the small mirror clicked around in my backpack as we pedaled through the streets of the town.

"what can fix a broken mirror?" olivia pondered out loud, her freckled nose crinkling as she focused.

"glue?" i offered, steering my handlebars to the left.

"cole, that's perfect!"

i could see the hint of a smile torturing me on her lips, but i ignored the sign as we pedaled to the nearest craft store.

once we arrived, we dropped our bikes to the ground and jogged into the craft store, once again splitting up.

every time we parted ways, it felt as if my heart was tugging me the other way.

i disregarded the strange sensation and met olivia in the middle of an isle, where she held a bottle of glue.

i gave her a smile and nodded, and we walked to the cashier and quickly paid for our small item.

"what now?" olivia asked, her blue eyes dancing as she looked at the sunset.

"now we fix the broken."

"why?"

i smiled.

"everything that's broken can be fixed," i said, "it just takes a little glue."
