"Stop!"

The police and young man were startled when Ash burst into the room, followed by a clueless Alain, trying to play it cool.

"Mister Tajiri", an officer said, "Why are you interrupting-"

"He is not guilty of the power cut"

He pulled the translator out of his pocket, watching for Clemont's look of realization.

"He was angered by me and stormed out of the building. He left this device behind and must have realized, and ran back in to get it. Additionally, how would he have bypassed the security? The power cut started from a technology hub. No one could just walk in"

Clemont and Alain had no idea what was going on, but the police seemed to start to understand.

"How would that explain the mass power cut?"

"...I don't know yet. I have an idea, but it's completely theoretical. The point is, this man is not guilty. I mean, really! Does he look like the kind of person who'd do that?"

Clemont was very confused when the room was suddenly looking at him.

"You're right. He's free to go"

Ash looked happy until the officer held is hand out.

"...If you let us in on your theory. This power cut wasn't a mistake, and we could use the ideas of the heir of a tech businessman"

Clemont took his invention and activated it. It had been on the whole time. Reading the conversations, he smiled.

"Okay, well...seconds before the power cut, I heard a scream. A very loud one. Is it possible that..."

He was stuck. He didn't know how to present a theory that didn't include him having a breakdown.

Then Clemont stood up.

"That the sound waves of the scream were somehow able to reach one of the power supplies, triggering it to deactivate? It sounds silly, but I hear they're working on sound-sensitive technology"

The officers looked to each other for a moment, then nodded.

"You're free to go"

Minutes later, Ash was handing Clemont the device, then watching him walk away.

"Wait-"

"Never speak to me again"

"But, no! Please-"

"The translator won't work from far away"

"Stop! You wouldn't have helped me back there if you didn't recognize me, too!"

Luckily Clemont was just close enough for the translator to pick up on those last words. He stopped as Ash caught up to him, but didn't turn around.

"Listen. I know why you're angry. I get it now. This man over here had the same dream, and when he told me, I was freaked out, too"

"What-"

"But it's alright. I'm just as confused. I was in a coma, I didn't know I was dreaming. And just now am I realizing how real it felt"

Hearing him made their heads drop, though they had to read his words first. He was right. The dream felt so real, it hurt knowing it wasn't.

"We can figure this out together. And after that, if you'd like, you'll never have to see me again. I can even get you your intern job back and stay away from you. But now, we really need each other"

Clemont reluctantly turned around and faced the boy.

"...You..."

Ash leaned closer, trying to listen to what he was saying.

"...You still have the same smile..."

Ash was relieved. He held the other's shoulders and laughed breathlessly.

"Yes...yes, I do. You see?"

"Yeah. Okay. I'll help you"

He sighed with relief as they pulled each into a hug, both smiling in the other's warm embrace.

Alain was smiling at the two of them until he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.

"This is great and all, but...", he started, getting their attention.

"My dad's here. In Japan. But he isn't on land"
