~ hours before ~

Yeonjun stood before his open apartment door.

Just as he suspected, the sounds coming from the back room were flowing out—the nightmare of a situation he had hoped wasn't true unfolding before him.

He knew she was cheating on him.

He had known from the moment he last saw her.

Her awkward frame and dense eyes seemed like they were hiding something from him.

"Maybe she's just nervous about something else." He tried reassuring himself.

Then he started connecting the dots, from her tardiness to the date, to the weird communication the past few days.

Then one of his friends told him they had seen her with someone else at a restaurant whilst they were on a date.

That was enough speculation he needed.

The jigsaw puzzle seemed to be coming down to its last pieces.

Now the undergarments on the floor of his living room seemed to finish it.

He quietly closed the door, locking it behind him, eyes watering at the sight he'd just witnessed.

He went to his car, threw on the hoodie that was inside, and locked it behind him too.

He wanted a walk.

He couldn't drive with watery eyes anyways.

Plus, the sunset looked too nice on a day that held so much pain.

Oh, the irony.

He walked towards the center of the city where he knew the life of the people and the bright lights could shelter him from the emptiness he was feeling and the dark that was to soon take over the sky.

He just wanted to get lost.

Lost in someone else maybe.

Lost in something other than his emotions.

So he walked.

A few minutes turned into an hour, and soon he turned a corner and saw a woman in front of him slow her pace.

He's trying to walk, and his legs are obviously longer, so naturally he wanted to pass her up.

Then, just as fate would have it, he saw her drop her wallet.

So he picked it up, ready to give it back to her.

Just as he's about to disturb her walk, she lets go of a photo, and continues walking.

"What's with this lady, she keeps dropping things." He says under his breath as he picks that up too.

It was a photo of what he guessed was her and a man, though he couldn't tell what he looked like because his face had been crossed out.

It was pretty contradictory to the loving pose they were in, the male figure back-hugging the girl he presumed was right in front of him.

Yeonjun looked back up at the figure walking a few feet away from him.

It all made sense now.

He knew her trudging around had given off a sense of pain.

Nowhere to go, no destination in sight.

It felt familiar.

After going over what he was going to say over and over in his head for quite some time, he decided to just give her back her wallet and maybe introduce himself.

He'd be lying if he said he didn't snoop around first.

He stumbled along after her as his attention fell into the wallet in his hands.

He just wanted to know her name.

Catching sight of a lone dollar made him chuckle.

Once again, the irony.

Without really thinking it through, he closed the wallet and spoke up as he neared her figure, "Excuse me, miss, you dropped this."
