Ethos is a Greek work meaning "character." It is a written technique used to appeal to an audience or reader's ethics. It is an appeal to the author's authority and trustworthiness.

Pathos, meaning "suffering" or experience," is a written technique that appeals to a reader's emotions and ideals. The author writes to invoke the emotions of the audience.

An Ethos is a demonstration of credibility, and a Pathos is a demonstration of emotion.

That is how it works in Myriad.

For an organization as wide as Myriad, there must be a leader. But with people of different backgrounds and origins, how can a leader be chosen?

When Myriad was create, it was determined that there must be one leader capable of holding together the collective. A leader capable of reaching through borders and boundaries and keeping Myriad tied together. Someone capable of appealing to someone's emotions and understanding them.

The other leader would be one capable of upholding Myriad's greatest goal: defending the spirits of which the balance between the real and the unreal hinges upon. A leader with the skill and power that Myriad needs. A leader with skill.

One is chosen by the many, and the other is chosen by the one who previously held the title. Because only one who has touched the hearts of many should be picked by the many, and one who has to be the strongest can only be recognized by one of the same caliber.

The Ethos and Pathos of old were known by the names Zhang Lan and Lev Azarov. They were respected and loved, and when they were gone, a new period of Myriad was ushered in by the Ethos and Pathos of the present.
