Lanakila's POV

Lana was on foreign ground on all of this. Mates or beloveds have not been an experience she had encountered before. They were a unique experience, or so she had heard. And she was sure no amount of time could have prepared her for Roman.

When Roman had suggested they touched, Lana had not been expecting the deep desire that had flared inside her. It had been such a long time since she lusted a man on this scale. No this was first. And in Lana's existence, something of a first was very rare. She cherished those occasions when she had them.

In a moment of skin contact all of her body had been ablaze and she, without noticing, had pulled Roman towards her. Forgetting her strength she had injured him. The pleasurable electric shocks were a strange feeling so Lana's actions and apply of strength was somewhat of instinct. If she was going to spend more time with him, she would have to reign her impulses in, she thought absentmindedly. Or else she could really end up hurting him.

Her mind was telling to react to this strange 'mate' situation with caution but her heart was screaming something else. And it was hard not to hear the screams of her heart. It had been too long that Lana had forgotten that her heart could have a opinion all by itself. And it seemed her heart had been saving it's breath all these years because it sure was yelling very loudly at her right now.

It was rash decision of her to quickly accept Roman's proposition to go on a date but she couldn't find it in her to regret that decision.

After Lana had got home that evening, she had brought up her book collections on mates and beloveds and werewolves and vampires. There weren't many of these books around the world. Usually none were written on the subjects to keep the supernatural existence hidden. As Roman had pointed out, the books talked about the wolf of the werewolf recognising their mates, the electrifying touches and the beloveds who formed a deep connection to their eternal companions. Collectively, all of the information fitted what Roman and Lana had experienced but the books still did not talk about a coupling between a vampire and a werewolf.

Still there was solid evidence pointing in that direction. As Lana thought more and more about it, she noticed that subconsciously she had already accepted that Roman and herself were mates.

Her mind was chiding her: 'How could you have accepted this so easily? Have you learned nothing from years and years of living? You were supposed to be wise!'

Her heart replied: 'Precaution was already thrown right out of the window when Roman had exclaimed they were mates.'

'And who's fault is that? Yours Lana.' Her mind replied.

It was difficult to grasp one sane opinion inside her head. Her thoughts were constantly changing. It was like Lana was divided in to two and both versions of her were fighting with each other.

One part was her mind: The Lana who was filled with wisdom, reason and objective. This was the version she had came to be after living many years.

The other part was her heart: The part that Lana hadn't used in a while. And truthfully, before Roman, she had forgotten that part of herself entirely. Now, her heart had resurfaced so quickly and unexpectedly that her whole world needed a re-orienting.

Her heart was stepping up to claim it's rightful place and after the mind's decades of reign, it was creating chaos.

One fact rose above all; Yes she had accepted Roman as a mate too quickly but this showed something... that deep down, she was desperate for that kind of connection.

If Roman hadn't presented the idea of mates, Lana probably wouldn't have noticed this longing of hers. She was passing through eternity like a kite, her rope not tied down to earth. She thought she was fine with it but now Lana saw how eternity had gotten the best of her. No meaning, no emotion, no purpose. This was not a good way to live.

Lana realised she was craving for that spark of life again. That sunlight to break through her dark eternity. And when Roman had offered to tie down her soaring kite, she had latched on to the opportunity she subconsciously desired.

Still her acceptance of Roman as a mate did not mean she wasn't going to be careful. This had happened too fast and now she dreaded to figure out where this would lead them.

Lana looked over to the box of chocolate that Roman had given her, sitting on her office table. And next to it sat the single rose she had placed in a vase after filling it with water. She had placed them in the office because the books and shelves were where Lana spent most of her time. She had wanted the Roman's gifts close by. The items still carried his mahogany forest smell with freshly snow. She could not get enough of it.

Reaching out, Lana opened the chocolate box and took one of the pieces. Popping one into her mouth, she savoured the rich flavour of it. Although she did not regularly eat normal food, chocolate was one of her favourite delicacy. She tasted sweet caramel with milk chocolate. Lana did not know how but Roman had miraculously bought her favourite types. A good taste in chocolate was the first quality that should be sought in a man and Roman had just excelled at it.

Lana found herself chuckling while looking at the rest of the box that was filled with chocolate. Roman was turning her back in to a young vampire.

Tomorrow Lana would repay Roman for these new welcome feelings that he had brought up in her. She was going to make this a memorable date for him. It was her turn to romance and it was a good thing she had had a thousand years of experience.

Red Eyed Vampire's POV

Red eyes walked into their Covenant Leader's office and stood in the middle of the room.

"What do you have for me?" Their leader asked.

"Sir, Lanakila has left Italy and got a job at a University in America." Red eyes said.

"So she finally left her solitude?" The leader asked.

"Yes sir and we believe she has finally found him." The Red eyed vampire said.

The leader's attention peaked at this little information. And then a wicked smile formed on his face. "Then we go to America and see for ourselves."

****

I feel like this is a really boring chapter but I wanted to fill in from Lana's point of view. How she feels about all this and how she is having an internal battle.

Do you think you would lose purpose of life in an eternity and seek things that would connect you to life again? I think I would.

I was going to go on with the date but then decided I would reserve a whole chapter on it.

By the way, why do you think a red eyed vampire and a covenant leader is following Lanakila and talking about her finding 'him'?

Thanks lovelies.
