I can't believe it! Trouble promoted me to Major Holly Short! It was such a surprise  when he announced it yesterday! Mom would have been so proud. It hurts that in just a few days her death anniversary is coming up. I promised I would make you proud Mom. I hope.. I hope I have. 

Commander Root on the other hand, well, I can just imagine. He would probably be yelling at me now. 'Get off that damn sissy diary of yours and get to work, Major Short!' I can't help but think he is right. I have been on the surface for nearly a month now. I have made some progress with Artemis. He trusts me again, at least. I haven't told him yet that I've been promoted. Because it means that I have to leave. 

I have more responsibilities now. I'll need to leave tomorrow, and I won't be back for a week. I'm not sure what this will do to my relationship with that mudboy. He barely trusts me as it is. I also cannot help but think about Artemis, as he was. He would have been proud of me, that I know. I want to hear him again. His annoying, smug voice, self assured in his intellect. I used to hate it. Now I miss it. What has happened to me? Argon, do you know? This is short again. Oops, pun.
