Season Two finale part 1 everypony! The next part will be more exciting!

....

The sun shone down bright and warm on the Mane 7 while they had a nice picnic without any conflicts for once. Malibu laid back, alicorn wings spread out in content, giving a soft sigh. This sun truly was a gargoyle's dream come true.

Rarity gave a sigh. "It is gorgeous out! Just gorgeous!" She complimented while Malibu took a drink of his apple cider and ate a sandwich. "You bet, Rar. Absolutely nothing can ruin this!"

He was wrong; as Malibu heard a familiar baby dragon come running in a panicked way, looking quite out of breath, holding a letter in his hand, wondering what could be up. "Twi...light! Mal...ibu! I... have... lemme just..." He winds up giving a huge burp, sending out a second letter.

Twilight picked it up to read. "Dear Twilight, and son, I am sure you two are as excited as I am about the upcoming wedding in Canterlot."

Malibu's eyes widened. A wedding? He'd never been to one. Twilight continued. "I'll be presiding over the ceremony, but would very much like you and your friends to help with the preparations for this wonderful occasion. Fluttershy, I would like you and your songbird choir to provide the music."

Flutter gasped, looking joyful. "Oh my goodness! What an honor!" She squeaked, sounding rather adorable to Malibu.

"Pinkie Pie, I can think of no one more qualified than you to host the reception,"Twilight read on, causing Pinkie Pie to start cheering and do a flip in the air. Of course it would be Pinkie doing it since she was the ultimate party pony.

"Applejack, you will be in charge of the catering for the reception," Twilight then read, making Applejack look rather pleased and happy about that. "Well, color me pleased as punch!" Malibu hoof bumped her shoulder. "And with your cooking, you'll be the best caterer. Please have cider there!" He pleaded, AJ laughing, nodding to his request.

"Rainbow Dash..." Twilight started while Malibu saw his marefriend give a bored yawn. "...I would very much appreciated it if you could perform a sonic rainboom as the bride and groom complete their 'I dos'." That got Rainbow pretty stoked up.

"Yesss!" She cheered, Malibu rolling his eyes. "Only you would find a wedding 20% cooler if you were doing a rainboom," He said jokingly, causing her to laugh embarrassedly.

"Rarity, you will be responsible for designing the dresses for the bride and her bridesmaids," Twilight read, causing Rarity to have a major excitement freakout. "Princess Celestia wants me to— wedding dress? F-for a Canterlot wedding?!" She then swooned right there onto the grass, still smiling.

"And as for you Twilight and Malibu, you two will be playing the most important role of all: Making sure that everything goes as planned. See you all very soon. Yours, Princess Celestia." She finished, though was confused, looking over the rest of the parchment. "But I don't understand. Who is getting married?"

Spike handed the other letter he had before. "Wait! I, uh, was probably supposed to give you this one first," He said guiltily. Rolling her eyes Twilight opened up the letter and read aloud.

"Princess Celestia cordially invites you to the wedding of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and..." she gave the loudest gasp Malibu heard Twilight make yet, her face filled with disbelief. "MY BROTHER?!"

Malibu himself was just as shocked. Shining Armor? Was getting married? Why weren't they told weeks before the actual day? He knew he was gonna have to talk to him. Applejack gave Twilight a hoofshake of congratulations. "Your brother's gettin' married? Congratulations, Twilight! That's great news!"

The former gargoyle could see how mad Twilight was and rightfully so. "Yeah. Greatnews. That I just got from a wedding invitation! Not from my brother, but from a piece of paper! Thanks a lot, Shining Armor. I mean really, he couldn't tell me personally?" She lifted up a sandwich, pretending it was her brother. "Hey, Twilight, Malibu, just thought you should know I'm making a really big decision that changes everything. Oh, never mind, you'll hear about it when you get the invitation!"

The others glanced at each other in concern, while Twilight used her normal voice again. "And Princess Mi Amore Cadenza? Who in the hoof is that?" She snarled, giving off some snorting noises.

Malibu went up to her. "Hey, take it easy there, just breathe," He advised, Twilight looking sadly up at him. "Sorry," She replied sadly now instead of in anger. "It's just that, you remember how close me and Shining Armor were." Malibu nodded. "And he's my BBBFF!" Twilight added in, much to her other friends' confusion. "Big Brother, Best Friend Forever?" Twilight explained.

"Ohhh!" The other 5 then said, understanding now. Twilight lowered her head while walking away a little. "Before we came here and learned the importance of friendship, Shining Armor was the only pony besides Malibu I ever really accepted as a friend." Soon she began to sing, her eyes filled with sadness from her memories.

