CARLA WHEELER thought her life had gone back to normal.

After the event that was the disappearance of Will Byers—an event that caused the Wheeler pain, tears, gained her scars and a shit-ton of post-traumatic-stress—Carla was finally settling back into every-day life within Hawkins, Indiana.

She drove with Jonathan to school every morning and sat with him at lunch, discussing whatever seemed to pop up—leaving the Upside Down out of the conversation.

She joined in on the Party's campaigns, watching as the boys cheered, screamed, groaned and just had fun—noticing the way Mike's face would slowly fall whenever he glimpsed over at the blanket fort; the fort that used to hold Eleven.

She had a stable relationship with Nancy again and it wasn't unusual for the two girls to be doing activities together, sometimes, even with Steve—

Oh, yeah. Carla was on good terms with Steve Harrington too.

After the monster attack at the Byers', the Wheeler girl agreed to become friends again—he'd saved her life after all. And, unlike last time, they were doing great. There had been no slip-ups, and honestly, Carla was really enjoying his company.

Sure, there was still something there.....but, Steve had Nancy. The two of them were still going strong, and as Carla vowed in '83, she was not coming in between the couple—especially when the eyes of a certain newcomer to Hawkins were pinned on her, showing that maybe Steve wasn't the only option.

In simple words, Carla was finally feeling normal and everything was great.

Until, it wasn't.

As the year anniversary of Will's disappearance rolls around, another mysterious aura looms over the town. Carla's nightmares return, Will starts acting different and Dustin finds an unknown creature hiding within his trash can.

And, just like last year, Carla Wheeler finds herself back where she started; fighting monsters with two teens, two adults, five tweens—with a few new additions—and a boy.

A boy who she soon realizes is the right one for her.

welcome to the vanished re-write.

while the writing/grammar are better, and i can read the og without cringing over my younger self, this fic—more so the earlier chapters, because there are some significant gaps between chapters that my writing changed in—is also in need of a re-write!

in the og, i lost motivation a lot. as stated before, this caused the earlier chapters to look more sloppy to me than the later ones. like chapter one compared to chapter 18 just isn't the same vibe to me.....idk

anyway, i am really excited to re-write s2 starla. this season is so fun to write, and finally has carla and steve together which just makes it all the better. despite all the motivation losses i had when originally writing this, vanished was a really fun era and im excited to re-write it.

similar to missing, none of the major plot lines will be changed! this re-write is more of just my way of checking the grammar, changing the writing and maybe making small edits to convos/scenes.

i hope fans of missing/vanished enjoy the re-write! i hope it's fun traveling back to '84 to see starla get together and enter their little honey moon era.
