KAI RUNS A HAND OVER HER FACE. She hasn't talked to Paige since she stormed out of the hotel room when Kate called her. That was three days ago and they've already have had five practices. Paige wouldn't even give Kai the time of day.

It was affecting Kai, she couldn't focus on editing the pictures or anything. Kai had told Ice to come to her office after practice today. Kai was pacing in her office, waiting for the girl.

"Hey, what's up?" Ice asks while softly knocking and coming in. "I need you to stay out of your dorm room, I need to talk to Paige. She hasn't been speaking to me." Kai explains making the girl across her smile.

"Yeah, I can do that." Ice says and Kai gives her a quick hug as a thank you. Ice leaves the office to gather her stuff and whatnot. Kai locks up her office and heads to Paige's dorm room. Kai rubs her hands together, accumulating sweat from how nervous she was. Kai knocks lightly then hears shuffling from inside. "Did you forget your key or something?" Paige asks opening the door expecting Ice to be behind the door.

"Can we talk?" Kai questions, standing awkwardly in the hall. She didn't want to barge into Paige's room and make her uncomfortable by any means. Paige nods and opens the door wider for the girl to walk through.

Kai steps inside and closes the door behind her, "you know, you were my first friend here at UConn." Kai informs, she didn't know why she felt the need to say that but it felt right.

The corner of Paige's lips turn up before she makes her face plain. Paige doesn't make any sign to speak so Kai goes in again. "When me and you, my first friend in a new state, are fighting— it's hard to focus."

Paige looks up at Kai to notice her eyes welling up with tears, it was slight but it was still apparent. Paige's face softened and a pang of guilt hit her in her chest. "I'm sorry." She says.

Kai nods, before continuing. "I'm not looking for a relationship with Kate Martin. I can't do long distance relationships." Kai explains making Paige hopeful once again. "So, you're into closer relationships?" Paige says with some cockiness to it.

Kai smiles and nods, Paige takes a step closer to the brunette. "Like this close?" Kai shrugs her shoulders. Paige takes another step and is now looking down at the girl she's been enamored by since the first day.

"Usually they're closer." Kai whispers into the tension. Paige pushes a strand of hair behind Kai's ear and angles her head upward. Kai holds her breath and closes her eyes, not before looking at Paige's lips.

They were centimeters apart, just one more centimeter and their lips would connect. The loud bang on the door makes them jolt back from each other. The door opens revealing Ice and Amari.

"Hey, Kai." They both say, not paying attention to the blonde. "Am I chopped liver?" Paige questions with an offended look at her teammates. Kai sighs, glad that her and Paige were good again.

It was already the next game day. It was against Maryland. The Huskies were looking for redemption, they were buzzed and ready. Especially since Geno ran them like a rented mule. Kai was sat in the locker room behind Paige, who was seated in front of her.

While Kayla was still healing from her finger injury, Kai was doing the braids on Paige. Kai was being extra hard on Paige's hair this time. "Fuck, Kai!" She winces and tries to pull away. "Hey, consider this punishment for ignoring me for three days." Kai retorts shutting Paige up immediately.

It was also jersey night, Kai forgot, of course. "Do you have a jersey I can wear?" Kai questions while starting the second braid. Paige smirks and goes to nod, her hair wrapped up in Kai's fingers causing a tug on her head. "That was all you!"

"I know. But yes I have a spare white jersey." Paige says. Kai finishes up the second braid without any complaints from the tender headed girl. Kai pats her head signaling that she was done. Paige gets up and walks to her locker where her spare white jersey was.

Paige throws the jersey at the brunette, it hitting her in the face, "thanks." She says plainly. Paige laughs as the girl walks out of the locker room. Kai goes back to her office and grabs her cameras.

Kai changes into the jersey, with no undershirt, it feeling nice and airy. The game starts off strong. This being Kai's third game, she starts cheering behind her camera when one of the players makes a basket.

Watching the game, Kai gets into it and starts to call out the refs for calling bullshit fouls. It didn't matter though, Maryland was not making many baskets.

Paige was about to go and make a play when something happened and is now on the floor worrying Kai. Kai couldn't do anything but sit on the sideline and watch, hoping that'll she gets up and plays.

Paige gets up and is benched while they check out her eye, Kai turns her head to look at the girl. 'Are you okay?' She mouths to the blonde. The blonde nods despite her eyes being watery. But thats what happens when you get poked in the eye.

In the end, Huskies win. This boosted the teams spirit, especially since they won by a lot. Kai goes and puts away her stuff as usual. The girls stop at her office and lounge while she uploads the pictures.

When they got done uploading she wiped the SD card clean and shut her laptop, "you guys ready to go get dinner?" Kai asks and they all nod say yes, glad that she was done finally.

Paige dries her hair off with a towel while walking into the dorm room. Ice was on her bed when Paige came in, "so, I saw you and Kai were awfully close when I came in." Ice asks, wiggling her eyebrows insinuating something happened between the two of them.