"When I was just a filly, I found it rather silly

To see how many other ponies I could meet

I had my books to read, didn't know that I would ever need

Other ponies to make my life complete

But there was one colt that I cared for

I knew he would be there for me

My big brother, best friend forever!

Like two peas in a pod, we did everything together

He taught me how to fly a kite (Best friend forever!)

We never had a single fight (We did everything together!)

We shared our hopes, we shared our dreams

I miss him more than I realized

It seems..."

Soon the other 5, and Malibu all joined in with the song to help Twilight try to feel better.

"Your big brother, best friend forever

Like two peas in a pod, you did everything together!"

Twilight continued to gaze out at Canterlot in the distance as she came to finish her song.

"And though he's, oh, so far away

I hoped that he would stay

My big brother best friend

Forever...

Forever..."

As she ended, Malibu saw some tears fall down her cheeks, going over and handing a handkerchief, a sympathetic smile on his face. "I'm sure things'll work out somehow, Twi. Remember he's like a brother to me, too." Twilight wiped her eyes then, smiling back. "Thanks. And I mean, they don't let just anypony be captain of the Royal Guard," She added in.

Rarity's eyes twitched from hearing it. "So let me get this straight. We're helping out with the wedding of not only a princess, but a captain of the Royal Guard?!" She literally shrieked into Twilight's face.

"Guess we are," Twilight grumbled, pulling out a pillow for Rarity to faint on while the others complimented in excitement about what it will be like at the wedding, eventually going to get ready at the train station to leave for Canterlot, Malibu nervous about seeing Shining Armor again.

Twilight herself was still stressed about him along the way, the others trying to settle her down but she wouldn't let herself get over it, making Malibu all the more anxious.

"We're here! We're here!" Squealed Pinkie suddenly, Malibu spotting his old home of Canterlot. But when they went through the gates Malibu gasped softly from the feeling of a shield passing through his body, wondering why they even needed one at all.

The gang all poked their heads out the window upon arrival; seeing more guards than usual. "Whoa, what's with all the guards?" Dash asked. Malibu agreed. "Kinda excessive, isn't it?" He pondered.

"I'm sure they're just taking the necessary precautions. Royal weddings do bring out the strangest ponies." Rarity explained, right as Pinkie Pie suddenly sneezed confetti.

Don't question it... don't question it... Malibu told himself silently, eyeing Pinkie with a questionable look while they ventured further in. "Now let's get going! We've got work to do!" Rarity pestered.

"And you got a big brother to go congratulate!" Applejack said cheerfully, Twilight still frowning. Malibu followed her close behind.

"Yeah. Congratulate. And then give him a piece of my mind!" Twilight stated, causing the two guards she and Malibu passed to look somewhat frightened of her.

Upon entering the courtyard of the castle, Malibu spotted Shining Armor up there, looking like he was living his dream of being a Captain for sure, as he felt happy to see him again.

"I've got something to say to you, mister!" Twilight snapped heatedly, Malibu staying back a little as the guards showed their spears. Shining had them stand down so he could greet his sister. "Twily! And Malibu!"

Malibu rushed over and gave Shining Armor a hug. "Great to see you again!" He said happily, Shining hugging him back though Twilight glared darkly. "How dare you not tell us in person that you were getting married? I'm your sister for pony's sake!" She snapped.

Shining Armor definitely looked guilty though he tried not to. "It's... not my fault. Princess Celestia has requested a major increase in security. Didn't you see all the guards at the train station?"

Malibu attempted to talk but Twilight was still filled with heated anger. "Yeah, there's a big wedding coming up! Maybe you've heard about it?" She said sarcastically."

"Twilight, easy," Malibu said, doing his best to be calm about it all. "It has nothing to do with the wedding." Shining then said. "A threat has been made against Canterlot."

Twilight and Malibu looked at each other in small worry. "Do you know from who?" Malibu asked, wondering who besides Discord and Nightmare Moon would want to attack his old home.

Shining Armor narrowed his eyes. "We don't know who's responsible for it, but, your mom asked that I provide additional protection. This, you need to see." He said, lighting up his horn, shooting out the protection spell to add an extra coating on the shield. But it resulted into him getting a small headache, Shining rubbing his head.

"The burden of keeping Canterlot safe and secure rests squarely on my shoulders. Staying focused on the task at hand has been my top priority." Shining Armor then finished. But from those words, Malibu felt slightly upset that his mom hadn't asked him to do it.

