Catching Up

EVANGELINE AND THE DENALIS SEPARATED WAYS. They understood that Evangeline wanted to stay because she had finally met her mate/husband.

Kate was excited since Jasper was Evangeline's mate, and she had known Jasper for a very long time, and she trusted him to treat Evangeline well, and they were married, so she couldn't really object.

"Jasper's married. What's new, to all of us, except Alice," Emmett says while putting his arm around Rosalie's shoulder.

"I never really thought about it. I want Evangeline to be private," Jasper tells them, pulling Evangeline closer to him, not wanting to be separated from her any time soon.

"When did you guys get married?" Rosalie asks them with a gentle smile.

"1860, I was 17, and so was he, back then, it was very common to marry at a young age. Mother and father wanted me to marry a suitable man, and Jasper fitted to that category," Evangeline says while looking at Jasper lovingly so that Jasper could practically feel it radiating from her.

"Were childhood best friends used to sneak into their compound back then just to see her," Jasper says with a chuckle.

"How adorable," Esme says with a big smile.

"It amazes me that he never got caught," Evangeline says.

"She's very irresistible," Jasper says with a smirk.

"How about you two go on for a vacation for a while, catch up with each other? Edward and Bella are staying in Isle Esme for two months," Carlisle says while holding Esme's hand.

"Hey, we could also use a vacation. We haven't really spent time together since you planned the wedding," Theodore tells Alice with a pout.

"Sure, why not? I already know where we're going," Alice says as she pecks his lips.

"Of course you do," Theodore says while shaking his head.

Evangeline took Jasper's wrist, pulling him towards his bedroom, now hers also, now she was sitting on Jasper's lap, her fingers tangling in his honey-blonde hair.

"How about we take a vacation to our hometown?" Evangeline asks him.

"I think that's a great idea, darlin'," Jasper says with his thick southern accent that makes Evangeline swoon.

"I can never get tired of you calling me that," Evangeline says as she leans forward, kissing his lips. Jasper puts his hand behind Evangeline's neck, deepening the kiss.

"Darlin'," Jasper says, pulling away from her, a smirk on his lips. Evangeline hums happily.

"Cowboy," Evangeline says, snaking his arms around Jasper's neck.

"I missed you so much. I never went home after I received the news. I busied myself. That's why I became the youngest major," Jasper says, looking at her eyes intently.

"I wanted to change you so bad, I wanted to be selfish, but I just can't take your life away," Evangeline says, leaning into his chest.

"You know I'll agree to you changing me. Forever with you is an opportunity I'm willing to take," Jasper tells her while tucking a strand of stray hair behind her ear.

"I was there when you received the news, I wanted to just appear right in front of you and tell you that I'm fine, that I'm alive, but I can't," Evangeline tells him with a frown.

"I know, darl', I know," Jasper calms her using his gift.

"Did you do that?" Evangeline asks. She was confused about how she was sad, and now she felt calm.

"I did," Jasper smirks.

"You're an empath," Evangeline states while tilting her head.

"That I am, darlin'," Jasper confirms. "Do you have a gift?"

"I do. You'll find out soon," Evangeline says with a wink, standing up from his lap and walking over to the bed, gently laying herself.

Jasper stands up and follows her actions, laying beside her as he hugs her from behind, spooning her.

He finally felt complete.
