"Come on, Loki! It'll be fun!" you pleaded. Loki stood with his arms crossed over his lean chest. "For the last time, Y/N, I have no desire to be trapped in one of those vehicles with all your friends." You huffed. You knew Loki didn't get along with the rest of the team since he was punished, but he could at least be a little more open to going on a trip with you.

"What if we took a car or RV of our own and followed the others? That way we can still enjoy the time with the team, but you won't be stuck in the RV with them the whole time? Would you be happy then?" You gave him the best puppy dog pout you could muster. You knew your best friend couldn't resist it.

"That isn't going to work this time, Y/N," Loki stated, but he refused to meet your gaze as his lips turned down into a frown. With anyone else, Loki would just walk away, but he considered you his only real friend so he couldn't leave. "Please, Loki? I really want you to come with us. I want you to have an enjoyable human experience and a road trip is just the thing." Loki groaned lowly before agreeing. You cheered and hugged him.

As you dashed away, Loki watched you go with a smile. When Thor had punished him, Loki was determined to keep to himself and not make any friends. Then, he'd met you. At first he'd treated you like he did everyone else, but you were persistent in trying to be his friend. You talked about anything and everything, even when Loki didn't reply. Eventually, you wore down his defenses and the two of you grew close over time. Now, Loki spent the majority of his free time when the two of you weren't busy with you. Maybe the road trip wouldn't be so bad if you could get your own vehicle.

A week later, you were packing the last of your bags into the RV you and Loki were sharing. "You know where we're meeting up tonight, right?" Steve asked for the hundredth time. You smiled and assured him you did. "We'll be fine, Steve. Besides, if we fall too far behind, we can find a campground to park the RV and sleep. Now go on before Tony leaves without you." Steve left you and Loki alone.

You joined Loki in the front as his green eyes scanned the contents of the bags there. "Why do you have so many unhealthy foods in these bags?" You giggled. "It's all part of the road trip experience, Loki! We eat snacks on the road and then, when we stop, we try foods that either bring back fond memories or ones we've never tried before. We stop and take pictures of interesting landmarks. I promise it'll be fun."

Everything went well for the first few hours. Then Loki started getting antsy. He wasn't used to being cooped up long and it reminded him of his time in the cells on Asgard. "How much longer, Y/N?" You sighed. "Why don't we go ahead and stop now? I could use a chance to stretch my legs and maybe there's something worth seeing." You stopped as soon as you were able and let Loki out. There were several things around, but what drew your attention was a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

"Come on." You dragged Loki inside with you and found a table. After shooting off a quick text to the others, you looked around. The atmosphere was a lot of fun and there was unique movie memorabilia all over the place. But one thing you saw made you squeal. "Oh my gosh!" You shot out of your seat faster than Loki could blink.

"Excuse me, is it possible for me to take a picture with that?" you asked the hostess. She grinned. "Of course! We've even got some 50s costumes if you'd like one." You squealed again and nodded. Loki joined you a second later. "Are you alright?" It was clear that you could hardly contain your excitement. "I'm great. I get to take a picture with Frank Sinatra! Yeah, it's a cardboard cutout, but I don't care! It's the closest I'll ever get."

You donned the costume and asked Loki to take the pictures. He couldn't help but laugh at your glee and the poses you were doing. Eventually, your food came to the table and you had to stop. The smile on your face was contagious and Loki couldn't help but join you. He guessed this was what you meant when you said road trips were meant for making memories.

After that night, Loki felt better about the trip. The two of you stopped far more often than the others and you took tons of pictures. The rest of the team joked that they'd be old men and women by the time you all made it back to New York. You'd simply laugh it off and make more memories with everyone. But it seemed your favorite times were when it was just you and Loki.

Before you knew it, it was the night before you had to turn back toward New York. Even Loki was feeling a little down about it. That was when you suggested a stop at a place your parents had told you about. "They got engaged here. I thought it'd be a great last stop for all of us to eat." The whole team agreed and you soon found yourselves at the largest table in the place.

"Are you not glad you joined us now, Loki?" Thor asked. Loki glanced around the table to find everyone looking at him expectantly. Slowly, a smile grew on his face. "I am. I must admit, I was skeptical, but Y/N has shown me what it means to the Midgardians to make such memories. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself." You grinned at him, missing the knowing looks the others were exchanging. Then something else caught your eye.

"OOOOH! A photo booth!" You grabbed Loki's hand and dragged him over. "Come on, Loki. Take some pictures with me." Loki was confused, but climbed in the booth with you. He wasn't expecting such close quarters. You were practically sitting in his lap. You put your change in and waited. "Here we go."

The first flash took Loki by surprise. The second one, you were laughing. Loki glanced down at you. In that moment, he couldn't be happier. Seeing the joy on your face was more than he ever hoped for on this trip. The third flash went off and Loki, usually so guarded in his emotion, couldn't hold it back any longer. He took his long fingers and tilted your face up to his. He lips met yours as the last flash went off.

Loki pulled away from you as much as the small space would allow. You were looking up at him with wide eyes. "L-Loki?" He reached up and cupped your cheek. "You are so lovely, Y/N. You are more than I ever could have hoped for in my life. My confidant, my best friend...and the woman I find myself enamored with. I love you, Y/N."

You smiled at him and rubbed your nose against his. "I-I love you too, Loki." Loki pressed another gentle kiss to your lips. "Should we try and make this work between us then?" You nodded and move to kiss him again, but the sound of the curtain opening stopped you. "I KNEW IT! GUYS I WAS RIGHT!" You and Loki shared a soft chuckle.