"I suppose we can understand that, but... why didn't mom asked me to do it?" He then complained. Shining Armor sadly smiled at him.

"Mostly your mom didn't want you to wear down your magic, and wanted to trust in the guard's leader to do it instead," He said gently.

Twilight however wasn't done. "Still... how could you not tell us something as important as your wedding? Are we not that important to you anymore?"

Shining Armor's ears lowered, before sighing. "I really am sorry for not telling you sooner. But maybe to make up for it; you can be my best mare. And Malibu can be my best stallion," He then invited, a small smile coming up.

That really stunned Malibu in surprise. "You want us to be a part of your wedding party?" He yelped, having never been in one before. Even Twilight's eyes were amazed at that, hugging him now. "We'd be honored!" Though next she shoved him away. "But we're still pretty ticked you're marrying somepony I don't even know! When did you even meet this 'Princess Mi Amore Cadenza'?"

For a moment there, Malibu thought about the name. It just felt all too familiar. "Twilight, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza is Cadence, your old foalsitter," Shining Armor then announced, Malibu gasping in disbelief.

"You for real? You're marrying my aunt Cadence?" He yelped, staring and feeling stunned. Shining Armor shrugged, turning red. "Uh, yeah."

Twilight's eyes shone now that she actually knew who was marrying her brother. "That's so great! And who else can spread love wherever they go? I only know of one! And you're marrying her!" She began to bounce around her brother playfully, Malibu watching, happiness bubbling in his heart.

But then he turned, seeing a new pony there with them that just happened to be Cadence. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important!" She said rather bossily but Malibu turned a blind eye as he ran to hug her. "Aunt Cadence! I'm happy to see you again!"

Cadence lightly pushed him off, dusting herself. "Sure. No hugging, alright?" She asked. Malibu's face faltered a little bit, walking backwards from her. Why didn't Cadence recognize him?

Twilight attempted now to be recognized. "Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake! Clap your hooves and do a little shake!" She said happily, shaking her flank upward, causing Cadence to stare in confusion. "What are you doing?"

Malibu's heart sank further from that. "But... Aunt, it's us! Me and Twilight!" He protested. Cadence rolled her eyes. "Uhuh." She went to give Shining Armor a loving hug.

"I've gotta get back to my station now guys. But Cadence will be checking in with all of you to see how things are going. I think I speak for both of us when I say we couldn't be more excited to have you here. Right dear?" Shining Armor asked his fiancee.

But for some weird reason, Cadence smiled, but it wasn't... normal. It looked evil almost. "Absolutely..." She replied in a subtle mocking manner that caused Malibu to feel unnerved around Cadence when he knew he shouldn't. What had happened to her while they were gone?

"I'll let you get to it," Shining said while he walked off, Cadence turning around, giving Malibu somewhat of an obsessed look that creeped him out more, tail curled in between his legs.

He and Twilight both looked at one another in sadness at what had happened. Malibu sighed slightly, shaking his head after the couple left. "C'mon, Twi. Let's just go check on the others. We got a job to do," Malibu suggested, tugging on Twilight's hoof and getting her to come with him.

....

In the bakery Applejack was pretty much obsessed with her cooking, having made a lot of food that was somewhat making Malibu's stomach growl, but he was still in a saddened mood from what happened earlier.

Applejack put the icing on the wedding cake which was huge. "Cake, check!" She said, Twilight checking it off, while crossing her hooves in annoyance.

"Ice sculpture, check?" Applejack added, finishing up said sculpture. Malibu was confused. When was an ice sculpture needed for a wedding, one he'd never been to?

AJ then smiled, pulling out two apple fritters. "Best darned bite-sized apple fritters you two have ever tasted?"

Malibu and Twilight both ate them, the fritter slightly cheering him up. "Check," He said, Twilight crossing off the checklist.

Though at one point he caught Spike playing with the cake toppings. "I do! Do you? I do!" He made the minifigures kiss each other rather creepily until Malibu took them away, glaring. He clearly couldn't stomach the kissing. Spike laughed nervously as Cadence suddenly appeared in the doorway, making him jump.

"Hiya, Princess!" Applejack greeted over cheerfully. Cadence glared. "Please, call me 'Princess Mi Amore Cadenza'!" She snipped, making Malibu roll his eyes. A bit stuck up much now?

AJ agreed with that. "Hiya, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza! You come to check out what's on the menu for your big day?" Cadence grinned nervously. "I have!" She said, though frowning after Applejack turned her back.

