Harry's POV

Today is currently September 19th, which happens to be Hermione's 14th birthday. Y/N had laid out a very big plan for her and invited some of the Gryffindors to help celebrate. (Myself, Ron, the twins, Ginny, Fay Dunbar, Colin Creevey, the Gryffindor quidditch team, Seamus, Dean, and Selena Raywood.)

Because Professor McGonagall is Y/Ns Godmother, he managed to get her to allow us to use an empty classroom as a surprise party for her. The plan was for us to finish decorations with the Weasleys while Y/N was to keep Hermione busy in the Great Hall until we were finished.

Professor McGonagall even helped us decorate which was greatly appreciated.

It's really nice of Y/N to do this for Hermione. I know how much he cares for her.

Y/Ns POV

After discussing the plan for Hermione's surprise party with Mum and the others, I made my way over to the Great Hall. Hermione is usually there this early in the morning.

My plan was to stall as much as I possibly could for about forty minutes until I was to take Hermione to the empty classroom that we were using for the party.

I'm feeling a bit nervous that I put Fred and George in charge of the decorations, but I'm sure whatever they have planned won't be too aggressive.

As I made my way into the Great Hall, I sat down across from Hermione.

"Where's Harry and Ron?" She asked. "And everyone else for that matter?"

"I'm sure they'll be around soon." I replied as I started to eat.

Hermione looked a bit sad as I said that, she probably thinks I forgot about her birthday. She'll be in for quite a shock when she sees what we have planned.

After about four helpings of breakfast in order to keep Hermione occupied, it was time for the party.

I will never understand how the hell Ron can eat so much every day.

I took Hermione's hand and led her out of the great hall. She was clearly very suspicious of my behavior.

"What's going on?" She questioned.

"What are you talking about Mione?" I said trying not to sound suspicious.

"You're stalling."

"Stalling?" I said. "What makes you think I'm doing that?"

"You were stuffing your face with food just now, and Harry and Ron are nowhere in sight. So the only logical explanation is that you are stalling, for what I don't know." She said confidently.

"I really don't know what you are talking about." I said. "Maybe I wanted to add some weight."

"Your body is perfect." She said. "I highly doubt you need to add a few more pounds."

"Oh you think my body is perfect?" I teased.

As I said that, her cheeks turned red and she started to stutter.

"I-I d-didn't mean-"

"Mione." I said laughing. "It's okay, I was teasing. Although, Fay Dunbar has said the same thing to me once-"

"Fay Dunbar better stay away if she knows what's good for her." She said with a hint of jealousy.

"No need to be jealous, Granger."

"All I'm saying is, she better stay away." She said while taking my hand.

Eventually, we arrived in the classroom that we were using for the party. We stopped outside as I pulled a blindfold out of my pocket.

"What's this for?" She asked.

"Don't worry Mione, just put the blindfold on." I said.

She wrapped the blindfold around her eyes as I led her into the dark classroom.

We went into the classroom, where I took the blindfold off and shouted "SURPRISE!"

A dozen voices shouted as all the lights came on, brightening the entire classroom for all to see. Hermione clapped her hands over her mouth in surprise.

Above the black board in the classroom was a sign that wore shimmering colors and mini explosions. Like they were fireworks. The sign read:

Happy Birthday Hermione!

I conjured the sign by using a special charm that I read up on, with some help from Professor Flitwick.

Hermione's eyes filled with tears as she jumped into my arms and hugged me tightly.

"I knew you wouldn't forget!" She yelped with glee.

"How could I forget such a special day." I replied. "Happy birthday Mione."

We started off by watching Hermione open her presents that everyone had given her, Ron had given her a few books, Harry had given her a telescope and some treats for Crookshanks, the twins had given her a few prank items of their own design, Ginny had given her some more books and Selena Raywood, a fellow Gryffindor in our year had given her a set of quills and a really nice looking notebook.

For some reason, Terry Boot had shown up to the party and had given her a copy of "Hogwarts a History." While smirking at me in the process.

I don't even think I invited him in the first place.

I hope he realizes that Hermione already has a copy.

Finally, it was time for my gift.

"You always manage to give me the best presents Y/N." She said. "I'm really excited to see what it is."

"It took quite a bit of effort to find everything." I said. "I hope you like it."

I handed her a medium sized box and watched as she began to open it.

Harry's POV

Hermione began to open her present. What she found inside absolutely surprised her.

Y/N had given her a copy of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Signed by the author, Newt Scamander. He also got her a silver chain with a blue stone in it. It looked really expensive, but really pretty.

