Now we're at Route 2, and we find Calem and Shauna together. "Oh! Hi, guys!"

"Hello to you guys. So what are you doing?" I ask.

"Calem is teaching me how to catch a Pokemon." Shauna says.

Calem says, "Now watch carefully, Shauna."

Then a Bunnelby appears and Calem goes for a Fletchling, after weakening the Bunnelby, Calem throws the Pokeball and capture the Bunnelby.

"Wow! The Pokémon went INSIDE the Poké Ball?!" Shauna asks, and we all give her a look that says 'really?'

"Seriously, Shauna? Did you forget already? Your Pokémon is in a Poké Ball, right? Anyway, I'll share some Poké Balls with you."

He gives Shauna the Pokeballs, and Shauna says, "Poké Balls! Do you think I can catch Pokémon with them, too?"

"If you throw a Poké Ball at a Pokémon around here, you'll probably catch it."

"OK! If I find a cute Pokémon, I'll throw lots of Poké Balls at it, and then we'll become friends! " Shauna cheers.

David says, "You really have some teaching skills you have there, Calem."

Serena says, "His parents are good trainers, after all."

Calem smiles, "You can talk about my parents if you want, but it doesn't have anything to do with me. Be seeing you."

After the two of them leave, we decide to capture some Pokemon for ourselves. And our first goal is Bunnelby, since we don't have one yet.

Bunnelby: The Digging Pokemon: Normal Type. It has ears like shovels. Digging holes strengthens its ears so much that they can sever thick roots effortlessly.

As we continue moving, Pikachu, Froakie, Absol, and Zoroark feel something as a berry drops onto Pikachu's head. But when Pikachu tries to get it, a Thunder Shock appears out of nowhere and hits the berry, which bounces to Bonnie's forehead.

"Bonnie, are you okay?" Clemont asks.

"Wow, that was a shock..." Bonnie says as she rubs the spot that is hit.

"What was it?" Elline asks as we try to look around. Bonnie picks up the berry and says, "Maybe it wanted this..."

Just then, we find a Dedenne comes out from the hiding spot as Pikachu gets in his way.

"It's so cute!" Bonnie gasps.

"Back off, that's mine!" Dedenne says.

"What are you talking about?" Pikachu asks, and then they start communicate with electricity. Elline says, "Dedenne is an Electric and Fairy Type Pokemon, though I wonder why it is here..."

"I want it so bad! Hey, you'll keep it for me, won't you?" Bonnie asks.

"Keep it?" Serena asks.

"Yeah! He'll keep it for me until I'm old enough to become a trainer." Bonnie explains. "Pretty, pretty please? I promise I'll take care of it..."

"Let me see..." Clemont mutters. "Alright then, let's catch Dedenne."

Bonnie says, "Dedenne, you want this, right?"

Bonnie then offers the berry to Dedenne while Clemont gets a Pokéball ready. Suddenly something small and fast snatches the berry from Bonnie's hand.

"What the big idea?" We see a Fletchling, who eats the berry that it steals. Dedenne starts to cry and then runs off.

"Dedenne! Wait!" Bonnie yells, but it has gone far.

"I don't think it's going to get back..." Clemont says with a frown.

Froakie seems to notice Bonnie's sad face as he starts to attack Fletchling with the Frubbles, only to be dodged.

"It's so fast!" Serena says.

"Alright, I am going to catch that Fletchling now!" I say. "Pikachu, use-"

But before he can attack, Froakie starts to attack the Pokemon on his own.

"Come on, Froakie! We don't even have a plan!" I try to have Pikachu use Thunderbolt, but Froakie just stops him before attacking with Water Pulse, only to be dodged by Fletchling's Double Team.

"Froakie, just take it easy and let Pikachu handle this." Serena tries to hold onto Froakie, but Froakie just says, "No way."

Then he continues to battle the Fletchling. David says, "Hold on, didn't Professor Sycamore say that Froakie had a habit of ignoring its trainer when battling?"

"I'm starting to understand." I say. "Stories about Froakie leaving its trainers... I get it!"

As they continue to fight, I stop Froakie and say, "I know how you feel Froakie. But you've gotta listen to me."

Just then, Feltchling uses Razor Wind, and I take the hit because I try to shield Froakie. "You guys okay, too?" I ask.

"We're fine." Elline says.

"Froakie. I understand. You wanted to get even with Fletchling for making Bonnie sad." I say.

"Is that true? Thank you, Froakie!" Bonnie hugs the Pokemon which causes him to blush a little. Serena says, "But you have to plan if you want to do it. So first we have to figure out a way to lure it in."

Clemont says, "Well, you just leave it to me! You see, the future is now thanks to science CLEMONTIC GEAR on. Presenting my Flying-type Pokemon Attracting Machine!"

Bonnie says, "The name could use a little work."

Elline says, "Just great, one inventor is enough, now we have two..."

"You see, Bird Pokemon have a homing instinct by using sound waves of a certain frequency, this little invention of mine can attract or repel Bird Pokemon by affecting their internal compass! Watch this! Power on!" Clemont says as he cranks up the record player, there Fletchling sits on a branch watching what's happening.

"It's started to work!" Clemont says.

"Science sure is amazing." David says, "I wonder if you have some blueprints that I can see."

But then, we realize that we're being watched, and Clemont is still trying to spin until we spot some Beedrill. "Not Beedrills again!" I mutter.

"Yeah, we've already had enough chases from Beedrill in Kanto!" I say as we try to run.

"I must have picked too low a frequency when a higher frequency would have worked a whole lot better!" Clemont says while still cranking the machine. He then starts to crank faster which attracts the Beedrill a lot more.

