Ethan wasn't surprised to hear that Izzy had been invited to a Downworlder party by a complete stranger. It seemed like the sort of thing that happened to her all the time. What shocked Ethan was his sudden turn in luck. This party was being hosted by none other than the High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane!

"Wow," he said, aloud, drawing everyone's attention to him as they walked back to the Institute, "after days of everything going wrong, something has finally gone right"

"I know," Clary said, sighing, "it feels... unreal. Like, I know its happening, but it feels like it isn't, you know?"

Alec scowled slightly at Clary's statement, "No, I don't understand what you're on about"

Ethan rolled his eyes at the pair of them, and their rivalry, "I think what Clary meant is that this is so lucky that we're afraid that its too good to be true, and something will go wrong. Like, it will be a dead end or something, I don't know..."

Alec shook his head "No I get you... now..."

Clary rolled her eyes and muttered "Just because you fancy the nutter..."

Ethan elbowed Clary in the side, then turned to Izzy.

"So, when did the invitation say the party was, Iz?"

Izzy took the invitation out of her bag and looked at it. She stopped suddenly.

"It's tonight" she said, a grave look on her face.

She was met with five blank stares.

"Okay..." Jace said, confusion lacing his voice, "so what's the problem?"

Izzy walked up to Clary and grabbed her hand.

"We need to get ready," she said, starting to fast walk away from the boys, "we're already behind"

"What the..." Simon said

"Its barely eleven o'clock in the morning!" Alec shouted after them, "Does it really take that long?!"

"YES!" Izzy shouted back, before dragging Clary round the corner at the end of the street.

Ethan looked at where they had disappeared, then looked back at the rest of the boys.

"Girls, " he said, shaking his head fondly, "So... you guys wanna do something?"

The other three looked at each other.

"Like what?" Simon spoke up.

"Well," Ethan started, then turned to Jace and Alec, "do you guys know Star Wars?"

"What is a 'Star War'?" Alec asked, wrinkling his nose in confusion.

Ethan chuckled "You look cute when you do that"

Alec blushed and stuttered, and Jace stepped in to save him from replying to that.

"Enough flirting. I know what Star Wars is, I've heard mundanes talk about it. But I've never watched it"

Simon lost the jealous look he was throwing Alec's way, and walked closer to Ethan. He grabbed Ethan's hands and started jumping up and down in excitement, encouraging Ethan to do the same.

"Oh my god Ethan! We need to educate them!"

"I agree, my young Padawan," Ethan said, as he stopped jumping, "there's a special screening at the cinema around the corner. Shall we go?"

Alec and Jace shared a look that said they'd rather do anything else. But then, Ethan shot Alec a pleading look with puppy dog eyes, and he melted.

"Okay, fine," Alec said, smiling as Ethan flung his arms round him in excitement, "but I'm not sitting next to the mundane"

As Ethan and Simon walked off in front of Alec and Jace, he heard them muttering. And what they said made butterflies appear in Ethan's stomach.

"Damn, Alec, you've got it bad. All it took was a look to convince you"

"Shut up, Jace, he's right there. I don't want him hearing"

                                   ..........................................................................

When they went in, Ethan and Simon were the ones chatting excitedly about Star Wars. As they left, Alec and Jace joined in.

"Luke had so many opportunities to kill Darth Vader. Why did he wait?" Alec asked, enthusiastically

Ethan chuckled "Because he's smart. He was biding his time"

Jace smiled at the pair "Well, I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would"

Ethan smiled back at him "And do you guys want to know the best part?"

Alec laughed at Ethan's enthusiasm "Go on, what's the best part?"

Ethan and Simon grinned at each other, knowing exactly what the other was thinking.

"There are eight more movies!" they both shouted simultaneously.

Jace and Alec's faces both lit up and Ethan and Simon laughed.

Then Ethan looked at his watch.

"Damn," he said, "we should be getting back. We don't have long before the party and I want to shower"

Jace whispered something to Alec that left him blushing crimson and shaking his head.

"Fancy sharing it with the class, guys?" Simon asked, only half joking.

Alec blushed deeper , whilst Jace just smirked.

"No," he said, "I don't think I will"

The boys all walked back to the Institute in reasonably high spirit all things considered, discussing the film that they had seen. Alec, on the way, had called Izzy to see how long it would take them to get ready.

"What do you mean, you're nowhere near ready yet?!" Alec shouted down the phone, making Ethan laugh, "We have gone to see a 2 hour bloody Star Wars movie and you are still nowhere near ready??"

Jace took the phone out of Alec's hand, told Izzy that they were on their way and hung up.

As they walked through the Institute doors, Jace dragged Simon to his room to find him some clothes for the party. Ethan turned to Alec as soon as they had left.

"Do you possibly have any clothes that I could borrow for the party? I would ask Jace, but yours are more likely to fit me"

Alec scratched the back of his neck awkwardly "Yeah, of course"

The pair walked to Alec's room. Despite himself, Ethan was bouncing up and down in excitement at the prospect of going to a party with warlocks and vampires and werewolves and seelies and-

"Here you go" Alec interrupted Ethan's train of thought, handing him a pile of clothes.

Ethan took them graciously and went to his room to take a shower in the en-suite bathroom. He sighed blissfully as he felt the warm stream of water running down his back. He couldn't remember the last time he was this grateful to have  a shower.

As he got out of the shower, he realised that he had left Alec's clothes in his room. Groaning in frustration, he wrapped a towel around his waist and walked towards his bed to retrieve them. As he did so, there was a knock at his door. Ethan didn't have time to wonder who it was, because Alec walked in a moment later, not waiting for an answer before entering.

Alec stopped as soon as he spotted Ethan. His eyes widened at Alec's gaze raked over his chest, droplets of water still present. Ethan cleared his throat and Alec's eyes jumped to his face, cheeks reddening.

"Well, second time for everything, huh Alec?" Ethan said, a lot more confidently than he felt.

Alec seemed to come back to earth, because he jumped and started leaving the room.

"By the Angel," Alec said, on his  way out, "I;m so sorry again, Ethan"

Ethan chuckled and got dressed. After he was ready, complete with weapons and a sick leather jacket, Ethan and Alec met up with Izzy, Clary, Simon and Jace. Together, they headed to the fine establishment of the High Warlock of Brooklyn. As soon as they arrived, Izzy walked up to the door and knocked on it. Ethan felt anticipation fill his whole body, waiting to meet the man who hid his memories from him.