A/N: Reference

"That's a sapphire in the pendant." He said. "It's the gemstone of September."

"In terms of the book, I remembered you saying a few weeks ago how the library never has any copies available. Thankfully, my Uncle managed to use his connections and had Newt Scamander himself send a signed copy."

Hermione smiled with tears in her eyes and gave him a big hug and a kiss on his cheek.

Y/Ns POV

I blushed a heavy red as Hermione kissed me on the cheek. Everyone started to cheer and clap as this happened.

"Thank you so much Y/N." She said. "This was the best birthday ever."

"Anything for you Mione."

Fred and George managed to steal a cake from the kitchens and as Hermione was cutting her cake, we all sang "Happy Birthday."

The rest of the day was spent with us celebrating Hermione's birthday until Filch came to kick us out of the empty classroom.

Me and Hermione walked back to the Gryffindor common room hand in hand. She never stopped thanking me the entire way back.

Hermione's POV

It's been about a month since my birthday, which means that the first Hogsmeade trip is right around the corner. Quite honestly, I am very excited.

Why?

Because it's just going to be me and Y/N.

Harry could not come with us because he didn't have his permission form signed. The Sirius Black situation only made matters worse for him.

Y/N had convinced Ron to go with Seamus and Dean, so we could spend some time together.

This Hogsmeade date with Y/N is going to be very exciting.

This is considered a date right? He did ask me to Hogsmeade so I'm sure it counts as one.

"Remember, these visits to Hogsmeade village are a privilege." Professor McGonagall said. "Should your behavior reflect poorly on the school....that privilege shall not be extended again. No permission form signed, no visiting the village."

Y/N was standing next to me, dressed and ready for Hogsmeade. He was wearing a nice jacket to go along with a black knit cap. He looked very cute.

"Those with permission, follow me." Filch said. "Those without, stay put."

As we made our way to Professor McGonagall, Harry decided to take his form and ask for her to sign it, but she had to decline. "I told you, Mr. Potter, no permission form, no visits for you."

"I thought if you signed it, then I could...."

"I can't. Only a parent or guardian can sign." McGonagall said. "Since I am neither, it would be inappropriate. I'm sorry Mr. Potter. That is my final word."

We gave Harry an apologetic look as he walked back to us disheartened.

"It was worth a shot mate." Y/N said.

"Will you be all right?" I asked.

"Forget about it guys." Harry said. "Go have fun."

We waved goodbye to Harry as we made our way to the carriages.

"I really feel sorry for him." Y/N said.

"I do to, but there's not much we can do about it." I said. "Harry would want us to have fun whether he is with us or not."

"You're right Mione." He said. "We might as well make the most of it."

We smiled at each other as I linked my arms with his and made our way over to the carriages.

Y/Ns POV

On the way over to Hogsmeade, me and Hermione talked about everything that came to mind. Mostly about her trip to France over the summer and my summer at the house.

After what felt like minutes, we had finally arrived in Hogsmeade village.

"Where do you want to go first?" Hermione asked me.

"Wherever you want to go is fine by me Mione." I said. "I'll have a good time nonetheless."

She blushed a heavy red. "How about we start at Honeydukes, I heard it's a wonderful candy shop."

"Sounds great!"

We then made our way through Hogsmeade with linked arms. I couldn't help but enjoy Hermione's company, just her, and not anyone else. It felt really nice to just spend time with her.

When we entered Honeydukes, we were amazed with the size of it. Loads of sweets were lined up all across the walls, and there was plenty to choose from.

Ron, Seamus, and Dean were also inside inspecting every piece of candy they could lay their hands on. While also giving suggestions on what they should get.

Me and Hermione bought a ton of sweets for us, as well as Harry since he was missing out. We bought our favorites, Cauldron Cakes and Chocolate Frogs. Along with some Tooth-Flossing Stringmints and some Drooble's Best Blowing Gum to go along with it.

I may have gotten a bit carried away and started to pick up more and more sweets because Hermione was giggling at my antics.

"Y/N have you ever been in a candy shop before?" She asked while giggling.

"Mione, I live in a house in the middle of nowhere." I said. "Plus, my Uncle would never let me go anywhere beyond a five mile radius."

We then finished picking out any other sweets we wanted and went to pay.

The next stop was to the Post Office. I heard that they have a color coordinated system on how fast you want your letters sent with two hundred owls.

That's pretty impressive.

As we entered the Post Office, we both marveled at how productive it was. Each person that was inside took each letter from the owls and put it into color coordinated spots. Because we were students, we were able to see how the whole process worked.

We even got to hold some owls which was cool. I've had loads of practice with O/N so it wasn't too difficult for me.

