Author's Note

Just as a note (obviously, or else I wouldn't be writing this AN), this chapter is something that took place during the events of the previous chapter.

So. . .Enjoy! 😘

━━━━━━━━━━

Dear, sweet Arthur Darvill was just sat on the sofa in his trailer as he was reading over his 'The Big Bang' script while contemplating on what he wanted for dinner that night. Grab a quick bite to eat somewhere? Or stop by the supermarket and grab a few things to make something back at the flat? Granted, he didn't cook for himself often, but he wasn't that bad at it.

Arthur sighed, putting his thoughts of dinner aside for the moment as he turned to the next page in his script while he continued to read. However, he didn't even get halfway down the page before the door to his trailer was thrown open, letting a somewhat flustered Matt storm his way in.

"How can I do this? This is not the sort of thing that happens to me." Matt muttered as he began pacing the length of Arthur's trailer, completely not even looking at said man who was on the sofa and was now watching him with slightly widened eyes given that he had been intruded on so suddenly. "I mean, it's happened before. But this time it actually means something and we now have a better idea of why that is so. Anyway, I do have to make it actually look like it means something."

"Oh, whatever seems to be the problem, Matthew?" Arthur questioned, tilting his head slightly, letting the tiniest smirk cross his features as he looked at his friend.

"Oh, you know damn well what!" Matt snapped as he paused in his pacing, tapping his rolled up script against Arthur's head. He was even still in his Doctor attire. Well, save for the tweed jacket and bow tie. He undid the top couple of buttons of his shirt to give himself a little breathing room as he looked at Arthur. "I know you're not stupid."

"Alright... Just give me a second to get all huffy and weird like you." Arthur sighed, setting his script aside before standing from the sofa and taking a deep breath as he prepared to speak. "Can you believe you have to do what you have to do? It's like you don't even want to do it even though you've already had to do it almost half a dozen times. I mean, come on!"

"You're not very helpful." Matt deadpanned as he narrowed his eyes.

"Gotta have my fun where I can get it." Arthur shrugged, smiling a bit. "Seriously, though, for the love of God, mate, please tell me you're not feeling like this just now."

"Oh, forget it!" Matt rolled his eyes before storming back out of the trailer, shutting the door behind him and leaving his friend standing all alone once more.

Arthur blinked, then just smiled as he shook his head before turning and going to his little kitchenette.

"It's only a matter of time." Arthur spoke quietly to himself as he filled the kettle with water before putting it on to boil. "Kaz knows. Alex knows." He said as he took out a mug from the cabinet. "Hell, Steven and basically the whole crew know." He rolled his eyes, chuckling softly as he pulled a spoon out of the drawer. "I wouldn't even be surprised if Kas had an inkling... Listen to yourself, Arthur. You're talking to yourself. Well, I suppose if you don't answer yourself you'll be okay... You know what? Just shut up, Arthur."

Hearing the whistle of the kettle, Arthur paused his thoughts and swiftly turned the little stove off before taking the kettle and pouring the steaming water into his mug. He then grabbed the sugar and honey, putting a bit of both of those in before grabbing the spoon and beginning to stir all that together as he resumed his thoughts.

Seriously, Arthur really couldn't help but shake his head at the bizarre, yet not totally unexpected, conversation he had just had with Matt, said man having just stormed out of Arthur's trailer just a few minutes before. Hey, at least the man was at least being more vocal about how he was feeling. Although, he wouldn't actually say outright what he was feeling feelings about. But it didn't–

Arthur paused stirring his tea, his thoughts being interrupted by his phone alerting him of a text.

Setting the spoon he had been stirring with aside, Arthur pulled his phone from his back pocket before chuckling as he read the text he had received from Karen

They're breaking.
– Kaz

Arthur couldn't help but smile as he typed out his reply to her, pressing send and placing his phone aside before resuming preparing his cuppa tea, not entirely believing that his and Karen's matchmaking skills actually seemed to be working. Albeit at a very slow rate.

***

Hearing her phone ping, Karen looked up from her script while sitting at the table in her sister's trailer, said woman still showering and completely unaware of the... things happening at the moment.

Karen couldn't help but smile even wider as she read Arthur's reply to the text she had just sent a couple moments earlier.

More so than you think.
– Art

Karen sighed happily, leaning back in her seat as she thought about what Arthur could mean. I mean, it was pretty obvious. Karen had pretty good intuition, so it didn't take much for her to get the clue that Arthur must've talked to Matt.

"But it is sort of odd to think about." Karen thought to herself. The fact that the two people she and Arthur were rooting so hard for actually seemed to be heading in the right direction? It was amazing. Well, at least she thought so. Arthur most likely did, too.

I mean, it had been around a month and a half since Croatia. The chemistry between Katt Smillan had not died down. At all. Even during the four or so weeks they all had gone their separate ways to be with their families for the holidays. Matt going back to his parents' place in Northampton, Arthur to Birmingham, and Karen and Kassidy back to their parents in Inverness all the way up in the Scottish Highlands.

Dear Karen may or may not have caught Kassidy on Skype with Matt once or twice. And being the kind sister, Karen made sure that Kassidy didn't catch her eavesdropping on their conversations. Which, by the way, weren't anything more than checking in with each other and seeing how each other were doing. A bit boring, to be honest. However, the cheerfulness in their voices when they spoke to each other was rather sweet.

Too bad neither of them were picking up on it.

It's like the two of them had things for each other, and everyone knew it... Except them!

Resisting the urge to pull her hair out, Karen picked her script back up and tried to re-immerse herself and get back into the universe where she wasn't worrying about her sister's love life with a gangly Englishman from Northampton, and was just worrying about her fictional sister's (who just so happened to also be her real life sister) love life with a bow tie wearing Time Lord from Gallifrey. No escape in sight in either universe.
