TODAY WAS the group's traditional Secret Santa gift exchange. The girls were set to spend the night at the guys' house, marking the final festive event before their winter break, just a week away. The guys, on the other hand, were gearing up for their last game of the year against Minnesota tonight.

Amid the holiday buzz, the girls were packing in the dorm, preparing to drive to the game afterward. The gifts, carefully selected a week ago during a mall outing, were ready to be exchanged this evening.

Sophia faced an unexpected challenge in finding a gift for Mackie, someone she found a bit irritating. However, inspiration struck when she passed a store, and she acquired a present she believed Mackie couldn't help but appreciate. Despite their differences, Sophia did pay attention to Mackie.

Meanwhile, Ethan grappled with the awkwardness of giving lingerie to his girlfriend. Unsure of how to approach the situation, he wondered if he should simply hand her the bag or explain its contents beforehand. Lillian hadn't precisely covered him on this aspect.

As Sophia packed her bag, she discreetly stowed away Mackie's wrapped gift. Lillian, curious, approached her. "Are you finally going to tell us what you got him?" she asked. Sophia grinned. "Nope. It's a surprise for all of you. I want everyone's reactions at once."

"Did you actually find something, or did you just go to Build-A-Bear and say, 'Fuck it, he's getting a stuffed animal?'" Jasmyne asked. Sophia turned towards her. "No, I seriously got him something decent. He won't be able to hate this gift. There's no way."

Curious, Sophia turned to Lillian. "What about you? What'd you get my brother?" she asked. "A pair of shoes. But it doesn't even matter because he's gonna find a way to hate it to spite me." Lillian sighed.

"I got Rutger." Jasmine shrugged. Sophia raised an eyebrow. "That's so easy," she said. "What'd you get him?" Lillian asked. Jasmyne chuckled. "It's actually pretty funny. I got him a Nerf gun. He was having so much fun with Sophia's bow and arrows at Halloween that I figured I'd give him his own toy." she replied.

"That's actually a really good gift, considering Rutger is an actual three-year-old," Sophia remarked. "I wonder if he fell down the stairs too much as a child," Lillian added making the girls laugh.

Sophia zipped up her bag, glancing at her phone. "We should probably get going," she suggested, checking the time. The girls agreed, grabbing their bags. "Hey, did the guys get snacks?" Jasmyne asked, walking out of the room with the girls. "Yes, they did surprisingly. I sent Ethan and Mark the list of everything we wanted, and they both went out and bought it." Sophia reassured her.

"Speaking of Mark and Ethan, you do realize that your deadline's cutting it close." Lillian reminded Sophia. "Huh?" Sophia asked, confused. "New Year's? You're telling Mark about you two. That's in like three weeks." Lillian clarified.

Sophia was hit with the sudden realization that in less than a month, she would be revealing her secret relationship with her brother's best friend. The reality of facing Mark was approaching closer than she had anticipated.

"Hey, it'll be okay," Jasmyne reassured, offering comfort. "Yeah, you'll tell him, he'll likely be upset, but he'll come around and realize he's acting like a little baby." Lillian chimed in. "And if it's February and he's still clueless, Lillian and I will knock some sense into him," Jasmyne said.

"I've waited 15 years to knock some sense into him," Lillian sighed. Sophia smiled. "Thanks, guys, but I'm sure Mark won't make a big deal out of it, especially if he finds out from us. It'd be worse if he caught us," she said. "Yeah, that'd be a thousand times worse." Jasmyne agreed.

Lillian threw her arm around Sophia's shoulder. "We got you, girl. It's time for Mark Estapa's reign of terror to end and for you to finally be publicly happy with your boyfriend."

Sophia smiled and nodded, realizing that the girls were right. Mark's control was over; they were adults in college now. It was time for him to see that Ethan was not like Cole. Regardless of Mark's acceptance, Sophia had already fallen too deep in love with Ethan for her brother's opinion to matter at this point. Love had taken its course, and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

WITH THE guys winning their final game of the year, the group headed back to the house, anticipating the joy of exchanging gifts. Currently, in a state of relaxation, they decided to wait a bit before opening their presents.

