Down in the Under World [Daniel's PoV]

Mostly everyone was miserable the under world. Any demon who lived to serve for the Devil had it best. Everyone else had to live in small villages of caves scattered everywhere, only special demons got called to meet the Devil.

My father Jagger is one of them. He's a mean demon with dark red and black hair, small horns, and sharp ripped wings. His tail is long and pointed.

He's gone all the time, hanging with the Devil, our ruler. Why? I don't know. But rumors say that he helped plan the invasion and the angel king and queen's deaths. That's what really got the war fired up.

"Daniel! I'm home!" My father calls, his voice tired and scratchy. He flies though the entrance of the cave, landing on his feet. His shoes clopped against the tone floor.

"I made dinner." I say to him. He grabs one of my horns affectionately.

"Good for you, boy." He ruffles my jagged dark red hair and goes to the dining room where a plate of roasted pig is waiting.

I was silent, taking the chicken leg that I had cooked for myself. I dig my fangs into it and rip a big piece of meet off the bone.

"H-how was work?" I stutter quietly.

"Eh." he says, as if ignoring me. My father's always like that. He likes me for a moment, and then he doesn't.

"Hm..." I sigh, watching as my father fidgets with his dark red antler around his neck.

When each demon is born, we each get an antler the shape of a tear that we wear around our necks. It gives us the power to fly - because there is no air currents in the under world - as well as gives us strength, agility, and the power to control fire. It was a gift from the Devil when he came to rule of us.

"You shall make me your ruler." I remembered how father mimicked him. "I shall give you power. The power of flight, strength, agility, and fire control." He mimicked the speech the devil gave us when he first arrived.

My antler was tinted blood red, a bit lighter than my father's. But I had lost mine earlier this morning. A demon snatched it from my neck and I couldn't fly after them. I had gotten mad and almost broke my knuckles when I got home because of how hard I punched the wall. There wasn't any dent in the wall of course but I would've made one if I had my antler.

I stare down at my hand that was wrapped in a long bandage. It was bleeding earlier from when I punched the wall.

"Hey, kid." I was startled when my father called to me. "Did you hear anything about the war?"

"W-well." I look down, shoving my hurt hand into a pocket of my ripped jeans. I wince when I feel presser on my bruised knuckles. "I-"

"Speak up. Is this what training made my son into?" Father gave me a glare. He forced me into training 2 weeks before. It was so I can join the war. I only had one week left to prove I was strong enough to continue training. If you don't prove to the commander that you're worthy of war, you die. Now thinking about, I'm pretty sure that's why father put me in training. He always hated me. It would be the perfect thing to get rid of me.

When I was born, my mother died from a heart attack. Father said it was right after I born and that it was my fault she was gone now.

"I heard the coordination for the new queen was today." I spook up, putting my head down. "One of the healing soldiers told me so."

There was a pause from my father. "Very well." he says, standing up from his chair, his plate of pig half finished. "Clean this up. I have to go somewhere. I'll be back in an hour."

"But you just got home." I started to reject.

"I do what I want kid." He says, coming up to me and tugging at my horn. "I'll be back. Don't fly anywhere. Understand?"

"Yes father." I give him nod. Then father turns to the doorway and opens his wings, pushing off the ground. I waited until I couldn't hear his wing beats.

I sighed. "At least he didn't notice my antler." I shook my head and went to the dinning room to clean up my father's plate.

In Heaven half an Hour later [3rd Person View]

"Please be done." Scarlet mumbles to herself. She looks down at her dress. Lace, ribbon, mini pearls, white flowers, fleece, anything you could think of was on the dress. And it was her's. She couldn't imagine being in anything else as elegant as it. There was a problem though. It was heavy, maybe even too heavy for Scarlet. It made her sweat just standing there. She bit her lip. The dress was tight to her chest and her lungs were having a bit of trouble gasping for air.

"Are we done here?" She asks, gently tugging at the thin, fragile fabric. It was silky under her touch.

"Almost." a servant replies, sewing a thin piece of thread into the dress. Another servant comes and places a tiara on her freshly curled hair. Tiny silver flowers and pearls were braided into it.

