(Normal pov)

Hiccup refused to fall asleep, he knew what he saw, and something told him that these... Feather People will attack them. So the young Viking was sitting next to a fire to keep the cold at bay, Toothless approached his rider and curled up next to him, Hiccup smiled lightly and stroked Toothless's head gently. 

::You're going to wear yourself out if you don't sleep my friend::

Toothless purred, Hiccup snorted lightly and replied back. "I'm fine. I want to be ready in case the natives of these lands attack." Before Toothless could speak, a dart whistled through the air and struck Toothless in the neck, causing the Night Fury to roar out in surprise, Hiccup then saw Toothless drop. 

"TOOTHLESS!!"

Before Hiccup could call for help, a dart stuck him in the neck too, he groaned in pain as he pulled the dart out, then his vision became blurry and then he fell on the sand, as his eyes were drifting shut, he saw Feather people approach him, then his vision went completely black. 

(Unknown location)

Hiccup groaned as his head throbbed in pain as the paralysis of the dart finally wore off, he looked around to see he was cuffed, he tried to break free, but even with his draconic abilities, he couldn't break free. 

"You cannot keep me here!! YOU HEAR ME!!!" Hiccup roared out, he tugged against the chains with a violent ferocity, but to no avail. Hiccup said heavily in frustration, he looked around to see a Feather person at the entrance of the cell he was in. The person cocked their head to the side, Hiccup's pupils turned into slits as he snarled at his kidnapper. 

"Release me. NOW!!" Hiccup roared out, the Feather person though spoke a language Hiccup couldn't understand, he then saw two guards open the cell and what appeared to be the native chief approach him. The native chief looked at Hiccup from head to toe and then spoke to his guards, the guards took the cuffs of Hiccup but kept their weapons on the young Viking. 

"Come." 

The chieftain said, his Norse was lacking, but at least he spoke the language, Hiccup was grabbed by the two guards and dragged where the chief was going, Hiccup couldn't fight back if he could, the paralysis of the dart was still wearing off, but keeping his strength pinned down. 

The group were approaching a door and when they reached outside the jails, Hiccup's eyes widened and his mouth was gaped open in shock. Before him, chained to the ground everywhere were... Night Furies. Well, a sub species of the dragon, but what made these Fury class dragons different from Toothless was that they bird like wings, these dragons were white and had colorful wings, spines, scales and tails, they were all the same size as Toothless. However it seems these natives weren't friends of dragons, these Fury class dragons were all bloodied, bruised, and some of their delicate feathers were plucked out. 

The sight made Hiccup's blood boil.

Hiccup laid eyes on the chieftain of this foreign land, who turned to look Hiccup in the eye and raise an eyebrow. "You... have... Fury... too." The chief said, Hiccup saw Toothless down there being sniffed into oblivion by his species as Toothless was being dragged to be chained up as well, Hiccup then looked back into the chiefs eyes and glared at him. "Why did you kidnap me and my dragon?" He demanded, the chief however looked down at the people among the Fury dragons. 

The chieftain declared something that Hiccup couldn't understand, but all he all could see were homes that were made of stone, they were near a massive river bed, and he could lay eyes on massive pyramid like temples. When the chief finished speaking he ordered the guards that had Hiccup to come along, they dragged Hiccup across the dirt and the native Feather People were spitting insults and curses at Hiccup, even thought the Viking did not understand a word they were saying. 

The chieftain then pointed to Toothless's back, which had the saddle on it. "What... is... this?" The chief demanded, Hiccup looked at the saddle then back at the chief. "Uh... thats a saddle. I ride my dragon." The chieftains face twisted with disgust, believing peace with a dragon was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard, he then ordered his guards to bring Toothless to him so he could ride him, Hiccup however sensed this and spoke out. "Toothless is loyal to me. And me alone. I suggest you leave him alone or he'll rip apart your village!" Hiccup threatened, the chieftain backhanded Hiccup, the young Viking felt his cheek burn, but instead of keeping quite, the slap only made Hiccup angrier than he already was. "Touch me again? And I will tear you apart." Hiccup threatened again, the chieftain moved to slap Hiccup again, but a blast sent the chieftain back, his body smacked against a home and the sound of burning flesh was heard. 

