Year 1010. The fall of Wall Maria sent shockwaves throughout the human territories. Tales of the Colossal and Armored Alpacas instilled disbelief amongst the Human Military. More than 100,000 people have died in the invasion. Wall Aya's fall led consequently to a massive emigration of Wall Aya's inhabitants into Wall Emi.

More than two million people fled from Wall Aya to find safety at Wall Emi. Generally, the evacuees were not concerned where they should live. Nor did they hesitate to travel long distances just to find a new home.

For example, at the northern portion of Wall Emi, refugees from different parts of Wall Aya flocked to the walled District of Uranohoshi and it's surrounding towns.

(At the small village of Uchiura, a small provincial town near the Uranohoshi walled city.)

"No way!! Wall Aya is destroyed!!!?"

"Yes, Chika-chan. Apparently, the southern Wall fell when two new kinds of Alpacas showed up. People have decided to call them the Colossal and Armored Alpacas respectively.", said the girl's grey haired best friend named You Watanabe.

News of the fall of Wall Aya spread quickly into Uchiura village. How it fell is currently the hot topic in the village.

"So that is why a lot of people are passing by this town recently.", said Chika in a very relaxed matter.

Chika'a attitude to the fall of Wall Aya is the same kind of attitude that every townsfolk in Uchiura had. Living in a village with a rural environment makes a person feel safe and simple. Uchiura is so far away from the breach at Wall Aya and resides inside the unbreached Wall Emi.

"Gosh. I am intrigued as to what Colossal and Armored alpacas looked like. All I heard is that the Colossal had no skin."

"Don't worry You-chan!! Once we become soldiers, we will definitely see them!! Once that happens, we will teach them a lesson for attacking mankind!!"

"Chika....I am worried that you are too optimistic about mankind's ability to defend itself."

"Of course I am!! Mankind has the Love Live Corps!! They are soooo cool!!! I am gonna join Love Live and become a hero just like them!!"

"But my dad is a hero too! He is part of the Uranohoshi Garrison Corps. Although he stays at the Wall to shoot Alpacas with cannons from a safe distance, he is still a hero!! I will become a captain just like him and join the Garrison!!"

"Chika!! Come out here for a second!"

Chika stood up and quickly ran towards where her mom is.

"Mom, what is up?!!!"

"Chika, I want you to meet your new neighbors!!"

"New neighbors?"

The Takami household has just received two more additional residents in their village.

"Ummmm.....hello!!! I am Riko Sakurauchi! And this is my mom!! We came from Shizuoka, the western District of Wall Aya. We evacuated to find a home here at Uchiura! A pleasure to meet you!!!"

"Nice to see you too! Call me Chika!!"

You came out to join in soon after.

"Hey!! New neighbor? Cool!! My name is You Watanabe! Welcome to Uchiura!! Yousoro!!"

"Thanks.....ummm...Yousoro?"

"Oh!! Don't mind it!! You likes to say Yousoro a lot when she is happy!!"

The immigration of Wall Aya's residents led to mixed reactions amongst the native peoples of Wall Emi. Most are indifferent to their arrival. Some welcome them without anymore ill hesitations. But there are still some who do not welcome outsiders into their lands.

(At a village near the western district of Numazu.)

"Ummm.....my name is Sarah Kazuma. This is my sister, Leah. We are looking for a new home - "

"Sorry!! Outsiders are not welcome here!! Leave at once!!"

Leah and Sarah are two of many unfortunate refugees. The Kazuma sisters fled from their hometown, Akihito, seeking for a new home. However, at the rural villages they stumbled upon, the locals refused to welcome them.

"Damn it, sis!! Why does no one here care about victims like us!!?"

"They wouldn't because they are not related to us - "

"Why the hell?!! They know already that Alpacas stole our lands, our homes!! Don't they have any concern for us after all we went through?!"

"Leah....."

The suffering that these two kids went through is horrifying for their age. Until now, every village they asked for help from refused to give them any aid. Such is the norm of society in this area of Wall Emi.

"....damn them....if I could just kill them and take their houses - "

"LEAH!!!", Sarah gave her sister a slap to make her rethink of the situation.

"Leah, stop it!! Thinking bad things for other people will never benefit you in any way! Control yourself!!"

Sarah gave Leah a brief hug to calm her down.

"Leah....just try to understand these people, okay? You need to control yourself."

"......."

Leah could not stop crying. Her tears show both sadness, anger, and frustration. Sarah, the elder sister who tries always to act calm and understanding for her little sister, does everything she can to support her.

".....sis....you want me to learn....self-control?"

"Everyone right needs self-control, Leah. Everyone. Both those inside the Walls and outside."

"Self Control". Sarah could think only of one idea to give Leah a better perspective of how they should survive in this world. It was enough to make Leah wipe her tears away.

"......okey....I will learn to control my feelings for you, sis...."

"Good.....anyway, it looks like we cannot entrust the locals to take us in. We better start looking for ways to get inside Wall Suzuko."

"You mean the inner Wall? Right now, the authorities are strictly limiting the no. of people that will get inside there. The UTX Police will arrest us if we force ourselves in there!!"

"True......the fact that we have no parents or relatives just makes it hard for officials to validate our identities......"

The two sisters stared at the Inner Wall over the horizon. They are aware that they must find any way to get inside, regardless of how illegal their methods should be. Just to survive - any way is possible.

".....sis......maybe we should join the Military?"

"!! Leah?!!", Sarah is a bit shocked with what her sister came up with.

"They say that joining the Military will give us an opportunity to live inside the walls."

"But.....only the Top 10 are allowed to reside in.....I don't think we can...."

"Sis!", Leah replied in annoyance. She insists on this opportunity. Her elder sister could not protest at her idea.

"......okey. We don't have a choice anyway...."

Meanwhile, at an area called Aki Acre, the Yazawa family is one of many lucky families that found a new home to live in. The government had begun a massive program to clear forests and build new villages for the immigrants.

After evacuating Wall Aya, Nico, her dad and siblings are all reunited with their mother, who had been searching for them. Nico's mom, Noriko Yazawa, helped the family to get a new land to live in. She used what she earned as a doctor to buy one.

"This will be our new house, Nico-chan.", she said.

"This great, mom......it is smaller than our old house....but it is okay."

Everyone sat back to rest in this new home.

"Noriko.....sorry...."

"Sorry for what? For losing your arm? Mori, my dear, don't make a fuss out of it. You are our hero. Don't scorn yourself."

"........"

While everyone is busy fixing their new home, Cotaro, lying at the door, heard two members of the UTX Military Police conversing with one another.

"I feel bad that we had to give them this land to live in. Didn't we seize it from some hunters just so we could make them join the Expedition?"

"Not like we had a choice. There were too many evacuees. There is not enough land to fit them all. Besides, I heard some nobles were against the idea of sheltering the refugees in their domains - a bunch of pricks."

"There is nothing we can do about it. We are just doing our jobs - the higher ups will take responsibility for this. Geez, can't our Corps get any worse."

"Does it matter if we, the UTX Military Police, get more accustomed to cheating and gambling than actually policing the populace? This is better, at least we can stay inside the Walls away from Alpacas, right?"

Cotaro heard the conversation, but his age prevented him from fully understanding the talk. He did not share what he heard with the others.

So far, this has become the new trend and lifestyle for mankind inside the Walls. It is the beginning of the struggle for new lands, homes, and security.

But worse things would come later.
