Jay's P.O.V.:

"Y-you really destroyed him?" I frowned.

"It was the only way I could prove my love for you once and for all." Nya replied. "Now there will be nothing left to stand in our way."

"Ha ha ha!" Nadakhan laughed. "I was expecting you two to fight each other but this is better than I expected." He kept laughing.

"Why would you do that?" I yelled.

"You left me no other choice. You wouldn't believe me." She shrugged.

"What are you whining about? You were gonna destroy him anyway." Nadakhan said.

"Well maybe I wanted to be the one to destroy him." I complained.

"Well, you took too long." Nya shrugged.

"I... I need to be alone..."

I ran off out of site and set down against the wall. My heart was beating a mile a minute and there was water dripping from my eyes. What was this weird feeling? I felt like I just lost my best friend, but he wasn't my friend, at least I didn't think he was.

My head kept spinning around trying to make sense of all this. Why was I doing this to those who I used to call my friends. Why aren't they my friends anymore? Was this all just a stupid mistake?
More importantly...

'What have I done?'

Kai's P.O.V.:

I was running as fast as I could, which wasn't very fast because of my leg, but that wasn't gonna stop me from saving my sister.

"Don't worry sis..." I caught my breath. "I'm coming for you..."

I kept moving until I saw someone running in the distance. I was so exhausted and dehydrated from running that all I could make out was a big black blob until it ran too fast and landed right on top of me."

"Ow! Hey! What's the big idea?"

As I pushed him off of me, I realized who it was.

"Cole?"

"Kai?"

Cole got off of me and helped me back up. He looked like he was in bad shape but it was good to know my friend was ok.

"Cole? What are you doing out here? Where's Nya? Did she change Jay back to normal?" I asked.

"I'll explain everything later." He looked down and noticed my leg. "Please tell me you didn't walk all the way here?"

"What else was I supposed to do? Just let my sister face this on her own?"

"Yes." Cole yelled. "She was one who helped me escape."

"Wait, you left her there alone?"

"She has a plan and she wants us to help. I'll explain everything once we get back to the others."

I nodded and we started making our way back to the hospital. It took us quite a while to get there because of my leg and Cole's arm, but we finally made it. Not back to the hospital, but to a bus stop that could take us where we needed to go.

We took the bus to the hospital and went back upstairs to see our friends. I was so exhausted I could hardly stand and Cole looked even worse.

"Kai? Cole?" Lloyd met us as we came off the elevator. "What happened to you guys?"

"You don't want to know." I frowned.

"Where's Nya?" Lloyd asked.

"She has a plan." Cole caught his breath. "She wants us to..."

Cole didn't finish his sentence before he collapsed on the floor. It was then I noticed the scars along his back. Jay must've done quite a number on him.

Kira came in from behind Lloyd and got some doctors to look at Cole.

Lloyd walked me back to my room where Skylor was waiting for me.

"Kai? Is that you?" She asked. Her vision had been slowly returning, but everything was still a blur to her.

"Yes, it's me." I answered as I sat down.

"I hadn't heard your voice for hours. Where were you?"

"I was trying to save Nya and Cole."

"Are they here too?"

"Cole was in bad shape so the doctors are with him now. Nya didn't come back with us, but she has a plan to stop Jay."

"What's her plan?"

"Cole was gonna tell us but he passed out. I'm really worried." I frowned.

Skylor reached around for my hand and I grabbed it. "He'll be ok."

"Thanks Skylor." I smiled and kissed her cheek.

Then Kira came into the room. "Hey guys, I hate to interrupt your moment but the doctors just gave us an update on Cole."

"How is he?" Skylor asked.

"He's awake and stable. His arm is sprained pretty bad, but it should heal in a few weeks." Kira told us.

"Can we see him?" I asked.

"Yeah, but he's pretty much out of it." Kira sighed. "It's probably better if just one of us goes in."

"She's right." Skylor said. "We don't want him to be overwhelmed."

"I won't be." Cole said leaning on the doorframe. He looked awful and he could barely stand.

"Cole, you should be resting." Kira said.

"I don't care. Nya sacrificed herself so I could get away and so we could get the tiger widow's venom to stop the djinn." Cole explained.

"Ok and where exactly is that?" I asked.

"I... don't know. Nya didn't tell me that part." He shrugged and started coughing.

"Cole, you're weak. You need to get back to bed and rest." Kira suggested.

"I can't. We need to get to Nya before Jay does." Cole said.

"Nya's clever. She can hold out for now." I said. "Or at least, I hope so."

I was honestly worried about my sister, but she's been in rough spots before and she's always pulled through. She's tough, smart, and able to do anything she sets her mind to. I know I shouldn't worry about her, but I guess that's just a part of being a big brother.

**********Flashback**********

Nya and I were playing hide and seek in the park. This was before our parents disappeared so they were watching us play.

"...8... 9... 10!" I finished counting. "Ready or not here I come!"