Hiccup turned toward Toothless to see the Night Furies mouth open and smoke coming out of his maw, Hiccup took this opportunity to transform into his draconic form and rip the guards off of him, he then roared at the Feather People, they had shields and spears raised, they let out battle cries and attacked, Hiccup and Toothless however slaughtered them all without mercy. 

::NOBODY HURTS MY MASTER AND LIVES TO TELL THE TALE!!::

Toothless roared out as some of the villagers ran for their lives, thinking that they had driven them back, Hiccup transformed back into his human form and turned around to see the sub species of the Night Fury, they all had looks of fear in their eyes, Hiccup however raised his hands out. "No no, its alright. I won't hurt you." He cooed out, he extended his hand out to the nearest dragon, the Fury class dragon sniffed Hiccup's palm and looked to Toothless. 

The Fury class dragon then pressed its snout in Hiccup's palm, Hiccup chuckled in disbelief, however, before Hiccup could even register what happened, a volley of arrows descended on him and the Fury class dragons. Arrows pierced and killed many of the beautiful Furies, however those who recovered from the surprise attack used their winds to block the arrows. Then, an arrow struck Toothless across the eye, creating a nasty scar. 

::ARGH!!::

"TOOTHLESS!!"

Hiccup rushed to his dragons side and examined his wound, Toothless began murmuring nonsense in Hiccup's mind, the young Viking shook Toothless lightly. "Toothless? What was in that arrow?" He asked shakily, Toothless roared in pain as he wheezed out. 

::P-poison::

Hiccup's heart dropped in his stomach, this couldn't be happening. This was a nightmare! Hiccup lost Heather, he could not lose his best friend too! 

"W-what can I do?" Hiccup asked in fear, Toothless looked at his rider and gave him a gummy smile. 

::I-its been an honor meeting you H-Hiccup::

Hiccup shook his head furiously. "No. Don't you dare leave me yet Toothless. You're gonna make it! You're gonna mate with one of these beautiful Furies, have hatchlings and be a father. J-just hang on!" Hiccup held Toothless close, he placed hand over Toothless's wounded eye, he had yet to try his newest ability, he was now able to siphon out the deadliest of plagues, poisons and other life threatening substances of the body and remove it. 

Hiccup tried siphoning out the poison, however the attempt caused Toothless great pain, the dragon writhed and roared in pain, Hiccup mumbled an apology and held his best friend closer to him as he began sobbing. 

::H-Hiccup?::

"I'm here bud."

::Pr-romise me... something::

"Anything bud."

::T-take... care... of... m-my... species::

"I-I will bud. I will, I promise."

Toothless's heart suddenly flatlined and he wasn't breathing, Hiccup's eyes widened with shock, disbelief and panic. "No no no no no NO!!!" Hiccup screamed out as he pumped Toothless's chest to get his chest beating again, he tried siphoning out the poison once more, but nothing worked. "T-Toothless... please!!" Hiccup sobbed out, he tried everything humanly possible to save his dragon. 

He then screamed out in agony as he veins glowed with deep crimson, his eyes glowed as his draconic side emerged and was roaring out in pain, Hiccup squeezed his eyes shut and fired a massive plasma bolt where the arrows came from, the plasma bolt was mixed with crimson and purple, a massive explosion tore the forest apart and Hiccup could hear the screams of the Feather People being burned alive. 

Good. 

Hiccup then laid eyes on his motionless dragon, the young Viking held his dragon close as he continued to sob. Suddenly, the Night Fury roared back to life and hacking violently, Hiccup stumbled back and saw Toothless rush to the river and gulp down mouthfuls of water. 

::T-Thirsty! S-so t-th-hirsty!!::

Once Toothless had finished drinking large amounts of water, the Night Fury turned around to see the shocked face of Hiccup. 

::Uh... am I dead?::

In the blink of an eye, Hiccup tackled Toothless in a massive bear hug, the dragon yelped in surprise and could hear Hiccup sobbing with relief and joy in his chest. 

"Gods Toothless!! I-I thought I lost you bud!!" Hiccup sobbed out, Toothless warbled in assurance and nuzzled into Hiccup's embrace. Suddenly Toothless roared out as fired a plasma bolt, but instead of violet, his plasma was crimson red, and his green eyes were turning into yellow. 

