The next morning, Toews is in his house again, this time ironing his Chicago Blackhawks home jersey, whistling again.
A knock comes from the door; but it is an unfamiliar knock.
"Hmmm...who could that be?" Toews places the iron the proper way on the table and walks over to the front, opening it.
On the other side is a tall man with spiky blond hair, light blue eyes, little facial hair, and a huge, closed smile on his face.
"Errr...hi?" Toews grimaces a bit, not knowing what this guy was doing.
"Hi!" the man replies in a high-pitched, perky voice, waving. "You're Jonathan Toews!"
"Uhhh...yes...I am Jonathan Toews..." He nods his head slowly.
"I'm Kari Lehtonen--goalie of the Dallas Stars!" Kari holds out his hand to shake the captain's hand.
Toews shakes it. "Okay, so, um...why are you here?"
"Can I come in?" he asks excitedly, ignoring the captain's question.
"Why?"
"Oh, come on, what am I gonna do? I'm not gonna steal or anything! I just wanna look at the captain of the Blackhawks' house! How cool is that?"
"Okay..." Toews slips back inside with Kari following him in.
"Wow...this is so cool!" The Finnish goalie spots Toews's red jersey laying on the ironing table. "OMG, you iron your jerseys‽" He rushes up to the table and holds up the jersey.
"Uhhh...yea... If I don't, it would get all wrinkly..." Toews says awkwardly.
"Ohmigosh I also iron my jerseys as well! We're like twinning!" He puts the jersey back down on the table.
"Shouldn't all players iron their jerseys, though?"
Kari turns around, facing Toews. "Trust me, there are more players than you think that don't even think of ironing their jerseys! But seriously, I'm not kidding, we should totally be friends!"
"Because we iron our own jerseys?"
"Yes!" Kari squeals happily.
"Well..." Toews looks down then back up at the goalie, who has his eyes lit up. "I do need a friend."
He places his hands on his hips. "You say that as if you have no friends; I thought you had Patrick with you. You can have two friends--"
"No, no, no..." Toews sits down on the sofa with a sigh. "...I don't think Patrick's my friend any more."
"Whoa, you two are breaking up?" Kari gawks.
Toews shoot him a stern look.
"Oh, I meant, sorry about that." He sits next to Toews. "But what happened to you two for you to say that you two aren't ever getting back together like ever?"
"Well, Patrick yesterday just went crazy on me. I mean, I can't be with someone with superpowers!"
"Superpowers?" Kari makes a shocked look. "Patrick has superpowers?"
"Yea...apparently. And he told me that I have powers, too! Isn't that insane? I mean, I've known myself for my whole life and Patrick knows me for like less than a decade and he's saying that I have powers as well."
"Yea..." Kari breathes in sharply. "You shouldn't hang around him anymore. He's craaaaaaaazy."
"But do you think that I have superpowers?"
"Me? No way, José!" Kari makes a 'no way' gesture with his hands. "People with superpowers are crazy! They have something wrong with them and people like us, who are actually normal and sane, should stay away from them. We're the best."
"Right..." Toews says with a smile growing on his face. Finally someone understood how he felt towards people with superpowers...how he felt towards Patrick.
"So friends?" Kari asks.
"Friends!"
"Awesoeme!" The goalie raises his hand and high-fives the captain. "Let's go out and eat to celebrate out new friendship!"
"Alright, that's sounds great!" The captain jumps off the sofa and starts heading towards the door.
Kari follows behind him. "I can drive you!"
"That's perfect!" Toews walks out of his house with Kari.
He then follows Kari into a white van, seating on the passenger's side with Kari on the driver's seat.
Kari turns on the car and and drives off onto the main road.
It is suddenly quiet, which is quiet awkward to Toews since Kari seems like the outgoing, ebullient, type of person. But nope, he just has his eyes on the road with a small smile on his face.
"So..." Toews starts. "Which restaurant are we going to--"
Suddenly, his eyes fly wide then close quickly as he goes limp and slumps onto the chair.
"We go to no restaurant, Captain Serious," Kari answers with a wicked smirk growing on his face. "You're coming with me."
A pair of huge, brown eyes pop out from behind the chair Toews looks like he's sleeping on with black, slicked back hair. "Did...I do it right?" a raspy, gruff voice asks from behind the chair.
"You did it perfectly, Ryan," Kari replies with his eyes on the road.
He pulls the syringe he stuck into Toews's out of the captain's neck. "So...what do we do with him?" He puts the syringe away.
"What else? Bag 'im and put 'im in the back! We can't let anyone see him!"
"Right..." Ryan stands up like a hunchback since the van's ceiling is quiet low and puts a black cloth bag over Toews's face. He then wraps his arms abnormally multiple times around the Blackhawk's upper body and then lifts him out of the seat, lumbering over to the back of the van, setting him down on one of the cloth seats. He unwraps his arms and clammers back to the front, taking the passenger's seat. "So, he actually fell for it?"
"Hm, mh." Kari nods his head at the road. "Befriending is my way for taking in...hostages. I've never failed doing it."
"But why do we need Captain Serious?" Ryan asks.
"Because he's apparently 'Captain NHL.' I need him with me so that my control over the NHL could be secured and so those pesky GHP won't try to use him to get the NHL back."
"Ahhh...you're smart!"
"No, duh!" Kari rolls his eyes. "Of course, I'm smart! That's the reason why I'm Master and you're not."
"I will be soon."
"I highly doubt that."
"I'll be soon!"
"In your dreams. For now, you're my kidnapper; you're good at it."
"Oh yes I am! But why couldn't you knock him out with your powers?"
"Because if I did, then he would know that I have powers. I want to save telling him that for later..."
"Ah, I get it... You are smart!"
"Oh yes..." Kari stops at a red light and looks at Ryan. "I keep forgetting to ask you this, but do you like your new Canucks powers?"
"Yes and no. Yes, because I got rid of that annoying opera voice I had with the Blues' powers and no, because I'm practically now a rubber band!"
"Well, deal with it." Kari sees the light go green and he continues driving.
Ryan just grumbles. "Rubber band, rubber band, rubber band..."
"Hey, at least we got Toews! That's like the most important thing we needed and without you, it might've been harder to get him. Thanks for helping me out!" Kari winks.
"No problem! Now is the NHL our's?"
"It's always been our's. And now it's our's forever since we got Toews!"
"Oh yes..."
"Oh...yea..."
And they began crackling evilly together as they pulled up to the dreary-looking HQs of the Evil Hockey Players Society.
