'Just leave Bruce. Do you hear me?' A woman yelled at her husband.

'Oh. Don't pretend that you care for them, Carol.' He said and tip toed to the kid's bedroom to make sure that they weren't up.

Carol smashed the glass against the wall. 'Says the man who doesn't even bothers to come here!'

'Stop. The kids are asleep for God's sake. I don't want to argue with you anymore. I'm taking the girls with me.'

'Oh yeah. After leaving us alone for six months, now you come back and pretend like you care for them. I'm not going to let that happen Bruce. '

'They need to have a normal childhood, Carol. I'm taking them with me.'

'You won't.' Carol said in a slightly different voice, forcing Bruce to stop.

With the change in Carol's voice and expressions, Bruce knew fighting with her won't be of any use. 'I'm  going now but I will come back for my girls.'

'You can do all you want.'

A little girl heard her parents fighting, hiding behind her bedroom's door. After watching her father leave the house, the girl shut the door carefully not make any noise that would raise her mother's attention and went inside her room.

She went near the cradle and bend forward. 'I won't let anything happen to you, Rhonda. I promise.' She watched her baby sister sleeping peacefully. 

Author's note : For those who do not remember, Rhonda was the name of Margaret's younger sister and Carol and Bruce are Margaret's parents.