I even got to teach Hermione how to hold an owl, which was quite an experience to say the least. Eventually, she managed to hold an owl successfully.

We also went to a Wizardwear shop, where me and Hermione took turns putting on ridiculous outfits and took pictures of ourselves while doing so in a photo booth located inside the shop.

We even had a contest to see who could put together then most absurd outfit. Hermione won singlehanded.

After our little contest, I bought Hermione a red knit hat with the Gryffindor house crest. She immediately put it on her head as we linked arms and began to make our way to the Three Broomsticks.

On our way out of Gladrags Wizardwear,

"Oi, L/N!"

Pansy Parkinson walked over to me and Hermione with four of her friends. I recognized Mia Blackwood as the keeper from the Slytherin Quidditch team, as well as Tomas Rosewood from Hagrids first class.

"What's up, dickwad?" Mia said as she brought me in for a hug.

"Always a pleasure to see you too Mia." I said while laughing.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Pansy frowning from our interaction.

I was then introduced to a blonde Slytherin girl, Daphne Greengrass, as well as Theodore Nott. Who seemed to me like a pompous arsehole.

During our conversation, Nott was trying to flirt with Daphne and Tom wasn't having any of it.

He looked as if he wanted to punch Theo for his constant flirtation and annoyance until Pansy grabbed him by the hand in an attempt to calm him down.

I could see Daphne and Mia frown slightly at this.

What is going on?

After saying our goodbyes to the five Slytherins, we made our way over to the Three Broomsticks to try Butterbeer with one of our good friends, Selena Raywood, a fellow Gryffindor in our year.

Hermione really wanted to go to the Shrieking Shack, but since it was almost time to go, we didn't have any time for it afterwards. I did promise her that on the next Hogsmeade trip, we would go.

"Three Butterbeers please." I ordered for us as we sat down in our seats.

"So how was your time together?" Selena asked as she put her book down. "Did you do anything fun?"

Me and Hermione went on and on about our time. From me going crazy in Honeydukes to our little contest in the Wizardwear shop.

"Y/N even got me this cute hat!" Hermione said as she carefully pulled the hat off of her head.

I then showed Selena all the pictures we took of us trying on the different outfits at Gladrags.

"That's great!" Selena said. "You guys must have enjoyed your time here!"

"Three butterbeers." A waiter said as he brought three glass filled mugs with a carmelish liquid with whipped cream.

We all raised our mugs in the air and said "Cheers!" as our mugs clinked together. It was a shame that Harry could not enjoy it with us.

As I took a sip of my drink, I instantly loved the taste. It consisted of butterscotch and sugar. It was delicious and I loved it so much.

Hermione must have enjoyed hers as well, because she had a bit of whipped cream on her upper lip.

"Hey Mione?" I said. "You've got a little something right here." I motioned to the spot on her lip.

"Did I get it?" She asked as she wiped in the complete opposite direction.

"Here let me." I said as I laughed a little.

I took my thumb to her lip and wiped it off. Causing both of us to blush.

"You guys are so adorable." Selena said teasingly.

This comment only made us blush more.

We finished our Butterbeers as Mum came and announced that it was time to go back to the castle.

The three of us met up with Ron at the carriages and shared one together. Throughout the ride back to Hogwarts, we told Ron about what we had done with our time together

Eventually, I felt a some weight fall upon my shoulder. Hermione had fallen asleep and I couldn't help but smile. I wrapped my arm around her as Ron and Selena continued to tease me.

Harry's POV

While Y/N, Hermione, and Ron went to Hogsmeade, I had myself a chat with Professor Lupin.

"Professor, can I ask something?" I asked.

"You want to ask about your boggart I presume." He said as I nodded. "I thought it'd be obvious for you. I assumed it won't take the shape of Lord Voldemort."

"I did think of Voldemort at first." I said. "But then I remembered that night on the train....and the dementor."

"I'm very impressed." Lupin said. "That suggests what you fear most....is fear itself. That is very wise."

"Before I fainted..I heard something. A woman....screaming. Y/N said that he heard spells and screaming as well."

"Dementors force us to relive our worst memories. Our pain becomes their power."

"I think it was my mother....the night she was murdered."

Lupin eyebrows furrowed. "If you heard your mother the night she died, Y/N must have heard the night Steven and Emily were tortured by Voldemort. The first time I saw you Harry, I recognized you immediately. Not by your scar, but by your eyes."

"They're your mother's. Lily's."

"Professor." I said. "You knew my mum? And Y/Ns parents?"

