Alternate Universe

Third Person's POV

Each high school has different popularity classes. These classes divide and bring together students that have an "equal" popularity rank. Popularity itself is supposed to just be a completely useless and pointless thing that our brains came up with to classify ourselves. But we all know that it can make a difference to a student's high school journey.

Some schools, especially high intelligence boarding schools, are controlled by the smartest students. They rule the school and everyone else is below them and trying to get past them. In most schools however, intelligence alone won't get you anywhere.

Attractiveness sadly is how most popularity systems work. It only takes weeks for the whole school to recognize who's in the top of the totem pole. Usually the most popular girls and boys will date amongst themselves and work together to breeze through their high school experience.

Usually you need to also be good at sports or Pokémon battling to solidify your spot on top along with being good looking. But since the emergence of coordinating and performing, you need to have battling accomplishments outside of school to show that you're gifted in battling.

Nimbasa High has developed a popularity system that combines good looks with natural abilities. You think this would create friend groups that are based solely on status but because of its vast amount of feeder schools, students tend to stick together with the friends they grew up with.

Elesa, Iris, and Skyla occupy the higher part of the food chain. They're probably the most sought after and attractive young women while also being exceptional in their work of art. It's rare for girls to battle nowadays since other careers have dragged them over since they're more attractive to them.

Elesa is commonly called the electrifying beauty because of her flashy yellow clothes and blonde hair. She has the figure of a stereotype model and she knows where she fits in the spectrum.

Iris is shorter with bushy purple hair that might be bigger than herself. She wears traditional clothing from her birthplace the Village of Dragons. She's more of a careless person who loves to enjoy life as it is instead of worrying about the past or future.

Skyla is much like Iris in terms of a very adventurous personality. Her long pink hair is tied with a sky blue clip that matches a tight fit flying suit. Unlike the other two, she's not as afraid to flirt with any guy in the school.

How about we see what the point of the story really is shall we?

"Another year," Elesa greets her two friends on the front steps of the downtown city school.

"Another adventure!" Iris cheers.

"Maybe you guys will actually get a boyfriend for once," Skyla jokes. "Like honestly, Elesa you for sure could form a power couple."

"Like you and Gary," Iris giggles. "Top two battlers, both popular with a large amount of friends and followers."

"I told you guys a million times," Elesa groans. "I wait for the guy to come to me."

"But they have," Skyla rolls her eyes. "Except you've probably scared them all off by rejecting basically every boy in this school on a daily basis."

"What a shame," Elesa says and leads them into the school.

"Let's change the subject since Elesa is scared of committing to relationship," Skyla says.

"I want to change my home room subject from English to Pokémon battling," Iris sighs. "I don't listen anyways so why bother taking it?"

"Because you have to if you want a piece of paper saying 'congratulations you might have a chance in life'," Skyla says sarcastically.

"Because a 75 minute class is so hard to get through," Elesa rolls her eyes. "And we have Pokémon battling like right after English."

"Still," Iris argues. "I'm throwing away my prime years to a English teacher who doesn't want to be there either."

"Look on the bright side though Iris," Skyla joins Elesa's side. "We're all in the sane classes so we can just copy off of Elesa who actually cares."

"You might want to say that before you enter the class," Our English teacher Professor Rowan sighs. "Should I stop you guys from sitting beside each other?"

"No I've learned ways to protect my page from unwanted eyes," Elesa giggles and glares at her friends.

"There'll be something on the other side I can copy off of instead," Skyla shrugs.

"Please just sit down," Professor Rowan says while questioning his decision to teach teenagers.

In the front row of the standard classroom, the new kid sits quietly while feeding his Pikachu. His name is Ash Ketchum, he transferred from a whole other region. Ash hears the three girls make their way towards the back so he looks up.

In front is the beautiful blonde we know as Elesa. He can't take his eyes off her while she walks through the desks to get in the back row.

In Elesa's view she scouts the room to find three empty seats for the three of them. She looks down the row Ash is in and completely...

Overlooks him.