"Nothing happened, nosy." Paige says with a chuckle as she got dressed in sweatpants and a sports bra. Ice shrugs and goes back to what she was doing.

Paige sighs and grabs her phone, instinctively going to look through Kai's instagram. Paige smiles looking at the girl and noticing how pretty she was like it wasn't a daily occurrence.

Paige was woken up by a pillow hitting her face, "wake up." Kai says as if Paige wasn't sitting up and staring at her. Paige groans and stretches out her body.

Kai grabs a tshirt and throws it at her, "come on, Geno needs to talk to you." Kai informs her and Paige's stomach drops in fear. "It's nothing bad." Kai reassures and opens the door letting Paige led the way.

Kai follows Paige as she walks into Geno's office, he was sat at his desk looking at who knows what. Geno tells Paige about the event she's supposed to attend tonight, where Geno and Kai are gonna be present— Kai being the media director and Geno being the head coach.

Paige nods her head at the information and grabs Kai hand and drags her back to the dorm room, "I don't know what to wear!" Kai laughs at the girl and picks out an outfit that isn't too dressy but not to causal as this event wasn't the fanciest thing.

Before leaving in the car that was picking them up, they took some pictures with a polaroid and some just on their phones.

Kai and Paige arrive to the event, there being some paparazzi, Kai walks past fast assuming they just want pictures of Paige but some of the photographers start yelling her name. She pays no attention to them and heads inside with Paige behind her.

They take in their surroundings, a lot of basketball players from all over the country. Paige recognizes most of them, her jaw clenches when she sees someone she never expected to see. Kate Martin was smiling at Kai and taking long strides towards them.

"Kai!" Kate says getting the attention of the girl. Kai turns her head in the direction of the voice. "Hey, I didn't think you'd be here." Kai says simply when Kate reaches her and Paige.

"It was a last minute thing, I'm glad I came though." She says with a smile, "you look absolutely stunning, as always."

Kai blushes and looks down at her feet, something she's been doing a lot of lately. "Can I get you a drink?" Kate asks. Kai goes to respond before Paige does for her, "we already have something on the way."

Paige pulls them away from Kate leaving her dumbfounded. "That wasn't very nice, P." Kai says, Paige rolls her eyes. She grabs them two dirty Shirley's.

Kai smiles and grabs the drink out of the blondes hand. They go sit down as the event starts, Kai not knowing what was going on but Paige was smiling a lot so it must've been good.

Kai excuses herself to the bathroom, Paige nods and Kai follows the signs to the bathroom. Kai finds the bathroom soon after, "hey."

Kai smiles seeing Kate standing behind her. "Hi, sorry about earlier." Kai apologizes and Kate brushes it off, "no problem."

Kai nods laughing. "So, would you wanna go out after this?" Kate questions.

Kai thinks about it. Kate was cute and tall. But she couldn't do long distance relationships, "I'm sorry but I can't." She says making Kate scoff. "You can't or you won't?" She challenges, shocking the girl.

Kai gives a tight smile and turns to go into the bathroom. Kate grabs her wrist preventing her from entering, "let go of me." Kai demands. Kate laughs and shakes her head. Kai tries to tug her hand out of the girls grip being unsuccessful, these basketball players have great grips.

"Get your hands off of her." Paige says walking down the hallway. Kai sighs in relief, glad to see the blonde UConn player. Kate scoffs and keeps her grip on Kai. "Yeah? Or what." Kate challenges.

Paige smirks. Kai's wrist was released suddenly. Kai looks at Kate seeing her holding her jaw, Paige having punched the girl.

Kai's eyes widened before grabbing Paige's hand and running down the hall towards the exit. "I can't believe you did that!" She laughs as they make it out of the venue.

They sit down on the benches outside of the venue. "Wanna take a walk?" Paige ponders holding her hand out. Kai nods and they go walking. Talking for hours while looking at the street art.

Kai snuggles up against her pillow, not realizing it wasn't a pillow but it was Paige Bueckers. They crashed out in her dorm room when they got back. Kai grabs her phone seeing it was 9:27 AM.

It was a sight to see for Kai, Paige was wearing her clothes instead of the other way around. Kai exits her bed and goes into the bathroom to freshen up. "Wake up, we have practice at 10:30." Kai says softly and Paige groans.

"Let's just skip today and sleep. I could use the sleep." Paige says sleepily, Kai shakes her head and grabs her hand seeing it bruised up. "Oh my god, your hand." Kai says alarmingly turning the light on to get a better look at it.

"We have to clean it up, I don't want it to get infected." Kai pulls the blonde out of the bed and forces her into the bathroom. "Hop up." She says motioning to the sink counter. Paige jumps up and sits on the counter.

Kai grabs the rubbing alcohol and cleans the wound, Paige wincing at the sting of alcohol. Kai grabs some bandages and wraps her knuckles up. "Okay, go get ready for practice. I'll see you there." Kai says pulling the girl off the counter. Paige whines and does go to her dorm room to get ready for practice.