In the kitchen, Sophia joined the girls in the delightful task of baking her signature cookies, a treat she had perfected over the Thanksgiving break. The guys were eager to taste these cookies so Sophia had entrusted Ethan to gather the necessary ingredients.

As the guys enjoyed a Christmas movie to get themselves in the festive spirit, Sophia carefully slid the cookies into the oven. "Okay, now we just wait 30 minutes," she declared.

Lillian held up the spoon. "Who wants to lick the spoon?" she playfully asked. Almost half of the guys enthusiastically raised their hands. "Hmm," Lillian pondered, "let's settle this with a fight to the death, shall we?" Sophia rolled her eyes and took the spoon. "Luke's hand was up first," she said then handed the spoon to Luke.

"Can we open presents while we wait for your cookies?" Dylan asked. "Yeah, I've waited all this time, and the presents are right there," Rutger said pointing to the small Christmas tree adorned with presents.

"Can't you wait thirty more minutes?" Mark asked. "The suspense is killing me, man," Rutger replied. "Yeah, sure. Let's start," Sophia chuckled as she settled down next to Ethan.

"Okay, so I'm going to explain how this is going to go since Jasmyne, Rutger, and Luca are new. Basically, we give the gifts out, but nobody knows who it's from. Everyone wrote a note inside the present, though, so that note should tell you who it's from. Who wants to start?" Mark explained.

"Me! I wanna start," Rutger exclaimed, reaching for his gift under the tree. The present, wrapped in a box, had a note on top of the card. Rutger moved the card aside and eagerly opened the gift. To his surprise, he found a cardboard box. Quickly grabbing a pair of scissors, he cut open the box, revealing a toy Nerf gun. His eyes widened, accompanied by groans from his friends.

"Okay, who is responsible for this?" Mackie asked. Rutger grabbed the note card and began to read it. When he was done, he looked up at Jasmyne. "Jasmyne?" he asked. Jasmyne shrugged, saying, "You had so much fun with Sophia's arrows on Halloween, I figured I'd buy you your own." Rutger grinned and opened his new toy. "Hey, no shooting until after everyone is done," Mark warned. "Ugh, fine. I'll just open it," Rutger said. "Who's next?" Luca asked.

"I'll go," Mackie declared, making Sophia's eyes widen as he rose to grab his gift. A tiny gift bag with tissue paper peeking out awaited him. Sophia sat up, hoping he would appreciate the thoughtful effort she had put into the present. Despite their usual banter, she cared for Mackie like a brother and wanted him to enjoy the gift.

All eyes were on Mackie as he pulled out two paper strips from the bag, gradually realizing the exact nature of the gift. "No, fucking way," he mumbled.

"What? What are they?" Lillian asked, curious. "They're Tigers tickets," Mackie revealed. "Bro, no way," Dylan exclaimed. "Who got you Tigers tickets?" Luca asked.

Mackie placed the tickets back into the bag and grabbed the small note, reading it aloud. "Mackie, I know we don't always get along, but that doesn't mean I still don't listen to what you say. Love, Sophia." He looked up at her with shock and surprise. Sophia shrugged, and Mackie resumed reading, "P.S. There are two tickets because I figured you and Kayla finally deserve that first date. So take her because she deserves it."

After finishing the note, Mackie looked up at Sophia. "You got me Tigers tickets?" he asked. Sophia nodded. "I remember you telling us how you liked going to baseball games as a kid, so I figured, why not buy you Tigers tickets? Plus, you can take Kayla out on a date now."

"I've taken her out before," Mackie countered. "Ehh, a frat party doesn't count, dude," Ethan remarked. Mackie sighed, looked back at Sophia, and smiledโ€”a genuine, meaningful smile that reflected his gratitude.

