Before getting to the second Battle Frontier, Ash and Lillie capture more Pokemon. For Johto's Fighting Type Pokemon, Ash and Lillie decide to meet up with the Karate Master in Saffron City and challenge him to a battle, receiving a Hitmontop in the end. Then for the Kanto's Water Type Pokemon, Ash and Lillie manage to fish out a Tentacool and a Staryu near the ocean of Sevestar, evolving them into Tentacruel and Starmie.

"We finally find Suicune." Ash says after searching around the Johto Region for a long time, and Suicune roars and says, "I've heard a lot about you, how me your strength."

Ash and Lillie nod as they use Pikachu to battle Suicune. Pikachu nods at Suicune as they start to clash with each other with their attacks. After Suicune is defeated, Ash uses the chance to capture the Pokemon.

"Suicune is said to be the reincarnation of north winds, it can instantly purify filthy, murky water." Lillie says.

"I know, I've seen it firsthand while trying to save Celebi." Ash says.

During these days, Ash and Lillie have been making music together and monitoring the houses using the Moon base's monitors, that way they will make sure Team Rocket isn't going to take their bases back. Lillie is also interested in performing magic tricks, so she has been practicing them for her own pleasure.

Before getting to the third Battle Frontier, Ash manages to evolve Phanpy into a Donphan while traveling with May and the others. For Kanto's Flying Types, Ash and Lillie find the Magikarp Salesman again and this time they manage to buy one Magikarp to train it into a Gyarados. They also make sure that the salesman is arrested for illegal sales of Magikarp. For Kanto's Fighting Types, Ash and Lillie capture a Machop at Rock Tunnel, and by training and using the Trade, they manage to get a Machamp in the end. They also get a Poliwhirl by fishing, and they use the Water Stone to evolve it into a Poliwrath. For Johto's Steel Type Pokemon, Ash and Lillie capture a Skarmory at Route 43, and they get an Onix from the Rock Tunnel and evolve it into a Steelix using Metal Coat and trade. The same thing can be used on Scyther that they got in the Safari Zone. They also find a Pineco in the trees and capture it, evolving it into a Forretress in the end.

They find a Gengar who was abandoned by his former trainer because of the bad luck it brings, Ash and Lillie capture it and they learn that this Gengar is the Pokemon that will help them train with the Ghost Type Aura: The Knives of Ghost.

During his journey to the fourth Battle Frontier, Ash and the group deals with a mess made by Celebi with a ranger named Solana. While with Lillie, they continue to capture new Pokemon. For Kanto's Psychic Type Pokemon, Ash and Lillie find an Exeggcute at the Safari Zone and evolve it into an Exeggutor with a Leaf Stone. A Kadabra at Cerulean Cave and use the Trade to evolve into Alakazam. And they also capture a Drowzee at Route 11 and evolve it into a Hypno. For Kanto's Grass Types, they capture a Paras in and evolve it into a Parasect.

While on Mt. Moon, Ash and Lillie also find the fourth Team Rocket Base, which is located inside a cave. The two of them decide to work alone to defeat the grunts and get to the cyborg. This Cyborg is a male named Goku. The mechanical parts are as hard as rocks, and they seem to be good at defenses.

"The boss has warned all of us that three of the bases have fallen, as per his orders, we're going to capture you two." Then he uses Diamond Storm to hit Ash and Lillie, but Ash and Lillie use their Swords to protect themselves.

"Let's see if you can really beat us." Lillie says as they continue to fight with each other. And in the end, Lillie accidentally has Steelix use Earthquake, and the shake causes Goku to be shattered into pieces.

"That was not expected... I mean, we usually go with their weakness... but..." Ash says.

"Let's call the International Police and get them to clean up the mess..." Lillie sighs.

While cleaning the place, they also find the document of the Cyborg.

Goku: Age:24. Born: Kanto. When he was little, he has been abandoned inside the cave. Whenever he asks for help, people will only treat him as a monster because of his inability to speak and interact with others. Thus the hatred grows inside his heart. He was found by Team Rocket and asked to join, he also learned everything by joining them. After joining Team Rocket, he becomes one of the testers of the Cyborgs. His typing and code name are "Rock" He also absorbs the power of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon of Rock Type for Team Rocket. The Weakness of the Cyborg is that it can't stand the quakes.

After stopping the Cyborg, they manage to make the cave their own hideout. At the same time, Ash finds interest in mining minerals inside Mt. Moon. He also tries to learn how to carve jewels for Lillie. As for Lillie, after finding more fossils in Mt. Moon, she wants to learn how to revive fossils so that she can become an expert.

