Mal told me to start writing in a diary, so, here I am. Let's start with my parents, shall we?
Once upon a time, long, long ago... Well, 20 years ago. Belle and the Beast married in front of 6,000 of their closest, personal friends. Who knew people could have that many close friends? Instead of a honeymoon, Beast united all of the kingdoms and got himself elected King of the United States of Auradon. Obviously, I believe there were definitely better options, Cinderella, for example. He rounded up all the villains and sidekicks, basically all the really cool, interesting people, and he booted them off to the Isle of the Lost with a magical barrier to keep them there. Also known as... my home. No magic. No Wi-fi. No way out. My mother, Maleficent, managed to find a way to run the Isle. Probably because she was the most successful villain. And my dad... I think I'm better off keeping that a secret.

Isle of the Lost -
I stood by whilst the others spray painted their tag alongside buildings. "Effie, let us teach you the way of true evil. Staying in your room all day won't make Mom proud of you." Mal grabbed my hand and dragged me with her as she walked. "The citizens call us trouble, bad and evil. That makes us glad." She smiled.

"We're dirty no-goods down to the bone. We're not really the 'take us home to meet your parents' type." Jay added, sliding down a ladder.

"So we've got some mischief in our blood." Evie shrugged, observing the shops. "Can you blame us? We never got any love." A smirk grew on her face as she took an apple, walking off.

"They think we're callous... A low-life hood. We're useless? I say misunderstood." Carlos put his arm around my shoulder, nudging me slightly.

"And why do you care what they think?" I furrowed my eyebrows, causing them to stop in their tracks. "Did I say something wrong?" I asked, immediately wanting to take my words back.

"She's truly evil..." Jay whispered.

"They call us a schemer, call us a freak. But they can't say that when we're just unique." Mal grabbed a purple jacket from a clothing rack, wandering off with it. The woman at the stand cursed at her, throwing sticks and rocks.

"Someone called me a traitor and said I haven't got their back, expecting me to be their friend. What's up with that?" Jay spotted a lamp and his eyes brightened, shoving it into his jacket without anyone realising.

"I've been labelled as a misfit and a flirt... Then they get hurt when I break their heart?" Evie made eye contact with one of the sellers, blowing a small kiss and walking away. The guy stood there, stunned and in awe.

"The past is the past. You have to learn to forgive and forget. But the truth is, they haven't seen nothing yet." Carlos handed me an apple as him and Jay swung around a loose pipe.

"I really do not understand what you're trying to teach me. You've contradicted everything you've said." I rolled my eyes and went to wander off when Mal grabbed my arm.

"Obviously we can't teach you properly. We've been shoved on an island with no powers... We'll get off here soon.. and when we do.. We will reign havoc over all of Auradon." She stole a lollipop from a baby passing by, the anger radiating off her. The three's eyes suddenly widened but Mal and I just looked at each other and sighed. We turned around to see Maleficent, our mother, standing there with her two bodyguards. "Hi, mom." Mal smiled.

"Stealing candy, Mal? I'm so disappointed." Mom rolled her eyes, jokingly, ignoring my stare.

"It was from a baby." She held out the lollipop with a grin on her face. Mom smiled and threw her staff to the other hand, taking the lollipop.

"That's my nasty little girl." She grinned and then spat on it, cleaning it, then handing it to her bodyguard. "Give it back to the dreadful creature. It's the deets, Mal, that make the difference between mean and truly evil. When I was your age I was cursing entire kingdoms. Walk with me, both of you." I nodded and walked beside her. "See, I'm just trying to teach you the thing that really counts, how to be me."

"I know that. And I'll do better." Mal nodded. She always had to be the daughter Mom was most proud of.

"What if I don't want to be you and want to be myself instead?" I asked. Mom looked at me with an angry yet impressed expression.

"Then be yourself, but be evil..." She looked at me with a nod. "Oh! There's news. I buried the lead." She laughed and walked back to her bodyguard. I turned and looked at the others, confused.

"You five have been chosen to go to a different school... In Auradon." Mom's smile was wider than usual. She had a plan. The others gasped and trued to escape but they were held back by the bodyguards.

