chapter five . movie night

"Movie time, bitches !" Darnell called , running through the house . He drummed his hands on each of the doors until people began coming out .

"Right when I was starting to get comfortable ." Zinnia groaned. She was wearing her boyfriend's hoodie and a pair of Christmas pjs.

Maisie followed after her, she wasn't wearing a hoodie but she was wearing a cropped black shirt to go with her own Christmas pants . It was clear the two friends bought them together due to how they were literally the same .

"Tis the season ." Darnell teased the two , only to have to duck away from Zinnia's hand . She scoffed and stormed past him.

"I'm so tired ." Maisie whined, sitting down onto the couch. Zinnia sat down on the floor in front of her.

"Same." Zinnia leaned against the couch , closing her eyes .

"I got the popcorn !" Wade yelled . He pushed Hunter out of the way to be the first into the kitchen , grabbing the box of popcorn quickly .

"Everyone's so immature ." Victor told the two girls while he sat down next to Maisie . "Where's Oliver ?"

"I thought you shared a room with him ?" She asked with a frown . "Call him ?"

"Good idea ." He pulled out his phone and called Oliver , standing up when he answered . He walked outside to talk to him before he walked back inside . "He's getting drinks from the store with Adonis ." With a smirk on his face he added , "I wonder what they're talking about ."

Maisie stared at him with her eyebrows furrowed . "What do you mean ? They're probably talking like normal people ?"

Victor laughed slightly at her confusion . "Maisie , when are you gonna notice ?" He asked her .

"Notice what ?" She crossed her arms , looking at him with confusion .

"I'll let you figure it out yourself ."

"So , I think it's time for a chat ." Oliver drummed his fingers against the steering wheel , looking up at the red light .

"Chat about what ?" Adonis asked , nervously playing with his hands . He glanced over at Oliver to try and read the look on his face .

"My sister ." He replied shortly , trying to maintain a poker face . Oliver wasn't dumb , he notices when people make advances toward his sister , even when she can't notice .

Adonis paled . "Oh - um . Why her ?"

He looked over at him . "How stupid do you think I am ? I see you hitting on her ." Oliver stepped on the gas , taking a left towards the parking lot of the grocery store while he waited for Adonis to talk .

"Hitting on her ? That's a bit -"

"A bit honest . I see how you act around her ." Oliver interrupted him . "So just be blunt with me . Are you into her or not ?" He asked while he parked the car , turning to look at Adonis after he did .

Adonis couldn't meet Oliver's eyes , he stared down at his hands and nodded his head . "Yeah . I've been into her for awhile , but it's been picking up more since I literally see her every day ."

Oliver stared at Adonis until he finally looked up . "Just be careful with her . She doesn't pick up on flirting that easily ." He told Adonis firmly .

"Of course . I won't do anything to her , I promise ." He quickly nodded his head .

"Good ." Oliver smiled . He opened the door , "Let's go shopping then ."

The group of friends were settled in the living room when the door busted open . "We got the booze !" Oliver called , holding a bag of alcohol in his hand .

"Yes !" Wade pumped his fist in the air , he jumped out of his spot next to Victor on the couch and snatched the bag from the curly haired boy's hands and looked through it . "Sweet ! Y'all got the good stuff ."

"Don't get yourself carried away ." Elizabeth teased him , for once in a lifetime she was in too good of a mood to get into a fight with Wade .

"I won't." He smiled , pulling out the bottles from the bag .

It took about fifteen minutes for the group to make some popcorn and get the drinks that they wanted before they all settled into their spots in the room .

They managed to all fit on the couch , which was one of those L shaped couches . Adonis was the last to join the group and he sat in between Maisie and Wade , handing her a drink as he did so .

"Mark my words , Maisie Swift . You're only allowed to drink while I supervise ." Oliver pointed his finger at his sister . She sarcastically saluted him and nodded .

The group easily decided on watching the Titanic . Why? They wanted to see Oliver cry like a baby .

"Booooo ! Skip the first part !" Elizabeth yelled , "It's so boring !"

"Yeah ." Wade agreed , throwing his popcorn at the TV .

"Woah ! Guys ! They're actually agreeing for once !" Lucielle gasped , pointing at them . Hunter laughed and pulled her arm down . He whispered something into her ear and she covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing .

Wade rolled his eyes and slouched against the couch , ignoring them . "Only for tonight ." He grumbled .

"Okay ! Let's skip the part ." Jonna lifted up the remote and skipped until it got to the actual Titanic part . She yawned and leaned her head against her best friend's shoulder . Darnell leaned his head onto her's and tugged the blanket closer to them .

It took about twenty minutes into the movie for Hunter to stand up . "I'm bored ." Lucielle tugged him down and smacked him playfully on the head .

As the movie neared it's tragic end , Adonis found himself scooting a bit closer to Maisie. He looked over at her , admiring her features . She was beautiful , and he was helplessly in love with her .

He wanted to make a move and her nervously looked around at her brother , who was too engulfed in the movie to notice them . He slowly lifted his arm and wrapped his arm around her shoulders , pretending not to care when she looked up at him with a faint smile .

Maisie leaned into his side and relaxed into his embrace , focusing back on the movie . Adonis tried to fight back the smile creeping onto his face , but he finally gave up and smiled .

Jonna nudged Darnell and pointed at the two . "They're so cute ." She gushed .

"I know . I've been wondering when they're gonna start talking ." Darnell laughed . Jonna laid back her head on his shoulder and let her best friend play with her hair while they looked back at the movie .

The group was correct in their predictions , because Oliver was the first one to cry . Then went Zinnia , and then Maisie started crying too . Elizabeth also swore she saw Wade shed a tear but she didn't have any solid evidence because he wiped it away quickly .

Victor was laughing his ass off while Oliver bawled into his blanket , literally sobbing like crazy . He wrapped his arms around Oliver into a hug . "Oli , it's okay ." He laughed .

Zinnia was silently crying in Jonna's arms , trying to hide her face from all the other people .

Maisie at first tried to hide her tears , but when Adonis looked down and asked if she was okay , she began crying like crazy .

"He loved her so much ." She cried , her head resting on Adonis' chest .

"I know ." He responded with a smile , rubbing circles on her back .

"Everybody's such crybabies ." Hunter laughed , trying to focus on the movie . He kept glancing at the crying group every now and then .

The rest of the movie went on as if it was nothing . Maisie fell asleep almost instantly im Adonis' arms , quickly exhausted from her crying. Elizabeth and Wade began wrestling on the floor , and Oliver had to run away from the room because he was blushing so hard .

The group slowly got up and began to get ready for bed after the movie . Lucielle struggled to wake Hunter up from his position of being asleep beside her , but she ended up pulling him off the couch and onto the floor to get him up .

Zinnia was the first to go to sleep in a bed , almost falling asleep immediately the second her head hit the pillow .

The rest of the group took forever to fall asleep , everyone was running around like crazy .

Adonis slowly pulled away from Maisie and left her asleep on the couch with a blanket over her until Lucielle shook her awake and helped her get to her bed .

After that it was like a chain reaction of people falling asleep in a bed for the first time in a few days .
