Daisy covered her mouth as she yawned.

"You're earlier than usual, even your guest is struggling to stay awake," teased a middle-aged man as he noticed her presence after a few minutes they entered the bakery.

"She has to get through this sacrifice in order to taste the legendary bakery of this shop," said Gianluca cheerfully.

Daisy wondered if he was used to waking up so early. The moment they reached their destination, the bakery was basically opening. They were the first customers to show up in this empty place, even the chairs weren't removed from the top of the tables.

The morning light that entered through the display window of the store wasn't strong enough to illuminate the area.

"Legendary?" The man laughed. "Let's not exaggerate."

Gianluca smiled. "But it's the truth."

Because of his enthusiasm, Daisy couldn't wait to taste the specialties of this bakery. They must be amazing if Gianluca was praising them like that. From the sweet smell coming from the kitchen, Daisy could sense that he might be right.

He had been inviting her to this place for a few days as he wanted to introduce her to Italy's best cafe. A cafe that made bakeries from another world, according to him. Even though she accepted, she had been failing to wake up at five. Even with the alarm on she wasn't able to leave her fluffy bed. Today, Martina went to her room in order to make sure Daisy would wake up.

After a small chat they had with the manager of the cafe. He invited them to have a seat while they waited for those legendary bakeries.

Their table was close to the display window which had a painting of loaves of bread in a basket and had the mirrored words defining the name of the shop. Their chosen table was perfect as she could view the morning sun rising and the darkness disappearing. The lights of the street kept being dimmer and dimmer as the morning light was brightening the city.

The streets were starting to get busy as more people walked by her view and vehicles filled the air with their honks.

Daisy was a young woman who loved to sleep and only tried to wake up early when school forced her to. But she never knew that the morning scenery could be so peaceful and beautiful. She thought it wouldn't be bad to wake up early every day to admire the view.

As she didn't drop her gaze from the window as a waiter came to serve their drinks while he chatted with Gianluca, Daisy lost herself in her thoughts.

It had been almost a week since she had adjusted to the Spada's residence and the only members who she was able to socialize with were Marcello and Raffaele, but she couldn't find what would make them happy.

Raffaele seemed to enjoy studying medical science, throwing away her theory of him being forced to study this course against his will. Marcello looked like a lively person who enjoyed life. Still, she wondered if he had a problem with Laura. She still had to find a way for him to open up about that matter.

Manuele on the other hand, whenever they crossed paths, he was never serious, and she noticed that he was a playboy. Despite him chasing Martina and teasing Daisy, he was always with a different guest whenever he went out. With all the money he had, Daisy thought he wouldn't need any help from her.

Federico? Even though they sort of introduced themselves that day, he hasn't been open with her since then. She was either invisible to him or annoying when she attempted getting closer to him.

"He's just shy," said Gianluca, having a sip of his coffee.

"Shy," Daisy repeated with a quick laugh.

There's no way that guy was shy, at least his looks and the attitude towards me say otherwise.

"He might look tough, but Fede is a shy little man," said Gianluca, having another sip. "Although his shyness can go too far, turning him into a Fedemeano."

Daisy tilted her head a little, frowning.

"But he's Federico," she said.

"It's funny if you play with his name via texts." Gianluca winked.

Daisy only gazed at him, blinking a few times.

"He's getting used to the fact that there's a stranger living with us," he continued. "Give him a few weeks and he'll open up."

"If you say so," said Daisy with doubt in her tone.

A waitress appeared before them, serving the slices of golden-brown bread. She also served cheese and jam to give more taste to the already tasty looking bread. The warm smell of freshly baked bakery watered Daisy's mouth.

"Have you met Angelo yet?" asked Gianluca as the waitress left their table with a smile.

"Angelo?" asked Daisy, finding that name familiar. "Who's that?"

"Guess the lazy kid didn't even get out of his room yet, for you not to have seen him." He sighed with worry. "He's our little brother."

"I see, well to be fair he isn't the only one I haven't met yet," said Daisy, taking a bite from one of the slices of bread. "You're right. This bread tastes good."

She was shocked with the taste of it, a mix of sweet and salty. The enjoyment could be coming from the advantage of it being warm but still, it had an addictive taste. She had another bite.

"Right?" Gianluca smiled with pride. "I made sure our restaurants provide bread from here. It's my proudest choice since it has increased more clients."

Daisy gazed at him all curious.

"I thought Mr. Pietro was the one handling the company." She had another slice of bread.

It was so tasty that she didn't feel the need to add jam or cheese on it.

"He is," he replied, "but as a potential president, I have to show that I'm worthy of that title."

"Potential? " Daisy raised a brow.

Usually, the eldest child was always chosen to be the next in line to handle the family business. She heard Raffaele wasn't interested in that since he wanted to be a doctor which left Gianluca as the obvious next choice.

"Yeah," he said, his voice calm. "I'm not the only one competing for that position."

"But," said Daisy thoughtfully, "as the second son isn't it your right to take over the company?"

His hazel eyes focused on Daisy playfully, his smile never leaving his lips.

"That was a long time ago," he said. "In order to avoid unfairness our adorable grandma decided to make us compete. We have to earn the right to the company."

"That sounds familiar," said Daisy quietly, ignoring his sarcasm.

Their situation was kind of the same as her, the difference being that the ones demanding a way to earn her crown were actually members of a council. Though, she thought what their grandmother was doing was right. It wasn't fair to earn the most prestigious position just because that person was born first.

"Well, at least this time she's not wrong and everyone agreed with her," said Gianluca as if he read her thoughts and agreed with her. "At least some of us did."

Daisy's brows rose. "Has she been wrong before?"

"Hm." Gianluca rubbed his jaw. "Let's just say that she hasn't been friendly with us, therefore she's been wrong."

Daisy frowned and he smiled playfully. She looked away quickly. There was something with this family's smile that caught her heart off guard.

"I think you'll make it," she said.

"You think so?" He wondered.

Daisy nodded.

"Out of all the competitors, you and Raffaele are the only ones that have more responsibility," she said, gaining the courage to look back at him. "The others would take the company to bankruptcy, at least Manuele and Federico would."

Gianluca burst into a laughter as if Daisy told him the best joke ever. Despite him not taking her words seriously, she couldn't see those two running a company.

Manuele for his playboy attitude would easily be tricked by a smart woman. Federico, though, she still had to know him better, based on his attitude, the communication between him and the executives would be full of misunderstandings.

"They're just acting their age," said Gianluca, recovering his breath. "I'm sure there will be a time, they'll get serious so I can't let my guard down."

Daisy's eyes widened as something popped up in her mind.

"Is being the heir of the company what you really want?" she asked, her eyes shining with hope.

It was a chance to finally start helping out, even though it would be unfair to others.

"Yeah," he said, his voice quiet. "I just want my old man to have a break. He's been through a lot and as the second son, I want him to retire knowing that the company is in good hands."

Daisy gazed at him with surprise in her eyes. The coincidence that they had so much in common was amazing. It was as if she was seeing herself in him. She wanted to be a queen to give her grandmother a deserved break.

"So, you're doing this for the sake of your father," she said with a warm smile. "How honorable."

"With the benefit of earning more money," teased Gianluca.

Daisy laughed, hoping that she would succeed in helping him out with his true happiness.
