Elijah stood outside the quaint café, his heart pounding with anticipation and anxiety. It had been over a century since he had seen Liana, and he wasn't sure if she would even remember him. But he had promised her that he would come back to her, and he intended to keep that promise.

He walked into the café, and memories flooded his mind. This was the place where they had spent countless evenings, sipping coffee and talking about their dreams and aspirations. He looked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but she wasn't there.

Elijah sat down at their usual table and ordered a coffee. As he waited, his mind drifted back to the day he had met Liana. He had come to New Orleans to look for Klaus, but he had found so much more. Liana was unlike anyone he had ever met. She was intelligent, beautiful, and had a heart of gold. Over time, he had fallen in love with her, and she had become his reason for living.

A smile crept up his face as he reminisced their first meeting...

Elijah was at the bar, quietly sipping his bourbon and observing the people around him. Suddenly, he heard a commotion as a woman with long, dark hair started arguing with the bartender. He couldn't help but overhear their conversation.

"I asked for a bourbon, not a watered-down version of it," she said, frustrated.

"I'm sorry, miss. I thought it might be too strong for you," the bartender replied, condescendingly.

Elijah stepped in, his voice calm and smooth. "Excuse me, but I believe the lady knows what she wants. Give her what she ordered."

The bartender nodded, seemingly compelled by Elijah's presence. He quickly made a stronger version of the bourbon and handed it to the woman, who turned to thank Elijah.

"Thank you, kind sir. I'm Liana," she introduced herself, offering her hand.

"Elijah," he replied, shaking her hand. He couldn't help but notice her beauty.

"Care to join me for a drink?" Liana asked, gesturing to the empty seat next to her.

Elijah agreed, and as they started to talk, he found himself becoming more and more captivated by her.

He was impressed by her knowledge of literature and art, and they shared a love of classical music. They kept bumping into each other at the bar after that, until Liana finally asked Elijah on a date.

"I can't stop thinking about you, Elijah. Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?" Liana asked, her eyes shining with hope.

Elijah smiled, his heart racing. "I would be honored."

And the rest was history.

Elijah couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt as he thought about Liana. He had promised to return to her when they parted, but his duty to his family always seemed to come first. He remembered the pain in her eyes as he had left, and the way she had clung to him, begging him not to go.

But now, over a century later, he was determined to make things right. As he waited in the café, he couldn't help but feel nervous, however. What if she had moved on? What if she no longer loved him? She might've turned to stay with him forever but that was a century ago, her feelings might've changed by now. He wouldn't blame her if they had. He was gone for longer than he'd promised.

As the hours passed, Elijah grew restless. He had been waiting for Liana for an hour, and she still hadn't shown up. Just as he was about to leave, he bumped into someone. When he looked up, he saw Liana standing before him.

"Elijah," she whispered, her eyes filling with tears.

"Liana," he breathed, his heart beating faster.

They stood there for a moment, gazing into each other's eyes, unable to believe that they were finally reunited. Then, Liana threw her arms around Elijah, and he held her tightly, afraid to let her go.

"It's been so long," she said, tears streaming down her face.

"I know, my love," Elijah replied, kissing her forehead. "But I'm here now, and I promise never to leave you again."

They sat down at their table, and Elijah told her about everything that had happened over the past century. He told her about his family, his battles, and how he had kept his promise to her, even when it seemed impossible.

"I never stopped loving you, Elijah," Liana said, taking his hand in hers. "I waited for you here every day, just like I promised."

Elijah felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at her. She was still as beautiful as ever, and he couldn't believe that she had waited for him for so long.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to come back to you," he said, squeezing her hand, "but I'm here now, and I'll never leave you again."

They sat there for hours, talking about everything and nothing, savoring each other's company, happy to be finally reunited after a century of being apart from each other. And as they walked out of the café, hand in hand, Elijah knew that he had finally found his way back to the love of his life and he was not going to let go again.
