Chapter 10: Snapped
"Oh, K-Kokichi.. I-" He looked down expressionless and asked, "Did you.." He paused for a moment. "..With who?" He looked back up at me and waited for me to respond. I stared back not knowing what to do and- "Agh!" I covered my face from the water being splashed onto me from a car and opened up my eyes eyeing down at my clothes. Great, their all wet and ruined now.. I turned to look back at Kokichi who was.. Gone? "Where'd he go?" I muttered to myself. It was now just an empty, dark street with cars as the only company I had passing by. At least he won't ask about it anyways.. And why'd he have to act weird about it? My face grew red again, I never thought I'd be able to do that with Rantaro..

My legs were in pain as I was walking but my thoughts continued to distract me from reality, Rantaro was the only thing in my thoughts. Sooner or later I finally arrived home and as usual I collapsed onto my bed and sighed. I felt so embarrassed and—

Shit, shit, shit, MY JOB

Crap, that's right.. I quit my job, how am I supposed to pay off my bills now?! I rushed up to my drawer and took out a letter and gasped in fear from how high the money was, at least for me.. I only get paid £34K a year but my bills were way too high.

I had no choice but to grab my phone and make a call to my uncle, "Pick up, pick up, pick up.." I was led to voicemail and threw my phone onto the ground using up all my rage. "F-Fuck..!" I sat on my bed with my head laying in my hands. I felt so annoyed and angry, I desperately ignored the pain in my ass and scolded myself. Even from those deaths in the hospital, I still can't forgive myself. Before I felt the need to cry I suddenly got a call back from.. My uncle?

I rushed to pick it up and smiled to myself once I heard his voice, "Hey Shuichi.. Sorry about that, anyways why were you calling me?" He asked in a cold manner yet I couldn't care less I just needed to get my job back, "I-I'm Sorry for quitting, I swear I was just angry and all-"

"Saihara.." I heard sadness on the phone, "W-What is it?" I felt a bad feeling, a very bad feeling. "Come back to the police station please, I need to talk to you something." I smiled in glee and thanked him but even after doing so he didn't seem to happy. I quickly got changed from my clothes and called a cab seeing as my legs were in so much pain but the feeling of.. Dread erupted in me.

Stepping into the cab as I ignored that feeling, I finally arrived paying off the driver and walking into the police station. Ready to walk into my uncles office I heard a female shout out from opposite me, "There he is!" She pointed at me. Obviously feeling confused, officers ran at me as I stared at them with fear. Now here I am, I find myself in hand cuffs sitting in the questioning room. "Just great..." I muttered to myself. "For the last time Saihara, please tell me the truth. Did you have any relation to the crime?" The Unknown male asked for about how many times now..? I don't even know. I replied with the same thing, "No, I don't even know who the guy was. Or whoever died." I shook my head at him. Until my eyes widened at what words came out of his mouth, "Do you know anyone named Maki Harukawa?" I looked up at him surprised. "Y-Yes I do..!" He stared at me in disbelief and asked me any of my connections with her, I told him about the last thing she said to me before we went our separate ways. After I had told him that he written it down onto some paper.

'I'll kill you.'

"Was this just recently?" He asked me feeling even more shocked then I was, "No, this was about two years ago or something." Once again he started writing it down. A knock was heard on the door and a women with green eyes and long pink hair came in with a suit, "Sir, it's been revealed. It's Maki, not Saihara." Joy flied within me and- "Haven't you been listening to the conversation? We know it's Maki, it's just the message." The male scolded the women. "Ah, s-sorry!" The women apologised and walked out with an embarrassed look.

The man sighed and looked up at me, "Anyways, like I said.. That message written on the wall, why was it there?" I shrugged my shoulders at him giving him a pissed off look. He seemed disappointed yet instead of responding he showed me a photo.

'We're still not done with our game, Saihara.. Be careful with who you're hanging around or I'll have to come in to save you. The game is still on.'

I saw the same bloodied writing with my name plastered onto it, I definitely knew who it was but I couldn't tell them that. That's just embarrassing..

"Now here it says some sort of game, do you have any idea as to what that means?" He narrowed his eyes at me as soon as I hesitantly shook my head. "Alright then, how about when you quit your job? Why did you do that?" I stared at him with a blank look quickly remembering what had happened, the explosion and that kiss. Even with the death on my shoulders I still manage to get flustered from that kiss, how stupid of me.

"I.. I was stressed out-" He cut me off short, "From what?" He asked sternly. "F-From.."

"From?"

"From.. The hospital." His eyes widened at me, "What?" I soon replied, "I saw the explosion, I knew I was going to have to study about the case and.. I didn't want to remember the deaths by figuring out what happened so yeah.." I quickly made up. Part of it was true but I knew if I had told him about the kiss they'd think I was partnered up with the phantom thief.