"What?! I'm not going to some boarding school fillied to the brim with prissy pink princesses." Mal rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, the refusal spreading across her face.

"Yeah and I don't do uniforms... Unless it's leather, you feel me?" Jay laughed and held his hand up for a high five but Carlos ignored him and stepped forward.

"I read somewhere that they allow dogs in Auradon. Mom said they're rabid pack animals who eat boys who don't behave." His eyes widened and his voice trailed off. Jay barked at him, causing him to jump and hit him on the arm.

"Yeah, Mom. We're not going." Mal raised her voice, shaking her head.

"I'll go. I can see you have a plan." I smiled and Mom look impressed once again.

"You're thinking bit, pumpkin, I like it. It's about world domination. Knuckleheads!" She walked off, leaving the rest of us there. We all looked at each other, not sure what to say.

"I need to go meet someone..." I waved and walked off, hoping to not be suspicious.

-

I walked into the 'Fish and Chips Shoppe', the people I were expecting to be here were sat by the counter, messing around. They turned around and their eyes widened when they noticed me. "The mighty Effie has decided to return to the shop during the day... How may we help?" Uma smiled as she walked up and gave me a hug. We walked back to the counter and sat down.

"I have some news... But you won't like it." I told them. They looked at one another with curious eyes and then back at me. "Mal's friends and I have been chosen to go to a school in Auradon." I muttered.

"What? You can't go. You can say you don't want to go, right?" Harry's accent struck through me. Somehow his words always hurt more than any others.

"Of course she can. You know she's always made her own decisions." Uma scowled at him. She looked at me with a look saying 'right?' but I avoided her stare.

"I have to go." I built up the courage and said it. They immediately started asking questions and muttering that I shouldn't. "Guys! This is our one chance to finally get off the Isle and take over... I can't promise I'll keep in contact whilst I'm in Auradon but I can promise we will see each other again." I smiled and the others nodded.

"You better keep that promise, Ef. You know I hate it when people break them." She pulled me into a hug and I nodded. "This is a goodbye, right?"

"I believe so. Mom didn't tell me when we were leaving but it's most likely today." I sighed as Gil walked around the counter, also pulling me into a hug.

"We will all miss you. But can you bring back some berries... crowns, expensive clothing and just Auradon stuff?" He smiled and stepped back.

"Why would I need to bring it back when you can get it yourself?" I laughed and looked at Harry who was staring down at his drink. Gil and Uma nodded at me and walked away. They didn't see the chemistry between Harry and I but they knew we had a closer bond. I didn't even know we had chemistry until a few minutes later. "Harry..." I sat next to him and smiled warmly. "I won't be gone for long." I placed my hand on his and he looked at me with worry in his eyes.

"What if your plan goes wrong and you never come back? You'll be leaving me- us behind. Ef... You can't do this." He squeezed onto my hand and turned his body to face me.

"The only people who could ruin my mom's plan is if the other four going decide they want a shot at a new life." I laughed and rolled my eyes, knowing they would never change their mind. I looked at the time and sighed. "I should get going. My mom will go mad if I don't get home soon." I stood up and waved, walking out.

Honestly, that was the one of the hardest things to do and I had to do it without cracking any sort of emotion. I turned the corner and felt a hand grab my arm. I turned around to see it was Harry. "Oh, Harry... What's up?" I asked, acting like I didn't just say goodbye to him.

"If this ruins our friendship, I'll kick myself for it but at least I'll know that if you don't come back that it was my fault. But then again... If it ruins our friendship for the better... It may hurt a bit more." He shook his head and laughed.

"What is it? Just tell me." I smiled at him, joining in on the laugh. He placed a hand on my cheek and his smile started dropping, but he tried keeping it. "Harry..?" I whispered. There was a sudden spark I could feel between us and I could feel my face tinting red. With his other hand, he grabbed mine and leant down, placing a soft kiss on my lips. He eventually pulled away.

"Shit.. Well, there it is." He scratched the back of his neck and turned around, walking off.

