chapter twenty-four || 🎬🤍🦢

Christmas had come and gone faster than Amelie had originally anticipated. After her dramatic departure from the kitchen a few nights ago, everything seemed to be going okay.

The four had made a somewhat traditional Christmas dinner and bitched about it, never comparing to a sunday roast back home. They had passed around presents and then both Carmen and Amelie had to let them know that most of them were in the post and would get there by the time they went home.

Now Amelie and Carmen lay side by side on the couch. Amelie had her head on Carmens shoulder as they both watched Carmen's phone. Amelie's was somewhere in the kitchen and she couldn't be bothered to grab it.

Her parents were in Carmens room where they had been staying the last few days. Amelie had texted her two other friends and asked if they could stay in their room, but Carmen had insisted saying that she loved Amelie bed way more and it was so much more comfortable - Lies, Carmen was just a cuddler and could never pass up an opportunity to be a little spoon.

It was Eleven in the morning and Amelie honestly didn't know why she was awake. She had woken up an hour ago and practically crawled out to the couch.

Colby had texted her this morning telling her they were on their way back home and that they would head up to her house at Twelve-ish. Why they were so productive was beyond Amelie's comprehension, but she never really questioned it. In the four months she had known them, she had only seen them have three lazy days and even at that, they still weren't exactly lazy.

An hour later, Amelie was sitting at the kitchen table. Her laptop was sitting in front of her as she attempted to edit a video and promised her viewers she would get out in the next few days. Carmen was still on the chair, this time dressed.

A knock on the front door seemed to make the whole house wake up from their daze. Amelie jumped up and raced for the door, ignoring her mother's knowing glance as she ran past her.

She opened the door and was shocked when she saw a very tired Colby on the other side. He smiled at her like he always did, which made all worry about his appearance go away.

He immediately pulled her in for a hug which she quickly gave back. She rubbed small circles on his back, "I haven't seen you in, like, a month, bro. Where were you?"

"I don't even know." He laughed, making Amelie shake her head.

"Well, Carmen is in the sitting room - There's also a fuck ton of sweets and shit because my dad couldn't control himself in target."

Colby's eyes lit up, "I will be raiding it all."

"Wouldn't put it past you," She chuckled a he walked down the hall, "Hey, Colby?!" She called down the hall as he rounded the corner. He stuck his head around the doorway, "Where's Sam?"

An evil smirk made its way onto his face, "Wouldn't you like to know."

Her smile dropped immediately as she slammed the door, completely forgetting all about Sam and running back down the hall at her friend.

Once she grabbed the back of his hood she brought him down to her level, his back now pressed against her chest. She covered his mouth, "I told you what I told you in confidence and If you use that against me... trust me I will hack into your phone and tell everyone you like to be called 'Daddy'" She felt his mouth move against her palm, she almost gagged, "True or not. I don't give a fuck! I'll do worse. If anyone finds out I will skin you." She then pressed a kiss to his cheek and smiled, "Love ya!"

She let go of him and watched as he tried to keep his composer, but once their eyes met they both couldn't help but burst into a fit of laughter.

They both walked into the living room area where Carmen was looking at them sceptically. She then put her hand up, waiting for Colby to give her a high five.

"I thought you said your parents were home." He said dropping down to sit beside Carmen.

Amelie shrugged, "They are. I literally only saw my mum like ten seconds ago."

"My mum." Colby mocked her accent, "Why had your accent gotten, like, stronger."

She ignored him, "Where's Sam? Like why are you here," She joked, glaring at him.

"Oh?" He gasped as she sat on the arm of the chair beside him, "You don't want me here? You only want Sam." He sang, looking at Carmen as they wore matching smiles.

"Don't make me do it."

"Do what?" Carmen asked.

"Tell the whole world Colby wants to be called daddy." A gag was heard behind the three and they all turned around to see Sam.

"At least you don't live with him." Sam added into it, his disgusted face going away the moment Amelie jumped up to hug him, "I had to buy noise cancelling headphones just to sleep." He said as Amelie's arms wrapped around his shoulders.

She pulled away after a second and punches his shoulder, "Where the hell were you?!"

"I couldn't find parking and Colby was too impatient to wait." He explained, his hands on both her upper arms, "I also have a lot to tell you."

Her eyes narrowed for a moment, but she couldn't hide the smile on her lips, "You can tell me later." She whispered and he nodded, "Now back to you, you little bitch." She turned back around to look at Colby, "I've texted you several times this week and you left me on delivered like I was one of your bitches. Like what? Do I look like a fan!"

"Amelie! Are you going to introduce us to your friends?" Her dad asked.

"Of course." She had to try not to laugh as Colby jumped up and Sam stood up straighter, "These are my friends Sam and Colby... And of course you know Carmen."

"Hi, second Mother and father."

Amelie rolled her eyes, "Guys these are my parents, uh, Bethany and Hayden."

Both boys put their hands out for a handshake, which Hayden gladly took, congratulating both of them on their "strong grip" and it took everything out of Carmen and Amelie not to laugh, but Bethany pushed their hands away and pulled them both into a hug.

Bethany turned to Amelie a moment later, "They're cute." She whispered, but everyone could hear her.

Amelie flushed red, "They're alright."

"If I was a couple years younger and not happily married-" She was cut off by Amelie grabbing her shoulders and pushing her out of the room.

"Okay! We'll be back in one moment." She smiled while walking into the kitchen, "Mum..."

"I was kidding, obviously." Bethany laughed, "Why are you so stressed? They look like cool kids."

"They're twenty fi-"

"They're kids to me. Same way you're a kid to me." Amelie rolled her eyes, "I'm gonna make lunch, you stop being stressed and go out there."

"I am not stressed-"

"Out of my kitchen!"

"This is my house!"

Bethany cocked an eyebrow, "And who paid for it."

Amelie's mouth immediately shut, "I love you." She smiled sweetly.

"I love you, too." The woman pressed a kiss to her daughter's head before pushing her out of the room.

Amelie rolled her eyes and walked back into the living room. She smiled when she saw a spot on the sofa next to Sam. She walked over and plopped herself down on it. Her dad stood over Colby talking about God knows what, but the look on her friend's face said he didn't mind, and for some reason that made her heart grow.

"How did I do?" Sam whispered, looking down at the girl who had sunk into his side.

Amelie smiled up at him, "My mum likes you guys and dad... We can both see he's taken a liking to Colbs."

Sam was silent for a moment before laughing quietly, "Good impression."

"Good impression." She confirmed, "What did you want to tell me?"

"It can wait." He mumbled, "But If I don't ask now I'll forget. Colby and I are throwing a new year's party with all our friends and I want you to come."

"You want me to come?" She asked, her voice so quiet he barely caught it.

"Of course I want you to come."

"Then I'll be there. And Carmen, obviously."

"Obviously. Never one without the other."

"Never."