As if that would ever happen.

"Hmm, that does make sense.. However the game thing is still in question. You see Saihara, Maki Harukawa wasn't the one who had written that message." He spoke keeping an eye on my expressions. "..What?"

Suddenly the faint sound of gunshots were heard. I turned my head towards the locked door desperately hoping whoever was doing it wasn't going to come in this room, I turned to look back at the man and he too had a look of fear and confusion in his eyes as his mouth was almost wide opened.

Thanks to my handcuffs I couldn't really do much but who said I couldn't run, "Shit.." I heard him mutter to himself. He sat up from his chair and headed towards the door to see if everything was alright until the door busted itself open. The door broke down and men wearing a black suit, huge black glasses and a black hat covering their face came in. I wanted to question this I was concerned with what was happening. Unexpectedly they shot the Male who tried to step back, he fell to the ground after a piercing sound of a gunshot filled my ears and he clutched his bleeding stomach. Crimson blood came pouring out, he was now coughing up blood. As much as I felt bad for him I had to admit he was an asshole, back then he'd always try to get me fired by telling my uncle all sorts of things. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure his name was Haruko or something, no wonder he was so persistent with the questions.

I looked up from the body to see three men coming up towards me, I stood up and attempted to shield myself with my arms but these stupid cuffs are still stuck on me! I stared at them with fear in my eyes, I expected them to do something but all they did was stare. Until one of the men took out some sort of ball and-

Fuck there's smoke coming out of it.

I started coughing, the smoke intoxicating my lungs. My eyes became heavy and I my vision became blurry, I soon saw the ground coming closer and closer each second but it seems someone must've held me to avoid injury. I soon blacked out.

My senses soon came back to me and I woken up instantly with the memories flooding through my mind but soon my focus was on what was in front of me, him. He was sitting on a chair with his hand holding his cheek and arm sitting on his desk, he was wearing his usual top had and clothes including his face still being covered but something was different. He wasn't wearing the same mask, it was a different one. He wore a white hospital mask yet his eyes were now in view, they were purple. A very pretty shade of purple, they felt so deeply familiar.. Why do I feel like I've seen them somewhere. His eyes look deeply focused on me, oh crap wait. If he has me right now, does that mean he.. Won that 'game?'

The room I was in looked like an office, light bulb was the colour of his eyes. Guns and knives were stacked in the drawers. A photo of me laid on his desk being turned away from me and completely in his view. But I didn't know that. I didn't know about the guns in the drawers either...

"Your awake." I can see that.

"Want me to take off the tape?" He pointed at my mouth and I slowly nodded at him, he stood up and walked towards me. He took it off and smiled, "Your welcome." I glared at him, as if I'd thank him. "Say, Shuichi.. Your rather quiet today, aren't you? Even after we just kissed? Your so rude!" He giggled at me amusingly. My face became red but I shook it off and continued, "You got me into trouble-"

"But I stopped them from thinking you were the killer." I glared at him once again before my face turned into a look of confusion, "Stopped... Wait.. You mean it wasn't Maki?" He nodded at me with an obvious smile behind his mask. Just as I was about to scold him he stopped me. "You should be thankful, she was planning to kill you so of course I had to get rid of her." Huh?

"Moving on, I wanted to show you something special.."

Pulling out pictures I widened my eyes as I realised what they were and what he was going to use them for. "Blackmail.." He nodded his head, "Mhm! These pictures are so~ pretty! I'm keeping these to myself, unless you want to share them..?" He giggled at me. I stared at him with wide eyes, I about to start begging but stopped myself as I would realise how stupid I would seem. "N-No, wait!" He seemed to just laugh more at me, as if I was so entertaining. "Of course I'm not silly! Well, only if you do what I tell you.." His voice had gone low on the last part, his face darkened and his eyes narrowed at me. I turned to ignore his face and the pictures— Wait..

"Rantaro did those.." I thought out loud, I suddenly felt betrayal flow inside my heart. "Yeah! How'd you know?" He exclaimed yet seemed genuinely curious when he asked me on that last part. "He had se- I-I mean, n-nevermind..!"

Almost within a split second, the atmosphere changed into a dark setting, I looked up at the thief who was towering over me and noticed his facial expression changed. "That's why you.. You were walking like that." What is he talking about?

"Shuichi.. Why are you walking like that?"

I didn't know he was there when it happened?!

I focused on the thief's expressions, almost each time his face would become even more darker then before. "That's not fair.." I heard him mutter softly to himself, "I.. It was supposed to be me..." I was rather confused as to what he was talking about but continued on with listening to what he was saying, he suddenly turned to face me. His pupils small and demeanour giving off dangerous vibes.

He then said something that spooked me more then it really should've.

"Say Shuichi.. Are you experienced?"