"Harry!" I shouted, causing him to stop in his tracks. He turned around to face me, his face red from embarrassment and nervousness. "I feel the same." I smiled and turned around, walking home.

"You will go. You will find the Fairy Godmother and you will bring me back her magic wand. Easy-peasy." Mom said, filing her nails. The five of us stood before her, eyebrows furrowed with confusion and hesitation.

"What's in it for us?" Mal asked.

"Matching thrones. Hers-and-hers crowns." Mom replied, a large smile on her face.

"I think she meant us." Carlos laughed awkwardly. Mal nodded and pointed at the five of us. Mom stood up, dropping her nail file. She motioned for Mal and I to step forward, and so we did.

"It's all about us three, baby! Do you enjoy watching innocent people suffer?" Mom's smile turned into an evil grin.

"How would we know? We've been trapped on the Isle full of villains and their sidekicks." I replied. She rolled her eyes.

"If you want to know, get me the wand and you and I can see all that and so much more. And with that wand and my staff, I will be able to bend both good and evil to my will!" She raised her arms as if she was sucking up all the power.

"Our will!" The Evil Queen corrected her. Cruella and Jafar nodded, also expecting to get something out of this.

"Our will, our will... And if you refuse, you're grounded for the rest of your life, missy. I already know Effie is going to agree." The two started to have, what I like to call, a stare off with a twist. Whoever could stare at each other with their power the longest wins. I could never partake in this due to having red eyes when using my power. I know you're probably thinking, 'oh but you can't use your power!' but this is different. It's just our eyes. Obviously Mom won. Mal hasn't managed to control her powers yet. The other parents started making excuses for their children not going.

"And I, Maleficent!" I was suddenly snapped back into focus by my mom's scream. "The evilest of them all. I will finally have my revenge on Sleeping Beauty and her relentless little prince... Villains! Our day has come. EQ, give her the magic mirror." She got off the Evil Queens lap.

"This is your magic mirror?" Evie asked, surprised at the small size, but she still admired herself in it.

"Yeah, well, it ain't what it used to be, but then again, neither are we!" EQ and mom started laughing. "It will help you find things."

"Like the magic wand." Mom smiled. "My spell book. My book. I need my... That book. Oh. Ah! The safe. The safe." She turned around and opened the freezer, taking out her spell book. "There she is. It doesn't work here, but it will in Auradon. Remember, when we were spreading evil and ruining lives." She looked over at the Evil Queen with a precious look on her face.

"Like it was yesterday..." She stood up from her chair and let out a happy sigh.

"And now, you will be making your own memories... By doing exactly as I tell you. Effie, dear, this book is going to Mal. You will have no need for it." Mom gave the book to Mal and smiled at me. I nodded, feeling like the inferior child once again. But yet... She may have a point. We heard the honking and grabbed our bags. The others had a talk with their parents and then left through the door.

Mom took us out to the balcony. "The future of the free world rests on your shoulders. Don't blow it." Mal nodded and walked inside. "This isn't directed at you Effie. I've always had a feeling that you're truly evil but Mal is different. She's easily persuaded."

"You think so? I mean, I guess you're right. She always contradicts her words." I laughed and we both walked inside.

-

We stood next to the limo and I caught sight of Harry behind the crowd. I made my way through and smiled at him. "Well... This is a goodbye." I sighed, a pain striking through my heart. "But the plan seems trustworthy enough." I grabbed his hands and held them tight.

"I sure hope so. This is like every story I've been told... Two people find out they like each other snd they're quickly pulled apart." He laughed and caught contact with my eyes.

"I'll miss you, Harry. I'd promise to keep in touch but sadly, you have no Wi-Fi." I rolled my eyes at the Isle of the Lost rules. He placed his fingers on my chin and planted one last kiss on my lips. "We'll keep this on the down low... Just until I come back. Promise?" I held my pinky up and he nodded, locking our pinkies and kissing his thumb, I did the same.

"Break that and I'm out for you, Ef." He smiled and waved as I walked back to the limo.

I placed my bags in the back and got in, just in time for Mal to come out. I looked around at all the food that was laid out. Jay and Carlos immediately started fighting for it, getting me caught in the middle.
