When the sun rises from the south, Buri sat up yawning and stretched. He rubbed his hand on Audumbla' hide (her hide felt soft on his hand) in which she yawned before getting up, he smiled at her and petted her on the head.

"Good morning, Audumbla" he said.

She doesn't respond, but she licked her mouth.

"I met a frost giant named Ymir, and I think he's rather friendly even though he's a bit scary" he continued.

She moo'ed as a response, but he doesn't know how to understand her.

"Besides Ymir, I feel like I'm the only one of my kind to be created. I sure wish I can have a son so I won't be the only one of my kind" he said with a sigh.

She looked at him with sadness, knowing that she had created him but no other.

Buri got up and walked towards the western part of the forest, in which Audumbla followed him. They came across a clearance with a frozen river, in which Buri thought about building a house there. However, he had an idea for the ice in the river.

"I know! Why not I carve my own son from ice from the river? That way, I won't be the only one created by you" he said optimistically.

Audumbla nodded, as she walked towards the river. He followed and picked up a rock at the shoreline, and hit it against the ice repeatedly until a human sized chunk of ice came loose. He then struggled with pushing the Chuck of ice with his bare strength, but Audumbla helped him push the ice from the river. After that, he begin to carve the ice into a humanlike shape. It took him over two hours to finish, even though the carving was roughly hewn into a shape of a human. Unfortunately, the statue lacked a face and appear jagged thus causing him to stomp his bare foot on the snow in frustration.

"Why can't he come to life from the ice I carved!? You carved me out from ice by licking, and I was brought to life the moment that you sculpted my head and torso!" He yelled.

Audumbla let out a loud moo, thus letting him know that she's frustrated too. She walked towards the ice sculpture that he carved, and started licking on it. Instead of melting it back into water, the ice sculpture formed a face and the body itself went from jagged to smooth to the point that it looked a teenage boy. Then, before the two know it, cracks started to form at the left arm and reached up to the head. Buri can see a flesh and blood boy beneath the cracks, in which the ice broke off and reveals that the boy has black hair and blue eyes. The boy stare at him silently in confusion, yet he saw him smiling with joy.

"Who... are you... what.... am... I...?" Asked the boy in a weak voice.

"My name is Buri, and you are my son. I shall name you... Bori" replied Buri.

Then the boy used his strength to break out of the ice, only to fall onto the snow in which Buri chuckled. Buri then helped him stand up and walk, in which he felt joy because he now has a son.

"Let's hunt you some clothes, at least something to cover yourself" said Buri.

"Okay... father" said Bori with a smile.

Authors note: this is my interpretation on the origin of Bori, the son of Buri and father to Odin and his brothers. After all, how can Buri give birth to his son if he's all alone without a spouse?
