KAI FIDGETS WALKING OFF THE PLANE. She suddenly thinks this was a bad idea but there's no going back, Kate is waiting for her at the airport. Kai doesn't know if she should hug her or what, she'll just have to play it by ear.

Kai walks down the stairs to see Kate holding up a sign, 'welcome back from prison!' Kai laughs as she reaches the blonde. "Was this really necessary?" She asks gesturing to the sign, Kate nods as they walk outside. Kai was only staying for two days, so she just packed enough in her carryon. Kate leads them to a car that was parked outside the airport, opening the door for the girl letting her slide it before shutting the door.

Kai smiles as Kate rounds the car and gets in the drivers seat. "We're going to the gym." Kate says while turning the car on and leaving the airport. Kai nods, taking her phone out seeing a message from Paige. Kai swipes left, deleting the notification and focusing on the road.

Kate pulls up to the Hawkeye gym, Kai smiles nervously as they get out and Kate leads her to the gym. There on the court was two basketball players, Kai recognized one of them as Caitlin Clark.

"This is Caitlin and Jada. This is Kai." Kate says gesturing between the two of them. Kai smiles and holds her hand out for them to shake. "Yeah, you're pretty talented." Caitlin says with a wink making Kai blush.

"Alright, she's here for me." Kate reminds with a playful glare to her teammate. Caitlin backs up and goes back to shooting the ball. "Hey, yeah I like your pictures." Jada says as well. Kai smiles, "thank you."

"Wanna shoot some hoops?" Kate asks, pointing to the basketball hoop. Kai nods, grabbing a ball and starts dribbling. Or tries to start dribbling. Kate laughs watching the girl trip over her feet.

Kai stops dribbling and walks to the court to line up a shot. Kai remembers everything Paige had told her, getting butterflies at remembering her hands on her waist. Kai shakes the feeling off and shoots her shot, it going in with nothing but net. Kai cheers as Caitlin grabs the rebound and shoots a shot as well.

They all shoot some hoops before heading to the dorm room. Kate laughs at something Kai said as she holds the door open for her. "I'll sleep on the floor," Kai says putting her bag down. Kate tsks at the brunette.

"No, I will sleep on the floor." Kate says with a laugh. "No, I can't possibly kick you out of your bed." Kai insists, denying the bed.

"You're sleeping on the bed, end of discussion." Kate retorts crossing her arms over her chest. Kai rolls her eyes, deciding to take the bed. "We can both sleep on the bed." Kai declares pulling on Kate's arm.

Kate laughs and climbs onto the bed, Kai scooting over to make room for the 5'11 hooper. "Hi." Kai speaks out, not knowing what to say. Kate pushes a strand of hair behind Kai's ear.

"So, you like being a Hawkeye?" Kai asks earning a small yes from the blonde. "And the colors don't bother you?" Kai adds on, Kate laughs and shakes her head.

"I could never wear a yellow jersey, it would look so bad on me." Kai says rubbing her arms with her hands. Kate mhms, her eyes flicking down to Kai's lips.

Kai watches as Kate leans in, their lips connecting. Kai doesn't move, before realizing that Kate was kissing her. Kate grips Kai's waist hoisting her onto her lap. She forces her tongue into Kai's mouth, immediately fighting for dominance.

"Kate— I don't do long distance relationships." Kai says pulling away from her. "Then move." Kate tells her like it's the simplest thing in the world. Kai scoffs at the girl.

"It's not easy, I have a job at UConn." Kai explains, still hoisted in Kate's lap. "You can get a job here." Kate retorts, wanting Kai to come to Iowa.

Kai laughs at the girls persistent but shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I can't."

Kai yawns, fatigued from the quick trip to Iowa and back to Connecticut. She grabs a coffee on her way over to the gym, needing it to stay awake and finish up her photos and other work. Kai walks into the gym, all the girls saying hey to her. Paige looks at the girl before turning around and going back to practice.

Kai shrugs it off and heads into her office. She gets to work, wanting to get at least half of the pictures done by the time practice was over. Kai knew practice was over when Nika, KK, and Aynna arrived to her office. "Just you guys today?" She questions looking up from her computer.

"Paige made up some random excuse but the others are coming, they just went to get some food." Nika says walking over to Kai and looking at the computer. Kai laughs and pushes Nika away, "no peeking."

Nika holds her hands up in surrender and sits on the couch next to KK. The other players trickle in slowly with food. Azzi comes in with two things of food, handing it to Kai.

"Oh my god, I love you." Kai gushes as she grabs the food and immediately starts eating it. Azzi smiles at her. "What did Paige have to do?" Kai questions. The girls go silent.

"She had some project to work on." KK says quickly and the girls agree. Kai nods and they continue eating and talking. Kai finishes up some more pictures before the girls go their separate ways.

Kai walks up to Paige's dorm room, wanting to talk to her since they haven't talked in awhile. Kai knocks, hearing shuffling on the other side. "Hey, P." Kai speaks out. Paige gives a nod of her head, not wanting to talk to her. "Uhm, okay?"

"Did you need something?" Paige spits out, keeping the door open enough just for Paige to look out into the hall. "No, not really."

