── AND I TOSS AND TURN IN MY BED
. . .

SUMMARY

Remus Lupin, the son of a Ministry man-turned-homebody and a muggle woman, had not attended Hogwarts. Just like so many other young witches and wizards, he and his family had not been able to pay the fees - as low as they were - for his education and instead had attended a Muggle primary school, with magic lessons occurring after school with a tutor alongside others who could not attend in the area.

He did well in both forms of educations and went through the process of sitting both GCSEs and O.W.L.s respectively, and then A-Levels and N.E.W.Ts. Having no experience in the wizarding world beyond what was exposed to him through his parents and tutor, he decided upon a Muggle University, choosing to study medicine above all else.. because, well, he was more than fed up with being poor. And he... well, he hated it.

The people there, they were odd. They didn't seem to like him, and he wasn't sure he cared. He got a part time job, lived at home and wasn't able to spend time with them like the others did. Outside of classes, it was almost as though he didn't exist to them. And at home, his parents stifled him and pressured him to do well and he hated it. He didn't have any connection to magic, found the science he was supposed to study disgusting and knew for a fact he didn't want to be a doctor. He just wanted to be moderately comfortable.

He hated it all.

And then he made a mistake. He sat in on a Classics lecture by accident, and suddenly he was enthralled. He had enjoyed literature and history at school, but this encompassed plains of living and, amongst defiance and dispute with his overbearing parents, Remus changed his degree. English Literature, that allowed him to study the Ancient Greeks and the Classics and learn their language.

But it was not enough. He had to leave, get away from the town he had lived in all his life, his parents, who urged for the study of sickening things in laboratories and classrooms with jars of formaldehyde and floating animal organs simply so as to allow money at some vague point in the future. And he began to research, finding nowhere that seemed to agree with what he was looking for until he heard something from an old tutoring friend.

And so he applied to the Hogwarts University up in the Highlands of Scotland, went for an interview, and applied for a student loan at Gringotts to attend and left the small town he had grown up in to a place he had been to and fallen in love with, once.

An Literature undergrad, with the additional study of languages and some less formal catch-up tutorage for someone who had not yet attended a magical institution.

But he was there.