She continues and takes a seat a few rows back. After a few painfully long minutes and a deafening bell ringing, Professor Rowan starts his class. "Apparently our guidance counsel or wants all of the new students to feel welcome so I'm going to try my best here," He states.

"Ash want to stand up and introduce yourself?" Professor Rowan continues.

Ash shrugs and stands up with his Pikachu on his shoulder. "Well I'm from Kanto for starters and Pikachu here is my number one pal."

"A Pikachu is pretty rare here in Unova," Gary interrupts and Professor Rowan realizes that it's going to be a long semester. "Are a Pokémon trainer who focuses on battles?"

"You betcha," Ash says confidently. "And I'd say we're pretty good."

"No one from the boonies is good," A random annoying student adds.

"Pokémon battling next?" Gary asks and Ash nods. "See you next class then."

This altercation with Gary led to people actually taking interest in Ash. He's decently attractive but unless he can prove his worth as a trainer, he'll be staying an outsider for a long time. His raven hair and big brown eyes won't get him much farther than where he is now.

While Professor Rowan is trying to teach, the three girls are having their own conversation. "I hate Gary so unbelievably much," Elesa rolls her eyes at his stupid comments on anything the teacher says.

"No it's L O V E," Skyla spells out, "You just don't know it yet."

"Haven't you learned anything from the movies Skyla makes us watch?" Iris questions.

"Nope," Elesa replies and tries to focus on the lesson. And after a few moments of no gossip she gets into the lesson and RIIIIING.

"See you guys tomorrow," Professor Rowan sighs and shuts off the projector.

"I did not get a thing from that lesson," Elesa sighs once they get out of the classroom and start walking towards the outside battlefield.

"I mean, you were talking the whole time," Iris stifles a giggle.

"Yea whatever," Elesa rolls her eyes. "Definitely my fault."

"I'm actually pretty curious about this Ash dude," Skyla says once getting outside.

"I hope he pummels Gary into the ground," Elesa states.

"Rooting for Ash..." Iris trails off. "I didn't think you were one for love at first sight."

"Not not like that!" Elesa yells and grabs everybody's attention.

"Miss Elesa we're starting," Professor Kukui, the teacher for Pokémon battling, sighs.

"Sorry," Elesa bows.

"Okay so since it's the first day of school I think we should just battle for fun with whoever you want," He gets right back to today's plan.

"Hey Prof I was thinking me and Ash should have a battle in front of everyone since he's new to the school," Gary suggests.

"Is that alright with you Ash?" Professor Kukui asks.

"Oh yea," Ash smirks.

"Everyone crowd around this field to watch the battle," Professor Kukui orders then takes his position in the middle of the field. "This will be a one on one single battle! Whoever lasts the longest wind bragging rights because we aren't allowed to gamble anymore on school grounds.

"Let's go Pikachu," Ash says.

"Let's go Eevee," Gary smirks and calls out the small brown and genetically unstable fox Pokémon.

"Battle begin!" The teacher yells.

"Eevee get in there with quick attack!" Gary orders.

"Freeze and electrify!" Ash smirks...

The one sided battle didn't continue for much longer. Ash played with Gary for a bit before letting Pikachu finish the job. A complete popularity shock runs through the school as news about Ash beating one of the best battlers spreads.

Iris and Skyla are alone walking through the halls since Elesa left for some reason. They are talking about Ash like most of the school right now but not about his popularity boost and rise above others. "I'm starting to think Ash would be better for Elesa," Skyla states.

"Why the sudden change?" Iris asks.

"Well his personality and lack of being an ass for Elesa much better than Gary," She states. "Also I haven't seen Elesa watch someone battle like that. She looked at him more than the electric type Pokémon battling. An electric type!"

"She's falling for him," Iris jokes.

And at that moment they pass and happen to notice a room with two teenagers standing mere inches from one another. Both are gazing into each other's eyes while subconsciously moving closer.

"You mean 'fell' completely for him," Skyla crosses her arms with an approving look.
