Michelle looked at the ground tears streaming down her face. As sirens wail "They're looking at us." Grover said to an the two girls but Michelle wasn't paying attention but what did catch her eye were these three ladies who were looking at her cutting a piece of yarn

Michelle knew what this meant. She couldn't let it happen. "So we should probably get outta here, don't you think? Dude they're looking right at us" Michelle finally payed attention "what?." Michelle asked in confusion

"Come on let's go find Percy." Michelle said "Michelle.." Grover and annabeth said at the same time "he's alive. I know it" Michelle walks off them soon following

They scream Percy's name "Percy- Percy!." Michelle yelled in hopes in the blonde boy being alive. Michelle heart skipped a beat as she Percy get out the water. He waved at the girl "hey I'm sorry for push-" Percy tried to say but got cut off by Michelle hugging him tightly. She felt tears spill out of her eyes. "Why'd you do it!. You could have died what's wrong with you.!?" Michelle yelled hitting the boy in the chest as she wiped her tears away but quickly hugged him again

"So. You're not as dead as we thought you'd be." Grover said as Michelle pulled away before Percy and her made eye contact "surprise." Percy said "what happened?." Annabeth said

"Short version, we need to go to Santa Monica." Percy said "what like- now?." Grover asked "My father's gonna meet me there. He's gonna help us." Percy said "Okay. Uh, just one problem with this plan. The police think that we crashed an Amtrak train and then did that." Grover pointed at the arch

"Th- the cops are after us?" Percy asked earning a nod from Michelle "Isn't that gonna make it hard for us to get on a train? Or a bus? Or really anything you need tickets for?." Percy asked

The bird caws as the group walks down a road "Hey, guys. I think this question might be harder than we thought. I been thinking. I didn't steal the master bolt. You guys didn't steal the master bolt. We're pretty sure hades has the master bolt, but he couldn't have stolen it himself.. I mean, we don't even know who actually stole the thing, or why, or how deep this goes." Percy stating as Michelle zoned out not paying attention..

"I'm the last person to realize this, aren't I?" Percy asked earning a "yeah" from annabeth before he started talking again "okay, so... Maybe when we started, my head wasn't fully in this, but since the river.. it all feels different somehow. He saved me. My dad. I guess I just really never thought that's something he'd do for me. So maybe I gotta take things more seriously now." Percy said

A motorcycle was heard that's when Michelle finally started paying attention "car." Grover said "That's not a car, it's a bike. Just let it pass. Come on." Annabeth said going behind the stone wall

Michelle pulled her knees to her chest hugging them as she sat at the end by annabeth "I'm saying, we're not just trying to retrieve a thing. I think we might need to be detectives here, too." Percy said looked at Michelle "yeah." She said staring down at the rocks

"Why are you being weird with me again? I thought we weren't doing that anymore." Percy confronted Michelle "I'm not being weird.." Michelle said looking at Percy "yes, you are. You've been weird since we left the arch. Oh. I get it it doesn't have to be a thing, you know. That you hugged me.." Percy said Michelle sighed "I mean, we're like friends now. That seems like a thing friends do. At least I think they do." Percy said

Michelle's gut twisted as she heard the word "friends" she wanted to be more than friends. "I saw the fates. Back at the arch, I saw the three fates, and i saw Atropos cut a piece of thread." Michelle said looking at Percy as annabeth looked at Michelle in shock "Michelle why didn't-" annabeth got cut off "and that's bad or..?" Percy asked

"The fates weave the life strand of every living thing. When you see a string cut-" Grover started "it means one of us is going to die." Michelle said as her voice clear

"We're all going to die eventually. Soon" Percy said "it's a warning. An omen" annabeth corrected him

A motorcycle engine stops right where we're sitting "Need some help?." Someone said Michelle and the group peaked over the stone she immediately realized it was her mom's boyfriend. "Beg pardon" Grover asked before Michelle rolled her eyes

"I asked if you could use some help." Ares said "Nope. No. We're- we're good. Appreciate you asking , though. So long." Grover stuttered out before the group sat down

Ares inhaled deeply "you don't seem too good" Michelle peaked "We don't want anything from you." She said bluntly "You sure? Because you guys are so behind schedule." Ares said before the group finally stood up

"I mean, summer solstice is just a few days away. And as much I'd love to see a good war pop off, as your big cousin and your mom's boyfriend, I feel like, maybe, I wanna give you a hand. "Cousin?." Percy questioned "ares." Annabeth said as Michelle rolled her eyes at ares "you must be Athena's kids always gotta be the wisest one in the bunch." "Why would you help us. How do you even know about what we're doing out here.?" Michelle asked

"Because I'm doing exactly the same thing as you. Zeus sent all his kids out looking for the master bolt, too. Listen, dummies. I'm hungry. There's a halfway decent dinner up the road. If you want my help, you'll meet me there. But don't dawdle. Wont wait forever" ares said as he drives off

"Ugh- I can't believe my mom dates him-" Michelle said walking towards the diner "That's my cousin?what kind of family is this?." Percy asked before he saw Michelle walking away
