One day, Luke's parents send him on a few days journey to collect fresh fruit since fruit never grows in the town since it had very harsh winters. During his journey for 10 hours, he comes across a trail of gear parts. He picks them up as he follows them and it lead him to a small cottage. In the cottage lived a very old woman, but very looked a bit creepy as she has disgusting green teeth and sometimes pops up out of nowhere. She claims to sell stuff and asking Luke, even though the teen is just curious. Luke explains to the old lady that he followed a trail of gear parts and shows her on the wagon he brought. The old lady says that she gotten rid of them because they are useless to her. Seeing the gear parts still in good shape, he makes a decision. He wants to buy the gear parts, but asks the old lady for something that can help make Ninjago a better place. When the old lady asks him with a suspicious look, Luke explains that he had a genetic sickness that can kill him in a few months after his 19th birthday. He says that he wants to have a child with his girlfriend, saying that if the future baby's a girl, he wants create something to protect his girlfriend and future child after he's gone. Surprisingly, the old lady agreed to help. She says she's got what he needs in her basement where he discovers something horrifying: there are jars that have severed body parts like hands, feet, ears, eyeballs, noses and even human hearts! The old lady takes out some real human skin and begins to invent something with it. Once she's done, she's explains that she put some special stuff on the human skin to make last longer forever and never gets rotten. Luke bravely thanks the old lady and leaves with the human skin and gear parts.

4 days later one night, Luke finished the last of his food supplies. He is about to make camp until he hears the sound of screams and yells. Luke runs toward the screams, thinking people are in trouble. He comes across a burning village, not just any village, the village of one of his town's enemies. He looked like the town had a war with another enemy. Luke has been told to always avoid interacting with enemies, but the 18 year old did the only thing his heart told: he ran into the burning and begins searching for surviving people, even though Luke himself was in danger of harm. He is able to rescue injured people, some uninjured people and even children who are terrified of the war. But weaken from running, carrying people and inhaling too much smoke, he passes out.