"Oh, yes. I knew her." Lupin said. "Your mother was there for me at a time no one else was. Not only was she a singularly gifted witch...she was an uncommonly kind woman. She and Emily were the best of friends. Practically inseparable."

I nodded in agreement. "She had a way of seeing the beauty in others....even, and most especially, when that person could not see themselves. And your father, James, on the other hand...he had a certain, shall we say, talent for trouble. As was Y/Ns father, Steven. A talent, rumor has it, they passed on to both of you. You're more like them than you know, Harry . In time you'll come to see how much."

Y/N, Hermione, and Ron eventually joined me as the returned from Hogsmeade.

"Honeydukes Sweetshop is brilliant, Harry!" Ron exclaimed. "But nothing can beat Zonko's Joke Shop."

"We never got to go to the Shrieking Shack." Hermione said while she was holding Y/Ns hand.

"We'll go next time." He said to Hermione as she smiled. "I've heard it's-"

"The most haunted place in Britain. I know." I said as I cut him off.

All of a sudden, the Gryffindors suddenly stopped walking and started to talk amongst themselves.

"What's going on?" Y/N asked.

"Probably Neville forget the password again." Ron said.

"I'm right here, you know!" Neville said behind us.

"Sorry Nev."

"Excuse me, I'm Head Boy!" Percy called behind us. "Get back, all of you." As he looked up, he realized what was happening. We couldn't get through because the Fat Lady was missing.

The portrait was now empty, only scared with scratch marks. "No one is to enter this dormitory until it's been searched. The Fat Lady's gone!"

"Serves her right." Ron said. "She was a terrible singer."

"I wonder why she's not here." Y/N said.

"The headmasters here!" Seamus announced as Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Filch came to see what had happened.

As Dumbledore looked at the damage to the portrait, he turned to Filch.

"Mr. Filch, could you round up the ghosts?" He asked. "Tell them to search every castle to find the Fat Lady."

"There's no need for ghosts, Professor." Filch said cattily. "The Fat Lady's there."

He then pointed to a portrait that was further down the hall.

The Professor's and the other Gryffindor's were led by Percy to the portrait. The Fat Lady peered out and looked at us.

"Dear lady." Dumbledore said calmly. "Who did this to you?"

The Fat Lady looked scared straight. "Eyes like the devil, he's got, and a soul as dark as his name. It's him headmaster!" She cried. "The one they all talk about. He's here, somewhere in the castle! Sirius Black!"

"Oh....shit." Y/N whispered.

Y/Ns POV

Our next alternative was to get dressed for bed and spend the night in the Great Hall. We were all given sleeping bags to use on the floor as the tables were no longer there.

Somehow, our pets got out of the common room, so Gracie, Crookshanks, and Scabbers all came down to join us.

To Ron's excitement, Laura and Ashley felt bad came down to talk to us until Professor Sprout took them back to the Hufflepuff common room.

Ashley brought a blanket with her as well as her jar of cookies, to everyone's enjoyment.

I noticed that Hermione was a bit on edge so I inches closer to her. She noticed and wrapped her arms around me tightly.

"Do you think Black is still in the castle?" She asked us.

"The teachers couldn't find him. And Filch finds any kind of student, so if Filch can't find Black he's most likely out." Ron said.

Other people around us started to have their own conversations and theories on how Black could have broken in, like secret entrances, him apparating into the castle, or sneaking past the dementors.

"Are these people that stupid?" I asked. "No one can apparate into Hogwarts but Dumbledore and Filch has to know about all the entrances."

"It's like we are the only ones who read Hogwarts: A History." Hermione said.

"That's because you probably are." Ron said.

"Shut up Billius."

"How do you know my middle name?"

"Don't worry about it."

"The lights are going out now!" Percys voice boomed through the Great Hall. All of the students laid down in their sleeping bags as our pets fell asleep. Crookshanks and Gracie fell asleep side by side next to me and Hermione.

Hermione still seemed to be a bit scared, as she was unable to fall asleep after a few minutes.

"Mione?" I whispered softly. "Is everything all right?"

"I can't sleep." She said. "What if Black comes back again?"

"Don't think about that." I said as I wrapped my arms around her. "I'm here for you, and if Black does come back, God forbid, he'll have to go through me first."

She smiled softly and kissed my cheek. "Thank you so Y/N." She said. "That's very noble of you."

"Anything for you Mione."

She wrapped her arms around me tightly and fell asleep.

As I was about to fall asleep myself, I noticed an average sized bird outside the Great Hall. The bird had two golden colored eyes gazing at me in the distance. The bird stared at me for a few more seconds before eventually flying away.

Weird.
