Ana's POV

I am gaping in awe and joy at the event unveiling before my eyes. Blinking to make sure I'm not dreaming, I see it is indeed happening as Senator Okwu is being cuffed while muttering profanities under his breath.

"I don't understand," Ike confesses, gawking at his stepfather being escorted in the location of the door by security personnel.

"The DNA result which was read out to you was forged," Glory grunts, eying the old man as he struggles to move. Her clothes implying she showed up directly from the office as she is rocking a blue pantsuit.

"What?" Mom raises a question, her eyes widening while Dad remains silent, watching the situation unfold.

"They are all lies!" Senator Okwu screams, his walking stick clattering to the floor.

"No, they are not," Helena contends, her face showing disgrace as she gapes at the doctor. "Not only that, you connived with these men and messed with Ike's blood sample before disposing so it can not be investigated."

"How can a respectful man of my standard do such a thing?" Senator Okwu counters in a question of his, turning to the DPO that directed the officer to cuff him. "DPO I didn't expect this of you. You should listen to me and not these children."

"I'm sorry distinguished Senator," he bows. "But there is solid evidence against you which led to this arrest. I have a warrant from the commissioner. If you want I can show you."

"I didn't ask for any bloody warrant!" Senator Okwu bellows in disdain. "So the commissioner is aware of this and he allowed you, idiots, to come here and treat me this way?"

"Oga abeg no deh make noise for our ear, just respect yourself follow dem deh go. [Sir please stop disturbing our ears with this your noise-making, and respectfully follow them out of here]" Maxwell lets out in irritation causing me and Oluchi to laugh, especially as we observe the expression he is wearing.

"Take a glimpse at what I'm talking about," Senator Okwu complains, gesturing to Maxwell. "Are these the kind of people you want to listen to and arrest me? This must be a silly misunderstanding."

"He is right though," Dad lets out, confusing us until he continues. "I'm referring to Maxwell. You have just been blabbing all sort of nonsense despite the fact you were warned that whatever you say or do will be used against you."

"Thank you," Oluchi applauds. "I was just about to say that."

"Sir, will you kindly keep walking?" The policeman urges.

"I won't until I receive a clear explanation," Senator Okwu declines, rooting his feet to the ground.

"Helena then, please go on with what you were explaining," I urge. "I want to see this man out of here as soon as possible."

"Please also elaborate on why Ken is also being apprehended, I'll like to know that too," Oluchi conveys, tongue in cheek.

"As I said, Ike's blood sample was tampered with. Ken is apprehended because he was in on the plan, which is why he showed up with such claims," Helena goes on to say.

"So Ana is innocent?" Ike raises a question.

"Of course she is," Oluchi snorts. "I wonder why you ever doubted her if you claim to love her as you say."

"How did you come to such a conclusion?" Nuel interviews and I bob my head to display my interest.

"Look Mr. Senator," the DPO speaks, stalling Helena from answering. "We have jobs and places to be, so comply with us immediately or we will be forced to apply force."

"I can't believe this is happening," Senator Okwu declares in defiance as he is pushed with the tip of the gun. "I will inform my lawyers about this. Daniel, help me give Barrister Ikenna a call."

"I will do no such thing," Ike refuses, clasping his arms behind his back.

"What?" He throws over his shoulder in query, gripping the doorway to avoid going any further.

"You heard me, stepfather," Ike grins. "Because I was behind it. Officer, take him away."

"Yes sir," the DPO salutes and with the other two security men haul him out of the place as his voice echoes through the walls of the hospital.

The rest shuffle out, Ken lending me an apologetic look which I turn my face away from, his constant backstabbing not allowing me to consider his mistake.

"Can someone tell me why Dad is being dragged out by the police?" Mirian inquires in a shrill voice as she storms in, her slender curves clad in a tin strapped yellow bodycon dress and cute black furry slippers.

"Who knows what he did this time," her mom sighs, being supported by Cecilia as she ambles in with her crutches holding up her weight that's encased in a blue blouse and a floor-length print red skirt.

"I'm serious mom, I want to know why," Mirian insists as Cecilia who is covered in a t-shirt styled ash gown that halts at her knees, and her feet tied in a pair of white sneakers stands behind their mother. "No matter what, he's still my father."

"Your father is arrested for tampering with the test result," Glory enlightens, resting her head on the wall.

"I don't get it," Cecilia shakes her head in confusion.

Oluchi explains in detail, making them astounded at the revelation.

"Truth be told, I'm not surprised," Cecilia shrugs. "If he could do bad things to his wife and stepson then there's no limit for his wickedness."

"That man is a beast," Ike's mother shudders as a tremor comes into her being.

"Helena you were about to say something," I recall, pointing to her.

"Yes, about how we came to this realization," Helena nods, adjusting the collar of her corporate white long-sleeved shirt that's pinned into the waistband of her black-fitting skirt. "It's going to be a long story."

"We will have to sit down for this one," Mirian snorts and she and Maxwell share a glimpse.

"Firstly Ike is not Senator Okwu's biological son," she utters. "So that was his first mistake hence he was a fool not to think before speaking about the birthmark. Sorry, ma."

"I'm not offended," Ike's mom dismisses.

"When he said that, Ike knew something fishy was up and that solidified with Ken's appearance and his stupid story," Glory picks up where she left off.

"You were faking it all these while?" I turn to Ike and ask.

"There is no way I could have believed them, babe, I pretended thus I didn't want him to suspect a thing," Ike murmurs, striding to me to pull me into an embrace. "Even if it were true I would have still accepted you for who you are."

"Awwwn," Glory gushes, pausing in her story.

"Focus girl," Oluchi reprimands and she frowns in retort.

"Ike called me," Helena informs. "After I was told, and it was obvious they were going to try to play a game. I reached out to a friend who is a matron here and so I begged her to look into the case for me, in promise for a sum of money though."

"She did, and the result came out as expected, portraying Ken as the father," she communicates. "Unknowingly for them, another test was being run by the lab department of the hospital I work at."

"With Ike's fresh blood sample and that of Miracle which was taken the next day while you were asleep, it was easy, and clearly, Ike is the Miracle's biological father." She beams. "Congratulations Ike."

"Thank you," he smiles, his arms still fastened around my shocked self. "There are still more charges to be filed against him regardless."

"What other charges?" Mirian implores, scratching her human hair bob wig.

"Emily confessed," the instant he tells this, I sense my heart skip a bit. "He was the one who planned the kidnap, she was just his accomplice."

"I knew it," Oluchi lets out, but I can't see her as I bury my face in Ike's chest, as mom takes Miracle who has been surprisingly silent all the while from me.

"It's alright baby, it is all over," Ike consoles, tapping my back as I wet his shirt, all the pent-up emotions being released in sobs as happiness overwhelms me.

The feeling of being free seeming foreign to me as this time I don't have to look over my shoulder anymore or fear for our child because all the people that are the cause of my problems are being put behind bars for good.

"Please don't be offended Mr. Alex, it was in everybody's best interest." Ike directs to my father.

"It's okay son," I hear Dad agree.

"I'm grateful Jesus," I mutter, still holding onto Ike as he appears to be my strength for now thus my legs appear to be wobbly as I feel relief. "Thank you my Lord for making me victorious in such trying times, thank you. For being so amazing and answering all my secret prayers."

"We give God all the praise," Ike joins me in saying thanks to the creator as he runs his hand through my scattered hair strands which I haven't had the luxury to braid.

"It's all over," Mom speaks, coming to join in the hug. "Everyone come and join."

And so they do, our arms going around each other as we form a big hug, two families coming together as one. Even Ike's mom in her condition struggles and partakes in the embrace.
