After School Special

"Remind me again why I'm doing this?"

Lola looks over to Kol in the passenger seat, unimpressed, as she continues to drive them towards Whitmore College.

Kol laughs as he looks up from the map on his phone, "Because dear Lottie, you love putting yourself in situations that you know you shouldn't. Bekah wants us to get this Professor Shane and take him to the school."

"So I'm driving the getaway car?" Lola retorts, she shifts slightly in her seat at the mention of Rebekah being back, "How long has she been free of the dagger?"

Kol shrugs, "Not long." He looks over to see Lola looking anxious, instantly knowing what she's thinking, "I haven't told her your situation by the way." Lola looks over to him, somewhat relived, "It seemed only fair you are the one to tell your story." Kol looks back down to his phone then points to the next exit, "It's the next left."

Lola drives up towards Whitmore College, pulling up just outside of the entrance doors. They both climb out of the car, Kol fixes his coat and looks over to Lola, "This shouldn't take long."

Lola takes a step closer to the college, "I'll go with you."

Kol holds his hand out to stop Lola from walking further, "No, you are going to wait out here. Keep the engine running."

Lola scoffs in disbelief, "So you're just going to tie me up outside like a dog?"

Kol smirks over to his friend, "That maybe something you and Nik like to get up to but it's not really my sort of thing. This will be quick, five minutes max."

Lola huffs to herself as she leans against the car watching people idly walk by. Looking around the campus makes her think back to the time when Adrianna used to teach Psychology at a college which Lola would tease her about saying she was having a life crisis.

Kol rushes out of the college, keeping to his words of only taking five minutes. He has a panicked Shane grasped in his hold. Shane attempt to break away but it's no use, "Where are you taking me? This is kidnapping!" Kol releases Shane and pushing him slightly towards Lola, when Shane notices Lola his jaw slacks and eyes widen, "Lola Salvatore."

Kol frowns, "You two know each other?"

Lola shrugs as she stands up straight, "He's a fan." Lola reaches her hand out towards Shane, placing it against his chest, "Somnum."

The spell makes Shane pass out, he falls backwards making Kol catch him who looks over to Lola proudly, "Nicely done."

Lola opens up the trunk of the car and Kol puts Shane in it then they begin to drive back towards Mystic Falls. When they arrive at the school, Kol pulls Shane out of the trunk and drags him into the school by his collar as they walk through the halls.

Lola looks around in disgust, not enjoying the fact yet again she's roaming the halls of the school, "For someone who isn't acting like a teenager by going to school, I certainly spend a lot of time here."

Kol releases his grip from a passed out Shane, making him slump onto the floor, "How do you wake him up?"

Lola crouches down beside Shane, placing her hand against his chest, "Surgere." With a gasp, Shane wakes looking around frantic, "Before you say anything, shut up." Shane opens his mouth to say something but Lola interrupts him, "Shut up! Shut. Up."

Kol drags Shane up to his feet by his collar and continues to walk towards the library. He opens the door slightly, stepping in looking amused at what Rebekah is orchestrating, "Sister...Look at this! You're even worse than Klaus."

Rebekah smiles at her brother, "Kol, finally. Did you bring what I asked for?" Kol shoves Shane into the library, Rebekah narrows her eyes towards him as she grins, "You must be Shane."

Lola pushes past Shane and steps further into the library, frowning at what she is seeing, Stefan, Caroline and Elena all sat around a table. Stefan's eyes meet his sister's, he sits up straight, "Lola."

Lola glares towards Rebekah, "What the hell is this?"

"Long time no see, Lola." Rebekah quips, she taps her hand against Lola's shoulder softly, "We'll catch up in a jiffy."

Lola watches as her and Kol leave the room with Shane, when the door shuts she walks towards the table, "What's going on, Stef?"

"Rebekah has compelled us all to stay here." Elena answers before Stefan can.

Lola rolls her eyes as she stands in the space between Stefan and Elena, keeping her back to Elena, "Last time I checked your name isn't Stef."

Stefan shows a weak smile up to Lola as he remains sitting, "It's fine, Lo. You should go."

"I'm not leaving you."

"I'm okay, I promise."

"Maybe you can talk to Rebekah." Elena speaks up once more, with a hopeful tone in her voice, "Get her to let us go."

Lola sighs heavily, trying to keep her cool with a grimace smile on her face she stays looking at Stefan while pointing behind her towards Elena, "She is really annoying."

"Lola, don't."

Stefan takes Lola's hand at an attempt to calm her down but it doesn't work. Lola snatches her hand out of Stefan's grasps and turns to face Elena, "You have some nerve to try and ask me for favours."

Elena's eyes widen at Lola's outburst, but her expression soon drops at the realisation that Lola knows about her and Damon. Lola laughs spitefully, "There was a small moment that I thought maybe, just maybe, you were a genuine person but I was just fooling myself. I should have went with my gut instinct from the start. What is it with you doppelgรคngers, do you enjoy breaking apart families? How many more doppelgรคngers shall I expect to come into our lives and break my brother's heart?"

"Lola..." Caroline interjects with a guilt ridden expression.

