Shianne pelted through the grazing lands, her breath steady with her hoof beats. Faster, faster. She thought, the wind tugging her long white mane. When her hooves hit the ground they made a lovely beat and she wanted to show all the bullies how much faster she was than them.

Shianne pushed on harder. Her breath becoming ragged and her pure white legs starting to get sore. She came to a stop on the other side of the grazing field and lowered her head to catch her breath.

Shianne noticed a dark figure canter towards her, it was her father, Apollo. "Wow, that was fast." He nickered.

"Thanks," Shianne muttered, unsure of what to say next.

Shianne lifted her head when she heard faint laughter. Shianne had great hearing; she could hear squirrels scramble up trees when she was near ShadowHerd's border. A flaxen chestnut colt and a palomino colt came from a few trees that stood tall behind Shianne. A vicious gleam spread across their eyes and even though Apollo was there, they would hurt Shianne bad.

"Awe look, ghost horse is trying to show she's fast." Venus, the flaxen chestnut, jeered. His brother, Crown, laughed and nipped at Shianne.

"Now boys, don't tease Shianne like that. In fact, don't tease anyone." Apollo firmly whinnied and the two colts pretended to play innocent. Apollo nuzzled Shianne, "I have to go back to camp. Will you be safe here?" Apollo questioned, his eyes switching back and forth between the foals.

Shianne nodded and watched as her father trotted away. She then faced the two older colts who had already started their training. "Does daddy pity ghost horse?" Crown snickered and Venus also laughed.

"I'm not a ghost! I'm just a regular white filly!" Shianne yelled, pinning her ears at the immature brothers.

"Ask your reflection that." Venus snarled and pushed passed the filly. They walked away, talking quietly among themselves.

Shianne's heart sunk deep in her chest, she'd never seen her reflection before. Her mother always made her avoid it by saying there was a bird in the sky, which made Shianne take her attention off the water.

I wonder why Rogue doesn't want me to see my reflection. She thought, her imagination running like a Thoroughbred. Shianne started to trek towards StreamHerd's camp, where rivers surrounded the land.

Then she heard a voice behind her, "and where are going?" She recognized the voice to be her friend's, Kyper. He was really friendly and didn't tease Shianne or call her ghost horse like the rest. He played with her like she was an ordinary foal.

Shianne let out a deep breath and faced the liver chestnut colt. "I'm going to look at my reflection." She nickered and started to walk again.

"No! I- I mean, let's do something else." Kyper jumped in front of Shianne to block her off from getting any closer to the water.

Shianne rolled her eyes and pushed forward. Usually, Kyper and her were very friendly, but didn't all friends fight? "You're acting like my mother!" Shianne hissed and pinned her ears.

Kyper stepped away, his gaze on his hooves. He was a very submissive colt, but when it came to fighting for his family he was very, very dominant. "I'm just trying to protect you." He muttered and looked back up at Shianne.

"Everyone's always trying to protect me! Can you just let me make my own decisions?" Shianne saw Kyper give a curt nod.

"I'll come with you." He added and they both walked silently through the tall grasses. They reached the streams bordering StreamHerd and Shianne took in a deep breath. She lowered her head towards the water and studied her reflection. Shianne let out a small gasp that was mixed with a whimper.

A small tear fell from her cheek and made her reflection ripple. "I am a ghost horse!" She cried. Kyper nuzzled her and breathed warm air into her nostrils.

"I wanted to protect you, but you insisted." He murmured and Shianne let out another upset whinny.

"I should've listened, Kyper." Shianne sniffed her tears away and looked back into the stream. Kyper followed her and Shianne thought they looked like a cute couple. She observed her reflection again, she couldn't believe the color of her eyes.

She focused harder and nothing changed.

My eyes are silver. She thought, her heart having a stinging feeling.
