 Adrien and Marinette's POV:

   Two years later.

Adrien sighed. Marinette wondered what troubled him, but did not ask. She was happy to be with him.  She knew he was the king, but none of that mattered. Not when she did not have to be alone anymore.

"Adri, is everything alright?" Marinette asked.

"Marinette, everything is splendid, my dear," Adrien replied.

He and Marinette were looking around outside his castle. It was a nice day and there was not a single rain cloud in sight. He felt it was perfect. Perfect for them. If only he could be sure she would ...He waits until her back is turned to him. He plucks a red rose off one of the bushes that grows on the castle's grounds and offers it to her. She takes it without turning around.

The King Adrien slowly bends down on one knee. He hopes he is doing this right. He holds out a hand to her and has the ring ready.  "Mari, My darling, bluebell, I was sad when we were parted and relieved when I found out after searching for you for so long. I am happy and I hope you are as well. I love you. Please accept this ring to show that you desire the same. Will you marry me and become my queen, darling, Marinette?"

Marinette turns around at his words. She feels tears of joy fall. She never knew that this day would come. She never thought it could happen to her. Yet, here it was before her eyes. "Yes, I will marry you and be the queen by your side, my dear, Adri," Marinette answered.

Adrien smiled and helped her with the ring.  He held her hand up and thought, my dear we will be together always. He loved her as long as he could remember and is sure she loved him for at least as long too.

The lovely couple did not see a stranger who stood outside the gate with a frown. Nor did they hear the stranger threaten to attack the castle, kidnap Marinette, and slay the king.

The alligators were hungry and waited for food. They snapped their jaws in anticipation of it. It was as if they stood attention for the next foolish person to charge the castle.

Adrien and Marinette celebrated their engagement. They did so with a feast and some white wine. Afterward, Adrien kissed Marinette before he returned to his chambers. He could hardly wait to make her his bride.  Marinette could hardly wait to have King Adrien as her husband.

Yes, all this was rather exciting.

The story continues in Chapter 48 The Attempt on Adrien's  Life and Failed Kidnapping of Marinette