"Don't even try and get involved, Caroline!" Lola snaps in her direction, anger pulsating through her veins, "I know it maybe hard for you to stop yourself but don't." Lola's attention goes back to Elena, she places both of her hands on the table, leaning closer to Elena, "Was this your plan all along? String along my brother to pretty much rip out his heart?"

Elena remains quiet, her gaze not leaving the table. Lola slams her hand on the table beside Elena, making her flinch, "You've tore my family apart the least you could do is look me in the eyes."

Elena scoffs then her gaze turning into a glare as she looks up at Lola, "You say I'm the one to rip apart your family and yet you don't even mention everything that Klaus has done."

A exasperated grin appears on Lola's face as she laughs before turning silent and focusing her glare on Elena. Elena frowns as her skin starts to appear red and sweat droplets form on her forehead, "You feel that?" Lola questions without looking away from Elena, "That's your blood starting to boil, that's exactly how I feel every time you open that annoying mouth of yours." Elena starts to gasp in discomfort but Lola doesn't stop, "Every single thing that has happened falls down to you and you alone. I've just figured out how to turn your blood into acid, shall we try that next?"

Caroline stands up from her seat, "Lola, stop!"

But she doesn't stop, if anything Caroline trying to speak to her only infuriated her further. Elena attempts to stand up from her seat, her vision becomes distort due to the spell. Lola reaches her arm out, "Ossox."

A crack is heard from Elena's leg, Lola breaking it with the spell. Elena screams out in pain as she falls to the floor, she tries to drag herself away from Lola. Stefan stands up from his seat, rushing over to his sister, placing his hands on either side of her, "Hey, hey, look at me." Lola ignores him, not moving her glare away from Elena.

Stefan shakes his sister softly, "Lo, look at me." Lola breaks contact from Elena, making Elena sigh with relief on the floor. Lola's breathing becomes erratic as she tries to calm herself down, Stefan puts his hand on Lola's cheek, "It's okay, you're okay. Go home, okay?" Lola opens her mouth to speak but Stefan interrupts, "I'll be fine, just go."

Lola hesitates to leave until Stefan gives her a reassuring nod. Lola glances down at Elena on the floor once more before walking out of the room, slamming the doors behind her.

Elena breathes out a sigh of relief as she comes to a stand, "Thank you."

Stefan scoffs as he sits down at the table again, "I didn't do it for you."

Lola walks through the halls searching for Kol, opening up every classroom she walks by but has no luck. Until she sees Rebekah walking out of the janitor's closet, Lola looks at her agitated, "What's your problem? Why are you doing this?"

"I'm simply just catching up on everything I've missed while my bastard of a brother had me daggered." Rebekah scoffs, raising a brow, "I did hope it wouldn't have lasted this long."

"Meaning?"

Rebekah shrugs as she walks past Lola back towards the library, "Was it too much for my best friend to remove the dagger from my chest?"

Lola laughs slightly as she turns around to face Rebekah, "It's a bit hard to when I died the following day."

Rebekah stops in her step, she looks back at Lola with a shocked expression, "What?"

"The hunter killed me, the spell worked and I came back but now I'm human. Well a witch." Lola crosses her arms against her chest as she steps closer to Rebekah, "So I sorta had to come to terms with that and also the fact last time I spoke to my best friend, she pretty much said I was no one and I had no one."

The colour leaves Rebekah's face hearing Lola's words as her heart sinks, her mouth is agape as her eyes become glossy, "You died?" She practically whispers as her voice breaks.

"So sorry if that ruins your plans to compel me to stay too."

Rebekah's eyes widen at her words, "I wouldn't do that to you, Lola."

It turns silent between the pair, Lola wants to believe Rebekah wouldn't do that although she also used to believe her and Rebekah wouldn't have this awkward tension between them both. She clears her throat, turning on her heel, "I'm going to find Kol."

-----------------------------------------------------

At the Gilbert lake house, Damon is sharpening a wooden stake when he senses Klaus approaching from behind, "If you're here for payback, go for it, 'cause you'll be stuck baby-sitting the little hunter that could."

Klaus sits beside Damon, gesturing towards the stake, "You know, if you adjust your angle a little bit, you'll find a sharper edge."

Damon looks at Klaus, unamused, "I know how to whittle, thanks. Now I know why those hybrids hated you. You are annoying."

"Actually, I'm just perplexed as to why Jeremy hasn't killed any vampires."

"Darwinism, Klaus. He needs to be able to protect himself before we hunt down his first vampire nest."

"And here was I, thinking you were the fun brother!" Klaus jests, "I've heard stories from Lola regarding your Salvatore adventures over the years."

Damon scoffs as he continues to whittle a stake, "If you think we are going to bond just because you have something going on with my sister you have another thing coming." It remains silent between the pair before Damon shifts in his spot, "Where is she anyway? She's been dodging my calls."

Klaus laughs as he shrugs, "Sorry, mate. That's a you and Lola problem."

Damon frowns at the smug attitude Klaus is portraying, "Smug doesn't suit you. But by that smug grin I take it you do know why she's dodging my calls."

