "I'm not stubborn."

"Everything that has happened over the last 48 hours is a lot to take in." A shaky breath falls from his lips as he joins his hands together against the table, "Things have changed, plans have changed."

Lola notices the change in Klaus' tone, more of a sad tone now. Her eyes soften as she looks over to his anxious posture, she reaches her hand over the table to his hands but Klaus pulls away before she can hold his.

Lola's heart sinks at Klaus' actions, "I've changed." She practically whispers as she looks down at the table, she looks up at him as her eyes become glossy, "That's what you're trying to say, isn't? Do you even love me now that I'm not a vampire?"

Silence overcomes them both once again just like this morning, even though they are in the middle of the grill and there are conversations happening around them, it's silent. The air was thick, tension mixing with it. The silence was almost deafening, it was as if the quiet was the answer to Lola's questions.

"We need to talk." Adrianna says as she approaches the table with caution with Caroline hanging behind her.

"Now isn't the time." Klaus snaps.

"It's about Elena." Caroline blurts out, "She's escaped."

Klaus slowly looks up at Caroline as the anger builds, "What did you just say?"

"Stefan broke her out, but she got away and now he can't find her." Caroline admits, Klaus quickly moves out of the booth and starts to walk away until Caroline speaks up again, "They've figured out how to stop the hallucinations!"

Klaus stops in his step, he turns around to face them, "You have ten seconds to tell me everything." Klaus begins to walk away and Caroline follows out of the Grill.

Lola buries her face into the palm of her hands, "Don't even say it, Ade." She looks up at Adrianna with pleading eyes, "Don't even ask if I'm okay. Please."

"Okay, I won't." Adrianna places a bottle of tequila on the table, sliding it over to Lola, "I think we need to continue our tequila party."

"Maybe I should leave with you." Lola says nonchalant as she takes a shot, "I could live in Canada. Piece of cake."

"Well, Lo, there was something I was wanting to talk to you about. Me and-"

Lola looks over Adrianna's shoulder to see Nate walk through the doors, they both catch each other's eyes and Lola stands up from the booth, rushing over to him and pulling him in a hug, "Nate!"

Nate lifts Lola up slightly as they hug, "There she is, it's been a while!"

Nate slides into the booth beside Adrianna, greeting her with a kiss as Lola slides back in opposite them both, "How've you been?"

Nate smiles over to Lola, "I should be asking you that. So, how does it feel being human again?"

Lola scoffs, "Oh you know, it's great!"

Nate looks around the Grill, "Where's Hayley?"

"Who knows!" Lola slides a shot over to Nate, "She appears for one minute and then poof, she's gone again."

Adrianna leans in closer to Nate, "I think we should stay a bit longer."

"You don't need to do that, Ade." Lola takes hold of Adrianna's hand, "We've talked about this."

"Well that was before you had another argument with Klaus."

"It wasn't an argument, things have changed." Lola sighs as she stares down at the empty shot glass on the table, "That's what he said, plans have changed. I have changed."

Nate leans forward slightly over the table, looking over to Lola concerned, "That's what he said to you?"

"He didn't have to, his actions said it on their own." Lola's voice slightly breaking as a tiny tear slipped down her cheek.

"Lo-"

Lola clears her throat, interrupting Adrianna, "So when are we going back to Canada?" She smiles over to them, wiping away the stray tear, "It's been a minute since I've been there, is it still cold?"

Nate narrows his eyes over to Adrianna, "You've not told her?"

Lola glances between them both, "Told me what?"

"I was just about to but then you walked in."

"Uh, hello?" Lola waves in front of them both to get their attention, "Told me what? Oh god, are you pregnant?" Lola bursts out laughing as she shakes her head, "Wait no, that's not even possible."

"We are going to move back to the states." Adrianna announces, "We don't exactly know where yet, we're exploring our options."

"That's great!" Lola exclaims, she claps her hands together looking between the pair, "Okay, tell me. Have you set a date yet?"

"There's no rush."

Lola shrugs, "Sure, why not wait? It's not like you've been waiting decades for Nate to actually propose." She takes yet another shot as Nate kicks her under the table, she glares over to him, "Hey! I'll actually bruise now, dick."

Adrianna perks up as she sits up straight with a broad smile on her face, "Maybe when we do our next tequila party, we can combine it with a wedding planning party!"

Lola looks over to Adrianna, trying to hide the disgust in her face but fails, "A what?"

"Well you need to help me plan it, Lo. You're my maid of honour!"

Lola upper lip pulls up as she wrinkles her nose in disgust, "Oh god, you're totally gonna be a bridezilla."

Nate leans back slightly as he laughs, "She totally is."

------------------------------------------------

After a couple of hours more drinking and catching up in the Grill, and also Lola convincing Adrianna and Nate to go back home, they finally agree.

Nate takes Lola's hand to help her stand up out of the booth, "I really think we should take you home."

Lola waves him off as she laughs, "I'm fine! I can make it back on my own, easy peasy."

"I'll help." A familiar voice appears from behind Lola.

Lola jumps at the sound of the voice behind her, she turns around to see a perky Caroline smiling over to her. Lola links her arm, "See? Caroline will help." She pulls Caroline in closer and leans against her ear, "Where the hell did you come from by the way?"

Adrianna takes both of Lola's hands, "Are you sure?"

"Ade, I swear to god if you keep giving me those puppy dog eyes I'll kick you out of Mystic Falls myself." Lola jokes, she pulls Adrianna in a hug, "I'm gonna be okay, I promise."