Malibu watched this scene carefully, seeing Cadence lift up a fritter with her magic. But instead of the usual blue aura he was used to; it was a strange green color. That threw him off too.

Cadence swallowed it, still cringing. "Eh, delicious! I... love love love them!" She said in a more than revealing fake voice. Malibu's belly filled with disgust even further. She clearly didn't... he thought darkly. "Aw, shucks! Why don't you take a few with you to go?" Applejack asked, handing her a bag.

The pink alicorn took it up in her mouth. "Ah know how you brides can be. So busy you forget to get a little somethin' in your belly." Malibu and Twilight both watched seeing that when Cadence was about to leave; she threw the bag into the trash.

Twilight gasped aloud, as did Malibu. Even he never wanted to throw away Applejack's cooking! That was a big insult to her and her family in general!

"AJ, did you see what she..." Malibu tried to ask, but his friend was too blind to her baking to notice, making the two groan at her ignorance, going to their next project which was the dresses.

Before Cadence arrived, Twilight and Malibu both sprouted off to Rarity about their new hate for the bride. "Oh, you should've seen how she acted back there! I don't know when she changed but she changed!" Twilight then put on an act. "Please, call me Princess Mi Amore Cadenza!"

Malibu cringed when seeing Cadence arrive with her bridesmaids. "Uh, Twi, Twi," He stuttered, causing her to jump. "Did I hear somepony call my name?" Cadence asked, Rarity zipping right up to her.

"Your highness! Let me just start by saying what an honor it is to play a role in such a momentous occasion!" She said rather excitedly.

Cadence replied in her usual manner. "Is my dress ready?"

Rarity blinked. "Oh, yes, of course!" She revealed the pretty bride dress. Malibu had never seen one before and it looked rather nice. "Um, I've been working on it ever since I was given the assignment. And I think, you will be pleased with the result!" She beamed proudly.

Cadence shook her head. "I was hoping for something with more beading and a longer train," She complained. Rarity wrote it down. "Oh, yes, of course!"

She also looked over the bridesmaid dresses for Minuette, Lemon Hearts and Lyra. "And those should be a different color!" Cadence ordered. The three bridesmaids complimented them but got the evil eye from the bride, making them look down in fear.

Malibu glared again. The Cadence he knew didn't abuse other ponies like this. "Make them a different color!" Cadence left after that, her bridesmaids following quickly behind.

"Gee, maybe her name should be 'Princess Demandypants'!" Twilight grumbled, making Malibu laugh a little from her choice of words but knew this was no laughing matter.

Finally it was Pinkie's turn who had set up the party rather almost childish looking in Malibu's eyes. "I think this reception is gonna be perfect! Don't you?" Squealed Pinkie. Cadence fake smiled. "Perfect! If we were celebrating a 6 year old's birthday party..." she muttered then under her breath, but not out of earshot of Malibu and Twilight who hid behind a pillar, watching the whole thing. Pinkie Pie sadly was blind from the insult Cadence just did.

...

That night, the Mane 7 and Spike sat down for dinner and punch, Malibu knowing they had to tell the others about Cadence's attitude.

"Bet I can guess what you're all thinking! Cadence is the absolute worst bride to be ever!" Twilight snapped, slamming down her drink on the table. "Who, me?" Spike voice acted with the cake topper, Applejack frowning. "Spike! That goes on the cake!"

Malibu saw how the others reacted in a most surprised way. "Whatever are you talking about, Twilight? Cadence is an absolute gem!" Rarity praised.

"Are you for real?! She's demanding! That's why!" Malibu growled, slamming his hooves on the table. Rarity sipped her drink. "Well of course she was, darling. Why wouldn't she expect the very best on her wedding day?"

That made the young former gargoyle groan, turning to Applejack. "AJ, did you know that after she said she loved your hors d'oeuvres, she threw them in the freaking trash?!" He asked, eyes glowing a little. Applejack still smiled. "Aw, she was probably just tryin' to spare mah feelings."

Twilight gritted her teeth. "No... she was just being fake and totally insincere!"

Fluttershy raised a hoof however. "She did raise her voice at one of my birds during rehearsal," she pointed out.

Malibu nodded triumphantly. "You see, if that's not rude, than I'm Discord!"

"But, he was singing really off-key," Fluttershy added, holding up said bird that gave a loud screech, grating Malibu's ear drums.

Twilight shook her head. "Pinkie Pie, you had to have notice how Cadence treated—." But she was thrown off by her and Spike playing with the toppers again, Malibu feeling his face turning green a little.