"Perhaps I do."

Damon throws the stake on the floor and glares at Klaus, "I'm not interested in games, Klaus. If you know something, tell me."

"Let's play a little game, shall we? Jeremy needs more victims, and there's a whole town of people down the road, just waiting to be turned into vampires for the slaughter."

"You don't think that occurred to me, Klaus?"

"Tragedy is, Damon, it did occur to you, and yet you chose to ignore it. My guess is you did it to impress Elena. Somehow, to honour her, you will find a way to spare innocent lives and walk Jeremy down the moral high road." Klaus taunts, Damon doesn't respond, he flashes a grimace and begins to whittle another stake, "That's why I've already made the necessary corrections."

Damon stares back, confused, "What did you do?"

-----------------------------------------------------

Lola walks into the janitor's closet to see Kol shoving Shane's head into a sink filled with water, "Where is the cure?!"

Kol keeps Shane in the water as he looks over his shoulder to see Lola watching unimpressed, "This is a little melodramatic for my taste, Kol."

Kol pulls a breathless Shane out of the water who remains quiet, "Where is the cure?" Shane doesn't respond, he continues to take deep breaths when Kol smirks over to Lola, "Doing things the harsh way gets you answers, darling."

He shoves Shane back into the sink full of water when Rebekah walks into the closet. Lola shakes her head as she watches Kol, "It looks like it."

Kol yanks Shane up, and Shane is gasping for air. Rebekah steps forward, "You're human. Why do you want it anyway?"

"That's the beauty of this." Shane says between breaths, "You can have it. I just want Silas."

Kol tenses at the mere mention of Silas, he grabs Shane by his shirt, "No. What do you know about Silas?"

"He's the world's first immortal being, who just happens to be imprisoned with the cure...and I want to free him."

"No!" Kol snaps, he shoves Shane under the water again.

Realising that Kol isn't going to stop, Rebekah pushes Kol away from him, "Stop!" Kol lets go of Shane who grips hold of the sink the catch his breath. Rebekah glares over to her brother, "He's of no use dead."

"Did you not just hear what he said?" Kol raises his voice, gesturing towards Shane, "Silas will kill us all, sister."

"Silas does not exist. He is a-a fairytale made up to scare children into eating their vegetables."

"Silas is very real." Shane mumbles in between breaths, "I know where he's buried, and soon I will have the spell that wakes him."

Kol's eyes widen in disbelief, "Wait a second, you're lying. You can't get to him."

"Without his tombstone?" Shane interjects, "Dozens to die in a blood sacrifice? Believe me, I know. I've done it. Those massacres are a pain to engineer."

Lola narrows her eyes towards the Professor, "So that's why you wanted the twelve dead hybrids."

"You're the one who got the council blown up." Rebekah realises.

"It was a noble sacrifice...and temporary, because once I raise Silas, Silas will raise the dead. He will bring back every last soul who died on his behalf."

Kol picks up a thin metal pipe, he rushes towards Shane and drives the pipe straight through Shane's stomach, "No!" Shane slowly sinks down to the fall, dead.

Rebekah looks at Kol, mouth agape, "What the hell was that?!"

Kol shrugs, "You should be thanking me."

"You killed my only chance at finding the cure."

"Silas on the loose would be hell on Earth. Frankly, sister, I don't think you could handle it." Kol pulls out the white oak stake from his jacket, throwing it up in the air before catching it.

Lola's eyes widen as she cautiously steps closer to him, "Kol..."

Rebekah's body tenses, "How did you get that?"

"Way too easily." Kol pushes past Rebekah, taking hold of Lola's hand, "We're leaving, Lottie."

-----------------------------------------------------

Lola sits beside the kitchen counter, yawning as she watches Kol pace around the kitchen anxiously as he continues to speak about Silas.

Lola groans as she runs her hands through her hair, "Can you stop with the constant pacing? You're giving me whiplash."

"I've told you about Silas before, Lottie." Kol finishes his drink and points the empty glass towards Lola as he continues to pace, "Believe me, you don't want them to wake him up."

Lola rolls her eyes, "Why should I care about some mystical guy? I couldn't care less if they wake him or not." She shrugs as she stands up from her seat, walking towards a fruit bowl on the other counter, "He's just make believe anyway."

Kol scoffs, "Trust me, he isn't. If they succeed in bringing Silas back then we are all doomed." He stops pacing and looks over to Lola hurt, "I thought out of everyone, you would believe me about this."

Lola purses her lips as she looks at the apple in her hands, before looking over to Kol, holding it out, "Would you like an apple?"

"An apple?" Kol deadpanned.

"Well you know what they say..." Lola clears her throat to try and hide her laughter, "An apple a day keeps Silas at bay."

Kol tenses at Lola's attempt of humour, he storms out of the room as he shakes his head. Lola sighs, "Oh come on, Kol, I was joking!"

Kol pushes past Klaus who enters the house. He walks into the kitchen, raising a brow towards Lola, "What did I walk in on?"

Lola rolls her eyes as she passes Klaus a glass of bourbon, "Your brother being dramatic."