Adrianna smiles back at her best friend, "I'll see you soon."

Lola watches them both walk out of the Grill with a smile on her face, but something lingers in the pit of her stomach, she can't figure out what it is.

Caroline stands in front of Lola, smiling at her, "You ready to go?"

Lingering feeling in Lola's stomach begins to travel up her body, she covers her mouth with one hand while holding the other up at Caroline, "Hold that thought."

Lola rushes into the toilets, just about making it into a cubicle before she starts to throw up all of the alcohol she has ingested over the course of today. Caroline rushes in after her, holding Lola's hair back, gently rubbing her back in a soothing manner.

"Oh god, I'm sorry." Lola mumbles as she moves away from the toilet.

Caroline starts to help Lola up, "It's okay, let's get you home."

Lola looks up at Caroline, smiling as she narrows her eyes at her, "You're pretty."

Caroline drives Lola back to the mansion, following her in to make sure she's okay. Lola slowly walks up the stairs, gripping hold of the banister to keep her balance. When she walks into her and Klaus' bedroom she collapses straight onto the bed.

Caroline stands over her holding a water bottle and a bottle of pills, "Drink this and take these." Lola sits up slightly and takes them both then falls back onto the bed. Caroline takes the bottles off her and places them to the side, "How are you feeling?"

Lola holds her head with her eyes closed, "I feel like I've got tiny little versions of Satan hitting my brain with tiny little hammers." She opens her eyes to see Caroline looking around the room curiously, "Not what you were expecting?"

Caroline laughs awkwardly, "Does it sound cliche that I was expecting coffins for beds or something like that?"

Lola scoffs, "He just saves them for special occasions when his family piss him off." Caroline starts to take Lola's shoes off her, Lola looks over to her noticing she's not her usual bubbly self, "You seem stressed, what's up?"

"Well aside from the obvious stuff going on?" Caroline sighs as she sits on the edge of the bed, "It's hard trying to organise the Miss Mystic Falls pageant on your own."

"You know I won Miss Mystic Falls."

"You did?"

"Yep." Lola admits popping the 'P', "In 1864. My escort was Edward Fell, an absolute asshole."

"If you thought he was an asshole then why have him escort you?"

"Because my father hated him and I hated my father. I wanted to piss my father off and it worked. God if he could see me now." Lola laughs as she looks up at the ceiling, "He'd be even more pissed."

Caroline stands up from the bed, smiling down at Lola, "You should get some rest."

"Hey, if you want...I could help you out with the pageant?"

Caroline looks at Lola surprised by her offering, "Really?"

"Why not?" Lola lays on her side, "I've got nothing better to do."

Caroline is just about to reply again but looks over to Lola to see she's already fast asleep. Caroline covers Lola up with the sheets and then quietly leaves the room and the house.

------------------------------------------------

The next morning, Lola awakens with a pounding headache, her eyelids feel like sandpaper due to the bright sun shining in. She shades her eyes with her hands and groans as she notices she is still wearing her outfit from last night. She drags herself out of bed and heads straight into the bathroom taking a hot shower and changing into more comfortable clothing.

Today she definitely isn't going to leave the bed.

When she walks back out of the bathroom she then notices a black box that is on her dresser, she unwraps the white ribbon around it to see a note addressed to her:

Lola,

Consider this your later birthday present.

I want you to always remember a few things. You deserve beautiful things to happen to you. You deserve everything you have waited for. You deserve a good life. You deserve to feel everything you have ever wanted, and you deserve to know that life is one infinite possibility.

I love you so much and I will see you again soon.

Adrianna x

Lola smiles down at the note, then unfolds the white tissue paper to reveal a black silk dress. Adrianna always had the best taste in clothes. She pulls the dress out of the box and holds it against her body as she looks into the mirror, smiling to herself.

But her smile is soon removed from her face when she looks into the mirror to see Klaus standing in the doorway staring at her, with a look on his face she can't read.

As she turns around to face him, he steps further into the room. He pulls his sleeve up and bites into his wrist. Lola steps back and looks over to him confused, "What are you doing?"

Klaus steps closer to her, "Drink from my wrist."

"Why should I do that?"

"Because then you can be a vampire again and then all of this mess will be over." He pleaded, "Everything will go back to the way it was."

Lola shakes her head as she continues to step away from Klaus, "No it won't."

"Yes it will, love." Klaus steps closer to her, making Lola hit against the wall behind her. "You just need to drink."

She shakes her head, "I'm not doing it."

"Please."

"No."

"Love-"

"It won't work!" Lola snaps as she pushes Klaus away from her, he looks at her stunned. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, "I don't know if it will work. Cora said it's unknown if I could become a vampire again."

Klaus scoffs, "Of course you'd be able to, why wouldn't you be able to?"

Lola lets a whoosh of air seep from her mouth as she looks over to Klaus hurt, "Are you really willing to risk that?"

Klaus closes his eyes, instantly regretting his actions, "Of course not, I just-"

"What makes you think I'd even want to be a vampire again?" Lola interrupts him as she walks past him and stands on the opposite side of the room, "You know that you doing this is just proving my point even more that you were aiming the whole 'things changed' towards me."

Klaus bows his head in shame, "I thought I lost you."

"Yeah it must really suck thinking you lost someone." Lola snaps back.

Her eyes sting with fresh tears as she watches Klaus walk out of the room leaving Lola to contemplate on how the hell they're going to be able to move past this.