::W-what's happening?!!::

Hiccup can hear the fear in his dragons voice, he siphoned out the poison! What else could be wrong? 

Toothless fired off several crimson plasma bolts in random directions; destroying everything in the blasts path, the Night Fury finally stopped moving and was breathing heavily. "Toothless?" Hiccup breathed out in fear, the Night Fury groaned in pain and exhaustion.

::W-whatever was... in that... poison... somehow also managed to... change my anatomy::

Toothless wheezed out, Hiccup sighed heavily, his heart was hammering in his chest, his fear skyrocketing and anger at boiling points. 

::It evolves dragons::

Hiccup turned around to see one of the Fury dragons approach him, it then cooed inside Hiccup's mind. 

::The Feather People mixed their poison, potions and other vile substances to transform dragons in these lands to evolve them. For us? We Furies were like your Night Fury, but when these humans came to these lands, they'd use those arrows on us and we'd drop for at least a day, the following day after we were hit with the arrows, our wings and tails resembled that of a bird and our violet plasma would turn into a different color. Similar to what is happening to your Night Fury::

Hiccup looked down at Toothless who was still huffing and puffing in exhaustion, the Viking turned back to the Fury and asked. "Will he survive? Has any of your species died off because of those arrows?" Hiccup needed to know, he couldn't bear the thought of losing Toothless. 

::They used these arrows on several other dragons within these lands too, unfortunately, they were killed the moment the poison entered their system. However, none of our kind have been killed by these arrows::

Hiccup sighed in relief. But perhaps the poison worked in different ways. The arrow cut Toothless's eye, and once the poison entered his system? It turned his eyes a fiery yellow and his plasma crimson. Hiccup would tend to Toothless's ever need and watch over him during the trip home. 

The possible death of his best friend caused something inside Hiccup to finally snap. He then turned to the Furies, he ordered them to gather their numbers and to join him, and to help him bring Toothless back to the ships. Once they'd enter the ships? Hiccup would order an immediate bombardment of the Feather People's lands. 

(Hiccup's pov)

::H-Hiccup?::

"I'm here bud, what do you need?"

Toothless writhing and whimpered in agony, it seems whatever else was on that arrow was spreading throughout Toothless's system, hopefully it wasn't more poison. 

::H-hungry::

I didn't need to be told twice, I quickly transformed into my draconic form and fired a massive blast into the river, fish came flying in the air, I quickly snatched several fish out of the air and flew toward the Furies who were carrying Toothless. 

"Here bud, eat." I urged, I brought the fish to his maw, he sniffed it and then slowly began to eat it, and then the next one, and the next. Toothless then burped lightly and soon passed out from exhaustion. "What else was in that arrow?" I murmured to myself, as my ships came into view, I could see my warriors and dragon riders preparing to fight. 

"HOLD!!" 

I roared out, once we landed, my Red Maw was shocked to see the pack of Furies, and Toothless in an injured state. The Ryttere teens rushed to my side and saw Toothless in such critical condition. 

"What happened?!" 

"Is Toothless alright?"

I shushed them and knelt down to Toothless. "Bud, we're gonna lift you up the ship, alright?" Toothless growled in understanding, I had several of my men help me load Toothless on board, and got him as comfortable as we could below deck, I wasn't going to leave my best friends side. 

::T-thank y-you f-fo-or being h-here fo-or me Hiccup::

I kissed Toothless's head and wrapped my arm around his head. "You'd do the same for me in a heartbeat bud. Just rest, I'll take care of you." I cooed out, I was was angry at myself, the Feather People could've killed the last known Night Fury, and perhaps... Toothless will die. If he does? I will unleash my wrath upon ALL my enemies. 

"Odin, please, don't take Toothless away from me." I murmured to myself as I hugged Toothless tighter, Toothless too nuzzled into my embrace, as we began the journey back home, and I prayed to all the gods in Asgard that Toothless would live to see another day. 

A/N: So Toothless doesn't die, but the poison caused him to evolve and it'll also make him very vulnerable at times, an the fact that the Feather People nearly killed his best friend finally pushes Hiccup over the edge. Stay tuned for another chapter