"Thanks, Soph," Mackie said, and Sophia smiled. "Of course. Merry Christmas, Mackie," she replied. "Okay, who's next?" Lillian asked. Soon, everyone began opening their gifts. Sophia patiently waited, choosing to be last so she could relish the joy of seeing her friends receive their presents first.

Surprisingly, her brother liked the shoes that Lillian had gotten him, and Lillian was relieved she didn't have to resort to threats to make him wear them. As all the presents were unwrapped, there remained one last little package under the tree โ€“ Sophia's.

"Sophia, you're the last one. Grab your gift and open it," Jasmyne said. Lillian turned to Ethan, grinning, and he smiled back, hoping Sophia liked the necklace. The lingerie situation could be dealt with later tonight.

Sophia picked up the bag and started to open it, revealing a soft black box. As she opened it, she discovered a pink heart-shaped necklace. Holding it up, everyone's attention turned to the jewelry. Then, it struck her โ€“ the only person who hadn't received a gift from anyone was Ethan, meaning he was her secret Santa.

"You?" she asked, looking up at him. Ethan smiled. "Merry Christmas," he said. "Do you like it?" he asked. Sophia smiled, walked over to him, and said, "I love it."

Handing her the necklace, he stood up and began putting it around her neck. Sophia felt his warm hands caress her shoulder. "There," he declared. Turning around, they found themselves inches away, intensifying their gaze. With everyone aware of their relationship except their brother, everyone thought the scene was adorable, except for Mark.

Suddenly, the oven dinged, signaling that the cookies were ready. "The cookies are done," Mark announced, standing up and casually positioning himself between Sophia and Ethan, creating a subtle separation. "Uh, yeah, I'll come help," Sophia responded, following her brother to attend to the cookies. Ethan sat back down next to Lillian.

"Well, look at that. She didn't hate it," Lillian said. Ethan nodded, still lost in thought. "What?" Lillian asked. "I think I'm gonna tell her soon," he confessed. "Tell who what?" Lillian asked, causing Ethan to turn his head towards Sophia. "Oh!" Lillian exclaimed. "Are you sure?" she asked. Ethan nodded. "I feel like I'm ready, you know. I'm gonna tell her before she leaves for winter break," he stated. Lillian smiled. "I'm happy for you guys. I really am," she said. "Thanks, Lilly."

Sophia had sunk into Ethan's room later that night after everyone else had gone to bed. Currently, the two lay side by side, watching a Christmas movie playing on Sophia's laptop.

While Ethan glanced at Sophia who was invested in the film, his mind wandered to the Victoria's Secret bag tucked away in his closet. Considering Lillian, Sophia's best friend, told him it was a good gift, he reasoned there was no need for doubts.

Ethan sighed, sitting up, drawing Sophia's attention. "I have one more thing for you," he said. Sophia smiled. "You didn't have to get me anything else," she said. "I know, but I wanted to," he replied with a grin, rising to grab the bag from his closet. "Now, technically, this was Lillian's idea, so if you don't like it, blame her," he said. Sophia chuckled. "Uh, okay."

As Ethan presented the Victoria's Secret bag on the bed, Sophia eagerly reached for it. Upon opening it, her eyes widened at the sight inside. "If you don't like it, I'll take it back," Ethan nervously offered.

Sophia, examining the lingerie set, smiled and looked up at Ethan, sensing his anxiety. She calmly placed the lingerie back in the bag, stood up, and walked over to Ethan, seizing his hands. "I love it," she reassured him, planting a kiss on his lips. "I'll go try it on," she said, grabbing the bag.

Ethan's eyes widened as he chuckled, "You don't..you don't have to." he said. "Why? Don't you want to see what I look like in it?" she teased with a smirk. She headed into the bathroom, leaving Ethan biting his lip and grinning. Tonight was going to be fun.