"Stop it Clemont! You are making it worse!" Elline yells.

"I'm sure I can affect the Flying-type Pokemon if I just crank it up full blast! Here it goes!" Clemont says, only to make the machine explode, the Beedrill and we are caught in the explosion.

"Clemont that was great, you attracted all those Beedrill!" David says.

"I guess I did." Clemont says.

We look up to see Fletchling laughing at us. But noticing the terrain, I just have an idea.

"This is it, the perfect place to battle. Time to settle the score." I say. "Froakie. I'm your trainer, now it's you and me. This whole area is our battlefield. It's full of high and low places, and with your awesome jumping skills, you'll rock!"

Then Froakie then uses the cliffs of the ravine to bring itself to the same height as Fletchling. And with Froakie using its Frubbles as decoy, Fletchling is trapped, and now Froakie uses Bubble to defeat the Fletchling as it falls from the sky.

"Okay." I twist my hat and says, "Go! Pokeball!"

And much to our delight, Fletchling is captured.

Fletchling: The Tiny Robin Pokemon: Normal and Flying Type. These friendly Pokémon send signals to one another with beautiful chirps and tail-feather movements.

"That was amazing." Bonnie says.

"Yeah, and we get to understand more about Froakie." Serena says.

As we send Fletchling out, it then apologizes to Bonnie about his behavior. While we're preparing for lunch, Bonnie tries to take care of Pikachu and Fletchling by cleaning them up. When they're trying to feed him food, the same Dedenne comes and snatches a piece of Pokémon food from her hand, and runs up a tree to eat it.

"Could that be the very same Dedenne?" Clemont asks.

"Yeah, the one who ran away!" Bonnie asks.

"It must've been following us this whole time!" Serena says.

Bonnie realizes something and says, "Come on, Clemont! Catch it, please!"

"All right..." Before Clemont can reach a Pokeball. Dedenne runs off. "Come and catch me." He says.

"Come back!" Bonnie yells as she chases the Pokemon.

"Fletchling, follow it!" Serena has Fletchling follow the Pokemon, but he loses it in the end.

"Dedenne! Where are you? Come out come out wherever you are!" Bonnie says until she trips over a small hole.

"Bonnie!" Everyone yells as she opens her eyes, seeing Dedenne in the hole.

"There you are!" Bonnie tries to capture the Pokemon, but he starts to play games with us like a wack-a-Diglett game. Clemont sends out Bunnelby to help find it, and after a while, Dedenne hasn't shown up and now Pikachu is also missing.

"I think they're gone..." Elline says.

"They probably got away." David says.

"Maybe, but Pikachu hasn't come back either." Serena says.

Now we're starting to get worried, and even Bunnelby can't fight them, and Fletchling decides to look for Pikachu in the air, until he spots them and leads us there.

"Pikachu!" We rush to him and I say, "I'm so worried about you, buddy!"

Pikachu says, "Not right now! Dedenne needs help! It just fell into the river..."

As we check Dedenne's condition, Serena ask, "Is there a Pokemon Center nearby?"

"I think we should treat Dedenne right here!" Clemont says. "Let's give it some electricity!"

"Electricity? How do we do that?" David asks.

"Just leave it to me." Clemont says, "Remember, the future is now, thanks to science! CLEMONTIC GEAR on! I got the perfect machine for a situation like this. Presenting my Electricity Generator."

Bonnie sighs, "Another boring name."

Clemont takes the plastic board and says, "Now obverse. If you place the plastic cardboard under your arm and rub it like this..."

He places the board on top of Bonnie and her hair straightens up. "...the resulting friction causes the buildup of electrons and creates static electricity, see? This brilliant machine uses that exact same principle, which allows it to create a massive electrical charge!"

I say, "It sounds amazing. Maybe we can try it out."

As Clemont places Dedenne under the machine and switches on it, it starts to create electricity and then Dedenne wakes up.

Everyone is happy to see Dedenne wake up, Elline asks, "I think it is enough, right?"

"One problem... I can't." Clemont then shows them the lever he broke it. Causing them to panic as the machine overheats.

"Dedenne! Get out of there!" Bonnie yells.

David says, "You've gotta stop that thing!"

"I wish I knew how!" Clemont says.

"Serena, hold on me." I say as I pull her in a hug as the machine explodes. After everyone's safe, Clemont says, "Oopsie, I guess it's back to the drawing board."

"Yeah, look at our hair..." Bonnie mutters.

Dedenne then comes to us and thanks us for the electricity, Dedenne then uses Electricity to talk to Pikachu, and Pikachu tells us that Dedenne wants to join the group, Bonnie is happy as Clemont captures it and then lets him stay in Bonnie's bag.

After we leave, we decide to continue moving as we look around the area for some Pokemon. "Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey... there sure is a lot of Pokemon from Kanto."

Serena says, "Route 2 is also known as Avance Trail. You see, in Kalos, all the routes have their own names. Route 1 is called Vaniville Pathway, a small and quiet country lane that connects Vaniville Town and Aquacorde Town. And this Route 2 is Avance Trail, you'll find many Pokémon hiding among the tall grass that grows in tufts along this trail."

"I've never noticed that before, but now that you mention it, it sure is interesting." David says.

And before heading into Santalune Forest, we capture a Scatterbug, which is one of the Bug Type Pokemon that I want to catch in the Kalos Region.

Scatterbug: The Scatter Dust Pokemon: Bug Type. When under attack from bird Pokémon, it spews a poisonous black powder that causes paralysis on contact.

Here is a new chapter, and this chapter marks some new captures on Route 2. The next chapter will be Santalune Forest and also Route 3. Maybe with a little more Santalune City but not sure if the gym is ready yet.