"Okay." Paige says, shutting the door abruptly in her face. Kai scoffs and heads to her room deciding to just text her.

Kai groans and throws her phone on the bed, not understanding why Paige is being like this. She pushes it to the back of her head and grabs her laptop, watching The Vampire Diaries.

Kai wraps the blanket around her whole body, wanting to be at peace. Kai fawns as Klaus comes on the screen. "That's my baby daddy." Kai says with a smile. Kai falls asleep with the tv show on, having forgot about the blonde.

Knocking at Kai's door is what woke her up. Kai gets up and opens the door to see Aubrey and Azzi at the door. "Hey," Kai says groggily, going back to her bed.

"Hey? It's 2 PM. Are you okay?" Azzi asks sitting on the bed. Kai nods and grabs her phone but it doesn't turn on meaning it was dead. Kai plugs her phone in before rubbing a hand over her face. "How was practice?" Kai questions.

"It was weird. Paige was practically clenching her jaw the whole time." Aubrey explains looking in the fridge. Kai raises an eyebrow, "ooo, grab me a Diet Coke!" Kai says noticing Aubrey in the fridge. Aubrey walks back with a bowl of fruit and a Diet Coke.

Kai claps in excitement and opens the Diet Coke and takes a sip. Aubrey puts the bowl on the bed and Kai starts taking some fruit, being hungry. Azzi and Aubrey sets a phone up to go live, channeling their inner KK.

Kai and Azzi through fruit at each other, trying to catch it in their mouth. It was very unsuccessful, grapes were all on the bed. Azzi and Kai keel over with laughter. Aubrey gives them a big side eye, turning back to the live.

"Hidden talents?" Aubrey says and Kai perks up, "I can do a handstand." She gets up and Aubrey turns the camera to Kai. She kicks up into a handstand, squeezing her core tight. Azzi cheers her on as she walks on her hands. Kai comes down carefully to not hit something.

Kai wobbles on her feet, seeing stars in her eyes. "Woah, I always see stars after." She says plopping back down on the bed. Azzi and Aubrey do their hidden talents. The live ends up going on for a while before Kai ends up falling asleep on Azzi.

"Aww, look." Aubrey says showing the camera. Kai was hugging Azzi's arm while gently snoring. "Aubs, stop it. She's tired." Azzi laughs softly, not wanting to wake the girl. "Alright, bye y'all!" Aubrey ends the live.

Paige sighs as the live ended, Ice looks over at the blonde. "What's wrong now?" She asks sarcastically, already knowing the answer. Paige glares at her. "She was with Kate Martin!" She groans out, looking at the Instagram post.

"They're just friends, P." Ice reassures her. Paige nods, looking at Kai's instagram posts one more time before heading to bed.

Kai yawns, stepping off the plane and into the Texas' airport. Kai groans as the heat hits her like a truck. "Holy fuck, I'm sweating my balls off." Kai says to no one in particular. Caroline laughs at the girl. Kai takes her sweatshirt off, exposing her black tank top that was underneath.

Paige whips her head, having to stop herself from staring. KK notices this and laughs, Paige glares at her making her shut up. They all load up on the bu and get taken to their hotel.

Kai passes out on her bed, not bothering with setting her suitcase up. The next morning comes quickly for Kai. She gets out of bed and gets ready for game day. She puts on a white strapless shirt and black dress pants that she could move in easily.

Grabbing her camera bag, keys, and phone; she heads down to the lobby to grab some quick breakfast. The team was down there eating as well. Kai grabs a bowl of Greek vanilla yogurt and puts some strawberries on top before sitting next to Ice.

Kai eats in silence, listening to the others talk before they left the hotel and went to the game. Kai stays out of the locker room not wanting to deal with their pregame hype moments. Kai doesn't realize that she's been doing Paige's hair for the past few games. It was too late to go do them now but she secretly hopes she comes out in her signature braids.

Kai smiles softly seeing her come out in her braids and UConn jersey, getting hyped for this game as usual.

Kai watches as the first quarter ends with Texas in the lead. Kai still had hope that UConn was gonna pull through. Kai groans as the second quarter comes to an end and Texas in the lead still by almost 20 points.

Kai's hope for the UConn team was not enough for them to pull through and take the win against Texas. Kai doesn't even bother with making conversation with the players, only going to get snarky comments back.

The bus takes them back to their hotel and they all go to their rooms with their heads hung low. Kai stays in the lobby deciding to use this time to upload the pictures to her computer. "No, no, no!" She groans as her computers storage was full. She had forgotten to put the other pictures onto a new usb drive. She couldn't even upload a single photo.

Kai shuts her computer in frustration. She packs up her stuff and goes to her room to get some sleep. Kai dozes off rather quickly, just after packing her suitcase back up.

Kai wakes up, deciding to not grab breakfast. She'd regret it later but in all honesty, she did not give a fuck at the moment. No one was talking on the bus to the airport or even the plane.

It was always odd when they lost, it's like they'd lose themselves as well and they'd punish themselves for not playing better. Kai sighs wishing she could help her team out but she'd only make it worse, having no experience in basketball.

She just hopes that they win the next game and gets their energy back, as well as Paige talking to her. She didn't know what was up with her yet, she was gonna find out though.