"Rainbow Dash? You agree with us, right?" He pleaded, hoping his marefriend would be on his side. Dash stretched her wings, shaking her head no. "Sorry, Mal. I was too busy prepping for my sonic rainboom to pay much attention to the bride's 'bad attitude'."

Malibu's face dropped, anger rising slowly in his belly while Twilight showed it more than him. How blind were they?!

"The princess is about to get married darlings. I'm sure any negative behavior she might be displaying is simply the result of nerves."

Twilight now stomped one of her hooves on the table. "And we're sure it's the result of being an awful pony who doesn't deserve to even know Shining Armor let alone marry him!"

Malibu almost agreed on that, but what Twilight said, didn't quite feel the right way to handle it. AJ pointed it out too. "You think maybe you're bein' just a tiny bit possessive of your brother?" She asked, the others nodding.

That pushed the wrong buttons for Twilight. "I'm not being possessive! And I'm not taking it out on Cadence! You're all just too caught up in your wedding planning to notice that maybe there shouldn't even be a wedding!" She stormed, slamming the table once more and walking away in anger.

Malibu's ears were fallen, as he decided to now run to Shining Armor's house before Twilight could get there, knocking on the door. He answered.

"Hey, Malibu. Oh. You alright?" He asked. Malibu swallowed. Should he tell? Shining Armor looked so happy. And he felt like Twilight couldn't be the one to say it just in case.

"Not alright, actually. Me and Twilight think you're not making a very good—." He jumped when Cadence cleared her throat, showing up on the stairs.

She really likes to sneak up on ponies, doesn't she? Malibu asked in his head, watching Cadence suspiciously.

"Can I speak to you for a moment, dear? She asked, gesturing to another room. Shining Armor gave an apologetic grin. "Sorry, I'll see you after this." He went into the door with her.

Malibu narrowed his eyes right as the door to the outside opened again, and it was Twilight. She saw Malibu peeking in.

"Spying?" She said softly, Malibu gasping, shaking his head. He pointed carefully in.

From what they both saw; Cadence and Shining Armor were both arguing about what he was wearing. "And I think I should wear it!"

Cadence was pretty fumed. "Are you disagreeing with me?" Malibu's heart raced from those words which felt rather condescending.

"I guess I am— agh!" Shining Armor suddenly had a migraine, making him cringe up in pain. Her face then turned sympathetic.

"Oh dear, are you getting another one of your headaches?" She crooned, horn lighting up green again. Her spell hit Shining Armor in the forehead, causing his eyes to turn green and spin around.

No... freaking... way! Who the heck is she?!Malibu screamed silently in outrage, eyes widening in horror at the sight of this mind control it looked like. Twilight was just as horrified.

"Feeling better?" Cadence said in her syrupy tone, Shining Armor nodding while his eyes were still green. Malibu felt chills now in his stomach, realizing how dangerous now this new Cadence was.

"Twilight, we gotta get out of here and you have to warn the others!" Whispered Malibu, dragging Twilight away with her, not wanting this weird version of Cadence to see them any further.

Twilight panted while they run. "What are we gonna do? She's now revealed to be downright evil!" She said in a scared way.

"We wait until the right time to expose her true colors during the rehearsal tomorrow before any vows are made. It may be our only chance!" Malibu said.

Twilight agreed on that. "Alright, see you tomorrow. And be safe," She said softly, concern in her eyes. Malibu smiled assuredly at her, nodding, going off back to his room.

Before he could get there however, he heard a voice. "Well... I see you are close to unveiling my plans." Malibu's fur went up, turning to see Cadence there somehow, her eyes flashing evilly.

He backed away into a house wall. "Back off! Who are you?! I will show everypony what you really are!" Malibu demanded bravely. Cadence merely moved closer, a flirting look in her eyes.

"You know I can't have you do that." She crooned, her eyes flickering from Cadence's to more sinister reptilian looking ones.

Malibu's horn lit up further, but was too late as he was surrounded by green flames. Utter fear shone in his eyes when trying to run out but the magic kept him there, wondering where his mom was at all. He looked back up at the fake Cadence, her smile now showing evilly on her face.

"See you soon, handsome," She purred, laughing sickeningly while Malibu whimpered, the spell making him all sleepy and then soon he fainted, mind going unconscious, hoping Twilight will be able to carry on the plan without him, she herself having no idea of Malibu being captured now.

....

A small hiatus will come after part 2, which will introduce a major character connected to Malibu.