A sigh escapes Scarlet's lips as she looks at herself in the mirrors. It pained her to know she was wearing her mother's favorite tiara, but Kennith thought it would be nice to make it traditional to wear it on Coronation days. And she couldn't argue with her charming husband.

Hope follows Gwen to the throne room, carefully running on her tip toes to keep up with the flying angel. Her hair bounces up and down on her shoulders, loose strands wave in her face.

They come up to the large closed doors of the throne room. Her eyes went wide as Gwen landed next her. She was breathing pretty hard after the jog.

"I'm going to go to the entrance." Gwen put a hand her friend's shoulder. "A servant named Freano will be in there to help you...fix up." Gwen looks her up and down with a smile. Then, she flies away in less than a heart beat.

Hope looks to the marble floor. She remembered the look of her mother two years ago. The look she had after the king had died next to her. Hope remembered how she ran up to her mother, how tears had started to block her vision. She remembered the sight of her mother being chopped in half, the shiny axe blade inches from her own head. The yell from her mother, the yell from Gwen, and finally, the silence from the castle. The cold silence from the shock and terror of the servants and the angels that lived below them.

Hope let out a trembling sigh. Tears threatened to fall. How did that all happen? She didn't know.

"Hope?" Hope looks up to see an angel a bit taller than herself. She had ash brown hair in two buns, bright silver eyes, olive skin, and a long sleeveless white dress.

"Julia..." Hope released a breath, wondering how long she had been holding it.

"Hey. You alright? Gwen was telling me that you might be having a bit of trouble with all this." Julia grabbed her hand and gave it a tight squeeze. Hope let out a sob.

"Julia I can't do this!" She whisper yelled, knowing her yells would echo through the halls. She fell into Juila's arms.

"Shhhh...." Juila held her friend close, letting her melt to the ground in her grasp. "Shhhhh...Its alright."

Light tears come from Hope's eyes and onto the floor. She quietly cried, unconsciously curling up in Julia's lap. The pressure was to much for her to bare, the memories of her parents made her want to dig a pit and hide in there forever.

"Shhh...."Juila gently strokes her hair. "It's alright Hope. Gwen and I will be here for you. Don't worry. Everything will be just fine..."

Inside the throne room, angels start pouring in from the side entrances. There were angels from all over Heaven. Whispers, and joyous laughter filled the air. Servants brought out food trays with pastries, berries, mini cakes, and drinks. They began passing out the snacks every few minutes, more servants would come out with more food to satisfy the visitors. Music started playing in the background. It was calm and slow, the rhythm causing some angels to sway back and forth along with it.

From the halls, Scarlet could hear the voices. She couldn't help but smile as she stepped closer to her soon-to-be subjects. And Hope. She couldn't wait to see her little sister again. She wanted to run to her - which she definitely couldn't do in that big dress of her's - and give her the biggest hug Hope would ever get. Scarlet wanted to tell her sister so many things. How she had been so lonely without her, how she missed Hope's cheerfulness around the castle, and most importantly, tell her she was sorry for everything. Tell her that it was wrong to blame her for their mother's death. Tell her what a horrible sister Scarlet had been to her. How instead of pushing her away, Scarlet should've gotten closer to her.

The more she thought about it, the more excited Scarlet was to see her beloved sister. Although, something in the back of her mind gave her doubts. Doubts that Hope would never forgive her and would never want to see the new Queen's face ever again.

Scarlet bit at her lip, something she did often when quite nervous. It was almost time for her to see everyone, become queen, and help lead Heaven into the war. That she was scared about. The war. She couldn't imagine being out there fighting like the brave angel out fighting right now.

Soon though, she wouldn't just have to say "Go Heaven!" and watch her fellow die. She could do something about the war, help Heaven win.

Scarlet shudders, chills travel down her spine.

"Are you alright my queen?" Valery caught her attention.

"Yes." Scarlet answered, straightening her back. She didn't look at her servant. She was focused on making a good first impression to her soon-to-be-subjects.

Scarlet rolls her shoulders back and straightens her posture. The main doors to the throne room were just ahead.

The soon-to-be-queen let out a breath. The coorination was about to start. She could hear trumpets playing from inside. Trumpets playing a musical tone just for her.

