Genderfluid, also spelled gender-fluid (hyphenated) or gender fluid (separate words), is a gender identity that is individualized as it is fluid in nature. Genderfluid means that a person's gender identity is fluid, malleable, and open to change, based on both the individual and their surroundings.

It is not a static identity, nor is it limited by a binary understanding of gender. Since gender integrates a person's identity, there can be as many genders as there are people on this earth.

With this particular gender identity, it is essential to understand that each person has the right to decide what it means to them, including multiple genders, all genders, changing genders, no genders or any combination, derivative, or alternative to these options.

The Genderfluid Flag:

The Genderfluid flag (accompanying this article) was created by JJ Poole in 2012. Its colors are meant to reflect the fluidity and flexibility of people with this identity.

It has five horizontal stripes, including: 

Pink for femininity

Blue for masculinity

Purple for both masculinity and femininity

Black for the lack of gender

White for all genders

In aggregate, the flag embraces the wide range of gender identities experienced by Genderfluid individuals.

Gender fluid is a term that is embraced by many but still confusing to some. It can mean many different things to different people and it's important to keep in mind that it's a different experience for each individual.