Before the fifth gym, Ash evolves Grovyle into a Sceptile, but he suffers a heartbreak. It takes some time for it to feel better. For Kanto's Poison Types, Ash and Lillie capture a male Nidoran and also evolve it into a Nidoking and an Ekans that evolves into an Arbok at Route 3. For Kanto's Normal Types, Ash and Lillie reunite with his Pidgeot, and Pidgeot rejoins the group after picking another leader to fight against Fearow. They also find the Jigglypuff who likes to sing, and after persuading it, it evolves into a Wigglytuff and stop singing. For Johto's Ice Types, Ash and Lillie find Delibird at the Ice Path and capture it.

After getting the fifth symbol, they continue to capture new Pokemon. For Kanto's Fairy Types, Lillie insists that she refuses to let Clefairy evolve, and Ash respects her wishes by having a Clefairy. For Kanto's Ground Types, with the help of Nidoking, they also manage to pick a Nidoqueen for themselves. For Johto's Dragon Type, they find a Seadra at the Dragon's Den and evolve it into a Kingdra using trade and Dragon's Scale.

Before heading to the final gym, Ash and his group manage to find a Deoxys and help him out. And while with Lillie, they decide to finish capturing new Pokemon. For Kanto's Ice Type, Ash reunites with his old Lapras and she decides to rejoin the team. And they also find a Jynx in the Seafoam Islands and capture it. For Kanto's Dragon Types, Ash and Lillie find a Dragonite Island and they help a Dragonair learn how to fly, also evolving the Pokemon into a Dragonite. For Johto's Dark Types, they find an Eevee and evolve it into an Umbreon, and a Houndour that evolves into a Houndoom.

Before capturing the Jynx, Ash and Lillie are riding on their boat toward the Seafoam Islands, and Lillie asks, "So Ash, have you been to Seafoam Islands before?"

"I haven't. I only heard that it is filled with Kanto Ice Type Pokemon, but I have never been inside before." Ash says.

After parking the boat, heading inside the cave of the Seafoam Islands, and capturing a Jynx, they manage to find Articuno in front of them. Articuno can use telepathy and he says, "You guys are the Chosen Ones?"

"You can say so. We're here because we need your help to assist us in stopping the evil in this world." Ash says.

"I will come with you only if you can defeat me in a battle." Articuno says.

Ash says, "I accept the challenge. What do you say, Lillie?"

"Count me in." Lillie replies.

Ash and Lillie battle together by using Regirock and Ho-Oh to battle. Articuno is surprised that those two manage to capture the Legendary Pokemon, but it does want to give up as it goes for Blizzard, even though Regirock and Ho-Oh can take the hit, but Lillie is shivering a little.

"This place is really cold...What is going on here..." Lillie mutters.

"Don't give up until it is over, Lillie. Regirock and Ho-Oh are fine, so we have to stay strong. Zap Cannon!" Ash commands Registeel to use the attack.

"And you go with Sacred Fire!" Both attacks managed to hit Articuno as it struggles to stay back up. Ash and Lillie think that it is enough as they recall their Pokemon.

Articuno says, "To think two of the Legendary Pokemon have joined you willingly...I must say you are the Chosen ones."

Ash and Lillie thank the bird Pokemon and capture it.

After several days of traveling, Ash is possessed by the King of Pokélantis, and it is thanks to Brandon that he is saved. After that day, Ash discusses the whole thing with Lillie on phone.

"That means you didn't get the final Symbol because of that king, and the king is sealed inside the ancient ball again?" Lillie asks.

"I just hope that there aren't some aftermaths because of it. I usually don't lose with Sceptile, though..." Ash sighs.

"By the way, Ash, you're heading to Indigo Plateau, right? It is only several days before the Kanto League started." Lillie says.

"Yeah, and this time I'm going to win this." Ash says as he ends the call, and when he goes back to the others, Max rushes to Ash and asks, "Hey, Ash! Did you know that the Kanto League is around the corner, and they also let those who lost the first time re-challenging again if they still have the 8 badges."

"Really?" Ash asks.

Brock says, "This might be a good chance to get your revenge, considering what happened to your Charizard two years ago. And since Mays' Grand Festival is also at the Indigo Plateau, it might be a good idea to register again."

Ash says, "About that...I have already registered, my Mom is the Kanto Champion, and she told me about this a few weeks ago..."

The final opponent for Ash is Charizard's former trainer Damian. Professor Oak contacts Ash as Delia has suspicions that Damian has some trade with Team Rocket, so Ash decides to use only his Charizard to battle against Damian's full team. And just like they have assumed, Damian has used drugs on his Pokemon and the only thing that stops the police to arrest him is Ash's request to defeat Damian himself.

Since May, Max, and Brock manage to finish the Grand Festival first, and they manage to see the final match with Ash against Damian. After Damian is defeated and arrested, Ash is the new Kanto League winner.

"Wow, Ash. How did you think those moves?" Max asks after the battle is over.

"Training, you'll understand when you become a trainer." Ash says, but Max is a little annoyed that he didn't tell him everything.