Hope breathed in and out. She was standing with Juila to the side of the crowd. Freano had come and fixed her up, leading her to the stop she was at now. The angel visitors were mostly sitting. Some hovered in the air while others stood in the back near the main entrance.

Hope blinked at the crowd, her eyes scanning the many angels waiting for their future queen to come.

Trumpets with blown as her gaze focused on her mother and father's old thrones. The giant glass window behind them had been fixed and the damaged tile from the metal axe had been repaired.

Hope shuddered. She remembered that moment so clearly now that she was inside the throne room. The moment her mother's eyes met her's and the giant axe right after it.

More trumpets joined the chorus and everyone in the throne room stood, facing the main doors. They slowly opened and a quiet screech filled the air. It was hard to see Scarlet walking through the isles of angels.

Gasps were heard throughout the crowd as Scarlet slowly walked past them. Soon she was at the thrones. Even Hope couldn't hold in a gasp.  Scarlet's dress was u like anything she had seen through her years alone in the castle. It was bright, complex, and it matched Scarlet's personality almost perfectly - Scarlet's old personality before she jumped on Hope, she thought.

Beside her Juila grabbed her arm and quietly squealed in excitement. It made Hope giggle a bit to see her friend so happy.

"May I present, Queen Scarlet of the Angels." Someone called, his voice filling the throne room. Everyone bowed, including Hope and Juila. "May I present, King Kennith of the Angels." Everyone bowed again as Kennith flew beside his wife. He had a white texito and a grey tie along with his crown.

That's when Hope noticed. Scarlet was wearing their mother's favorite tiara. Kennith was wearing their father's crown too. She paused, picturing her parents up there. In her mind, they smiled and waved to her, blowing a kiss to Hope to show their love for her.

Hope let out a sigh as the angels in the throne room started clapping.

"May they watch over us til the end of their time!" The angel shouted. Some angels cheered, others whistled whole some clapped.

"Thank you all so much for coming!" Scarlet announced, a smile bright on her face. "Please enjoy the food, and the ball, and have a wonderful evening!" She waved, scanning the crowd as they applauded some more.

Juila tugged at Hope's arm, causing her to come put of her trance. "Come of Hope. Let's see the queen."

Juila got a shrug in return. "I don't know, what if she doesn't want to see me." Hope said slowly. She glanced at the new queen and king.

"Come on. I'm sure she feels the same way about you, Hope." Juila pit a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Follow me."

The two weaved through the now large crowd of angels a Wing knocked Hope in the face as the passed an angel eating. Another angel giving his friends drinks, looked over and gave them a weird look.

It was a bit unsettling for Hope. She had never been in a crowd this large. Julia pulled her through the front of the crowd until they were finally in front of the new queen and king.

Hope unconsciously hid behind one of Juila's wings. She fidgeted with her necklace while she waited for Juila to speak to them.

She didn't want to look Scarlet int he eye. She hadn't since the last time she saw her.

"Hope." Juila tugged the angel forward, almost making her trip.

"Juila." Hope muttered through her teeth.

"Hope? Is that you?" She heard Scarlet's voice. Hope hesitated, then nodded, still keeping her head down.

Then, she felt something unexpected. She blinked as she felt her sister's arms wrap around her neck into a hug. Her sister buried her face into Hope neck, holding her tight againest the beautiful dress she was wearing.

"S-scarlet..." Hope managed out of shock and confusion. She paused before slowly reaching around her sister's wings and hugging her back.

Hope felt a breath of relearn for Scarlet as she squeezed tighter. After a second, the two let go.

"Scarlet I-" Hope started.

"No, no. You shouldn't be sorry Hope. You did nothing wrong that day." She put one hand on Hope's shoulder. The other culled her cheek.

Hope finally had the courage to look into her sister's eyes. Her eyes were dull and filled with sadness, creeping through her mask of happiness. Hope had never seen such a thing in her sister's eyes. But then again, it had been two years since the two spoke to one another. Things could've changed, and it still can.

Scarlet tilted her head at her sister with a smile. Hope smiled back, feeling actual hope in her heart for the first time in two years. Hope that she and her sister could be close again.