I started searching all over the park. Behind the slide, in the tunnels, behind the trees, but I couldn't find her. Ten minutes went by and still no sign of her. I was starting to get worried.

"Nya?" I called out for her. "Nya this isn't a game anymore."

"Kai! Help!" I heard someone shout.

I ran towards the sound, looked up and saw my sister in a tree clinging to a branch for dear life.

"Nya! Are you ok?" I asked her.

"I'm fine but I... I can't get down." She closed her eyes and held the branch tighter.

"Hang on sis, I'm coming."

Without a second thought, I grabbed onto the tree and braved through the branches until I got up to my sister. The branch she was holding onto was starting to crack and it definitely wasn't going to hold us both.

"Kai!" Nya shouted.

"It's ok sis, I'm right here." I got onto an adjacent branch and held out my hand. "Take my hand."

"I can't." She screamed as the branch cracked more. "I'm gonna fall."

"It's ok Nya. You can do anything." I said, still extending my hand. "I'm never gonna let anything happen to you."

Nya screamed as the branch started cracking more. Finally she took her hand off the branch and grabbed mine before it fell to the ground. I pulled her up and hugged her.

"Thanks big brother." Nya hugged me.

"Of course sis. I'd never let anything happen to you." I smiled.

********End of flashback********

Ever since that day I've been really protective of Nya. I got even more protective of her when our parents disappeared, and even after they came back into our lives. I know Nya is more than capable of taking care of herself, but that doesn't stop me from worrying about her.

"Kai?" Skylor said. "You seem quiet. Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I was just thinking about my sister." I frowned.

"Nya is the strongest person I know, she'll make it out of this." She said.

"I hope you're right."

Nya's P.O.V.:

After some convincing, I got Nadakhan to release me from the cage. I had gotten pretty good at outsmarting djinns.

I looked around and I found Jay sitting in a corner wiping the tears out of his eyes. I hated making him feel like that, but if everything goes to plan, he should be back to his old self soon.

"Jay." I shouted.

"No more Nadakhan! Not again! Not a..." he turned around. "Oh, it's you."

"Yeah, it's me." I looked at him. "Are you still crying about your little friend?"

"I'm not crying!" He yelled. "I... have something in my eye."

"Oh, I know. They're tears of joy because now that that little traitor isn't a problem anymore, you're so happy that you get to be with me." I hugged him, but he pushed me back.

"Stay away from me!"

"But I thought this is what you wanted." I frowned. "Cole is no longer in the picture and we can be together again."

"Well maybe I don't want to marry you now!"

"Oh yes you do." Nadakhan appeared from behind us.

"No! Not again! Not again!" Jay backed into a corner to get away from him. I had never seen him that scared before.

Nadakhan grabbed his whip and hit Jay with it. Jay suddenly turned stiff and his eyes turned that electric blue color again. It was like everything that made him Jay was whipped right out of him. I wanted to help, but if my plan was going to work, I couldn't blow my cover yet.

"How do you feel about her now?" Nadakhan laughed.

"Now that you killed Cole, you have proven that you can be my wife." Jay grabbed my hand. "And now that we're on the same side, we can destroy everyone who's ever stood in our way!"

"Yes Jay, we can take down all of them!" I laughed.

From what I understand, that whip was what made him control Jay, but he was really sad when he thought Cole was gone, so it seems to ware off after a while. That meant that the old Jay was still in there somewhere, I just have to wait till it wares off again and then get that whip away from Nadakhan. I just needed to hold out until I found a way to do that.

Later that night, Nadakhan gave me some food and sleeping quarters for the night. It was no five star hotel or anything but it was much better than a prison cell. Although the door locked on the outside so it still felt like one. Nadakhan was smart not to trust me, but not smart enough to outsmart me.

I heard someone walking outside and then he knocked on the door.

"Nya?" Jay said.

I didn't say anything back, because I was afraid Nadakhan would hear me. I set against the door and listened.

"I know I'm not supposed to talk to you, or open the door but I just don't know who else to talk to." Jay said sitting on the other side of the door. "I don't know who I am anymore. I don't know who's lying to me or who's saying the truth. The only thing I'm sure about is that I love you, and I can't remember why, but I feel like I always have. There's just so much I don't know about myself. Am I good? Am I evil? Am I just meant to be Nadakhan's slave forever? I just don't know."

"Hey what are you doing out here?" I heard Nadakhan's voice from the other side of the door.

"Oh uhh... just checking the locks making sure they were tightened." Jay hit the door twice. "See? Nice and secure. Ok good night."

I didn't hear anything happen after that so I assume Nadakhan actually fell for that, which was a miracle. After what Jay said, my heart felt overwhelmed with joy. He still loves me. That means that there was still hope left. All I have to do is get him to remember, but how? I just hope Cole and the others can get the venom, because if they can't I may have to rethink my plans, but now that I have Jay on my side, I might have a plan B.
