Tropes (or situations in fiction) that I really like.
(At least, in general. Of course, it depends how good the writing is.)
~ Found family <3 (but they're not, like, mushy gushy besties all the time)
~ Villain who's only a villain because they didn't know any better (or has ties to the real villain)
~ Opposites attract type ships/friendships
~ "I know they're an idiot but they're my idiot" type ships
~ Any character who talks too much (but also has important things to say sometimes—just buried beneath all their other rambling)
~ Characters who are basically part of an in-world fandom
~ Morally-grey characters—they might know they need to be a better person, but struggle to do so. Or they might be doing "good" things with bad intentions.
~ Enemies to friends to lovers (note the friends in the middle)
~ Grumpy x sunshine- (see: opposites attract)
~ Parents/siblings who realize they weren't being good parents/siblings and try to do something about it
~ When a character is poc, lgbtq, has a disability, etc., but it's just a mild trait. The story isn't about them being ✨different✨ (though of course those can be good too—I just really want minorities to be normalized more)
(Also angst. And slow burn. And a bunch of others I probably forgot.)
What are some y'all like? ——>
