Joon-Jae walked up to Jenny as she rested in her wheelchair, accompanied by the security guard and felt relieved, seeing her awake at the hospital entrance was a good thing. His heart had almost stopped when she had fainted in court and he felt the guilt personally.

She looked up at him, squinting against the light, laughing. "I can never see your face!" Her face radiated happiness. The laughter and her smile felt like a beautiful spear flying deep into his soul.

His heart twisted painfully bringing tears close to the surface, nearly breaking his tightly controlled mask. Unconsciously, he began to smile at himself. The knot in his chest gradually disappeared and was replaced by a warm feeling.

Bending down, his hand moved almost without his knowledge to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. Her skin was soft and warm, and the scent of hospital and prison disinfectant clung to her body, almost blocking her own.

Her eyes closed as if to blink but they stayed shut. Slowly her face tilted to the side. He caught her head gently and settled her into the wheelchair more comfortably, the blanket holding her in place.

He knelt in front of the chair, holding onto the handrails for a moment, lost in emotion.

"Joon-Jae! Joon-Jae! Snap out of it!" His manager whispered, crouching at his shoulder.

"Oh, right. Is everything sorted out?" Joon-Jae stood and took the wheelchair handle that his manager held, unable to stop his overprotective action. Pushing Jenny's wheelchair to the car, while manager Do frowned. This situation was getting serious and there was nothing he could do about it.

Gathering Jenny into his arms, Joon-Jae lifted her into the car and arranged her body on the seat by the window. He folded the wheelchair and put it behind the seat, blocking the manager from entering as he sat next to the only person he could see.

Buckling the seat belt and shuffling his long legs into place, he tucked her more snugly into the light hospital blanket, his hand lingering on her shoulder.

The manager shook his head and closed the car door, getting in the front passenger seat instead, a new pair of security guards would meet them there later. After an uneventful drive, they arrived at the VIP car park with no issues.

"Manager Do? Can you give me a hand?" Joon-Jae asked, after setting up the wheelchair.

The manager held the chair while Joon-Jae carefully lifted Jenny's prone form. When she was settled to his satisfaction, he took the handles away from the manager and quickly strode forward, leaving Manager Do in momentary shock.

Sighing, manager Do followed. The driver locked up the car and joined them as they were all staying in the same hotel for the next few days, although not on the same floor as Joon-Jae and Ms Knight.

The suite manager Do booked, had the layout of a one-bedroom flat, containing a kitchen and living room as well as the usual bed and bathroom. Joon-Jae settled Jenny into the bed and tucked her in as if she was a small child.

"Mr Joon-Jae? The nurse will be here in an hour to set up the next drip, we have nothing scheduled until tomorrow afternoon. Let's just wait until the drip is finished, then we can check on her tomorrow." Manager Do touched Joon-Jae on the shoulder when he didn't answer.

"Oh, right, okay." He left Jenny and sat on the small sofa in the living room. The manager handed him a script for his latest drama, to read while they waited.

Occasionally Joon-Jae stood while scanning the writing, pretending to stretch while taking a peak in the bedroom to check on Jenny. Manager Do also tried not to notice. As long as Joon-Jae didn't cross the line he wouldn't have to inform his boss.

Someone knocked. It was the nurse. She did some basic checks and set up the drip, then sat by the bed for the half hour it would take to finish. Joon-Jae sat down in the other room and tried to read his script. Time slowed down for him as he couldn't concentrate.

Eventually, they had to leave as the drip was done, Joon-Jae with reluctant steps. His room was only next door but it felt like a thousand miles away to him.

Back in his room, he felt uneasy. Manager Do had Jenny's room card and it bothered him that another man had access to her room. He tried to dismiss that thought and reasoned that he should have the card as his manager's room was the floor below.

At this point, it was becoming more difficult to lie to himself. He even found that not only was he having an internal conflict but sometimes he talked out loud to himself. His actions and mental state were becoming unstable.

Joon-Jae looked in the mirror and noticed dark circles under his usually perfect eyes. This called for an intervention. Some of the latest products he was advertising, were stored in one of his travel cases and he needed them now.

Not one to panic in normal situations, he seemed to be completely shaken for unknown reasons. Random thoughts were verbalized under his breath as he frantically searched for the case. "Hmm, no. Maybe. It can't be. Where is it!" He finally tired himself out enough to think.

"It must be in Manager Do's room," Joon-Jae muttered. He would just get the eye bag cream and maybe one mask. He didn't need to check anything else but maybe he could convince Manager Do to pass him Jenny's room key.

He would feel much happier if his fan could be protected, it was nothing to do with trust. Joon-Jae convinced himself, it was about distance. Obviously, he was closer.

He quickly concealed his eye bags and checked his appearance before stepping out. He wasn't vain but he had his image to consider. Also, a thought pestered him deep down in his mind but not as deep as he thought, there was a fan he didn't want to disappoint.

Tomorrow he was picking Tan up from the pet hotel, she should be nicely recovered and back to normal. Maybe if Jenny was better, they could meet again if only to prove she was the rescuer and not the abuser. He felt that it was important to prove their relationship.

Mark had also given Jenny's real statement to the new police team. She had written everything down at the homestay before leaving for the police station. He wanted to be there in her defence, Jenny was just too nice a person to do all those horrible things.

He trusted her but he needed that hard proof so his other fans would understand. He was now a witness and he had CCTV footage to prove it. His team had also helped to find the evidence of the real perpetrator. Jenny's innocence would be proven very soon.

Joon-Jae strode out of his room, glancing at Jenny's door, he turned and stopped for a moment. His pause brought thoughts he had hidden back into the front of his mind. Was she alright? Should he break the door? No, she needed rest. He shook himself, he needed that key card.

Nothing wrong with a bit of internal conflict to brighten our day. We are back with Jenny in the next chapter, see you next week.
